  1. I just wanted to update this thread again, as I have heard from Lee, again. I emailed Lee at the beginning of last week. when i had not heard from them by Friday, I called and spoke with someone over the phone that helped me get everything working better. Today, I received this email from Pat at Lee: There you have it. Overall, I'd say that's pretty good customer service.
  2. If only I'd known, I was just there yesterday.
  3. I'd love to get some real Italian food. Sounds like your family really knows how breakfast should be fixed, since your mother caters can we expect that y'all will be providing breakfast at the annual TGO meet in October? Chili doesn't have to be tomatoey, but it needs to be thick. Lots of meat, and beans. As for the coffee, well...have you tried coffee with chickory? It's a bit of a different flavor, and doesn't smell burnt.
  4. Wow. How in the world did you come to find out about that, anyway?
  5. I'll take it. PM incoming. I can PIF some Remington #97 shotgun primers. I don't know much (anything) about shotgun reloading, so I can't tell you much about them. Have about 200.
  6. I didn't know they were discussing this until just now. Anyone know how it went?
  7. I know times are tough and it can be difficult to find work, but would you really want to work there, if you had to take them to court to get your job back? Assuming that you did have a case, and you did win, and you did get your job back, do you really think that they would want to see you come to work? I imagine that even if you went through the process and were successful, (which is a huge 'if') they would find a reason to fire you before long.
  8. Any more info about the cards? I didn't see the news spot. Are these basically some sort of "No guns = No Money" cards?
  9. I'm no stock finishing expert, but I can tell you what I did on my old Mauser. I used a stripper called Klean- Strip. It comes in a red can, and I got mine at Home Depot. Followed the directions and it removed everything. Years of cosmoline, the original finish, left the stock almost white. Great stripper. For refinishing them, you might look into pure tung oil or boiled linseed oil. I used the pure tung oil on my stock because I was trying to achieve a lighter, almost blonde look. I understand that the boiled linseed oil is a bit darker.
  10. I'm sorry, but the very statement you made about chili only good when watery, and not drinking coffee disqualify you from determining who knows good food. In any case, I agree. Even when food sucks, it's better than no food. By the way, I was in Knoxville today. It's been a while since I got out that way, I forgot what a gorgeous landscape y'all have over there. I love those hills.
  11. If the sugar is added to cold tea, it tastes different. Your taste buds have just been desensitized by all that Yankee food to the point that you can't tell. It's Coke. It's all Coke. "I'll have a Coke." "Okay, what kind?" Looks like sausage to me, and I'd bet it's nowhere nearly as good as the homemade sausage blocks (to make patties) in my freezer. Just go back to Cincy then! I'll stick with my fried eggs, hash browns, bacon, and grits. I'll bet you have one of those Starbucks coffees with your breakfast, doncha? Mochalattefrappawhoozitspressochino? With skim soymilk? If you can not stand the stirring spoon straight up in the chili pot, the chili is not done. Chili should be served in a bowl, occasionally with cheese. Yeah. That sounds more like it.
  12. I'll be keeping the thread updated until we figure this out. I'm hoping to get the bullets from Okey tomorrow. I appreciate the offer on the x54s, but I can't let you do that. I bought some bullets, and am having an accuracy issue that may or may not be related. Not your fault, but if it really keeps you up at night, I think a few rounds through the Socom would be an acceptable tradeoff.
  13. I couldn't tell you, as all I've shot with them thus far is paper targets. I don't have any ballistic gel, and haven't taken the time to set up a wet newspaper box.
  14. Funny story, last year I had to go to New York State for two weeks for work. It was 70* when we left Nashville. When we touched down in NY, there were 8' tall piles of snow where they were plowing the runway, and the parking lot at the airport had at least 1" of solid ice on it. For the first two or three days, we tried a few of the local restaurants. You would be amazed at what I was offered when I asked for sweet tea. Raspberry fruit this or that, Nestea, Lipton tea (the canned stuff), or the ever popular "I'm sorry hun, you want what? Your accent is so cute, where are you guys from?" After about the second or third day, I couldn't take it anymore. There was a Cracker Barrel next door to the hotel we were in. About twice a day, for about 11 days, I ate at the Cracker Barrel. I haven't been able to eat at one since we got back.
  15. I don't like ticks. Just from spraying my fence line with grass/ weed killer today, I've picked somewhere around 10 ticks off of myself. To make things even better, what do you want to bet that the monsoon we got earlier washed all the spray off, and I'll have to do it again? Still raining, just in case y'all are keeping up. Doghouse flooded, three dogs in the house with me now. Driveway is not doing so well.
  16. Seeing that you've bought a cursed, evil, thumb destroying gun, I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands. Just let me know when you want to meet up. Seriously, nice looking rifle. Congratulations.
  17. I'll try to load one or two more and get more measurements and photos in the next day or two. I'm not putting much crimp on them at all, just enough that I can't push the bullet into the case. My next move is going to be different bullets. I'm planning to get a few from Okey this week to try. Depending on the difference that makes, I may take you up on the offer.
  18. The doghouse just flooded. Seriously. Doghouse sits about 3 inches off the ground. I need to bring my trencher up here and fix some drainage issues.
  19. It is coming a downpour out there. Driveway is under water, ruts have washed out that are probably 8" deep. I saw a turtle crossing the driveway, and I think it was floating. Turtles can't move as fast as it was going.
  20. Found this posted on another forum, did some searching. Found an article here: Sgt. John C. Beale | Freedom Remembered Video is here: http%3A%2F%2Fblip.tv%2Fplay%2FAYGJ5h6YgmE Video is 9 minutes long, from what I understand it is from Peachtree City, Georgia, to McDonough, Georgia. I did a search, and could not find where this has been posted here. I'd offer a description, but nothing I could say would really add anything worthwhile. Thank you to Sgt Beale and his family, and it's good to know some people still respect the sacrifice our soldiers make.

    Smith.. 642

I guess I'm in the minority, I actually enjoy shooting my 642. Granted, I don't usually punch paper with +P loads, but it's pretty comfortable with standard plinking loads.
  22. I found myself in a pretty similar situation. Long story short, I wound up pocket carrying a 642. It's not a perfect solution, but I found it easier to conceal and draw than tucking a shirt over an IWB holster, and far more practical than ankle carry. Unless you're limited by a work dress code, etc, I'd recommend you try a few different styles of shirts that you might be able to wear untucked. It really does make IWB carry easier.
  23. I would imagine that the chief might like to hear about a positive interaction with the officers.
