I'm not, but the better half and I did watch that movie about a week ago. It's what made me think about making some white russians.

I can go to a gun store and see XXY gun at XXY price any day of the week. I dislike going to a gun show, standing in line, paying 10 dollars, only to find the same gun for the same price that I could've bought it for during the week without the crowd or admission fee. I'm not saying dealers have to offer discounts at the show, but really the only reason I might go to a show now would be to find an individual walking around with something I was looking for. Otherwise, I'll just buy the gun at the dealer's store and save the wait and admission fee.

If you have any "Don't shoot the dog" options, go that route first. If you're at the mailbox and an angry 100 pound dog is charging at you, I don't know if there are any other options. My advice is get to know the neighbors, and the dog. When I moved out of the city, I brought three dogs. One house dog, one city dog that had never been out of the fenced backyard on his own, and one dog from my parent's place that's never been on a leash. I tried letting all three of them run loose for a few weeks. Bad, bad idea on my part. The older house dog never really roamed. The other two were causing problems. I have a bit of land out here in the county, surrounded by neighbors with land and fields. The young dog that had never been so free went wild, and didn't play well with the neighbor's dogs. I've taken him to the vet at least twice for injuries he got fighting with the neighbor dogs, including one tooth ripped out and one large gash torn in his side. Some of the fights were on my property, some weren't. In any case, it was my fault for letting the dogs run loose. Fortunately, my dogs never went after a person. If they had, I feel confident that the dog would've been killed, and I'd call that the right response. I would even call that the right answer if they attacked the neighbor dogs on the neighbor's property. However, I saw an issue and took care of it. The dogs got kenneled, and are only out free when they can be watched. The younger, excitable dog has a shock collar now, but I haven't had to use it for quite a while. If the dog causes a problem and you have the chance, talk to the neighbors about it. If the problem continues, call the cops/ animal control. If the dog attacks, well...human life trumps dog life.

Alright, I got curious about this and talked to a very good friend of mine who is an attorney. According to him, if you are on your own property, you may carry a handgun or a long gun with no HCP. No issues with in public, etc. If it is your property, you are legal to carry with or without a HCP. The potential issue would be disturbing the peace. Just like the Harvard professor, you can be charged with disturbing the peace regardless of who owns the property that you are on. There would need to be just cause for that, though. If you are carrying a holstered weapon while raking the leaves or mowing the grass, disturbing the peace will be hard to use. If you're waving a weapon in the air or otherwise actively doing something to cause a ruckus, that may be a different story. Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, that ain't legal advice. It's just what an attorney told me.

I'd love to hear from one of our resident lawyers on that. I've always been told that private property is private property, regardless of it's location. I believe that your friend is incorrect about being outside your home, but still on your property, and thus needing a carry permit. It really doesn't make a hill of beans in this scenario, because the mother had her HCP. It is a good question, though.

I appreciate the date link. Too bad I don't have the numbers off the gun. I looked at a couple today that are both...well loved, to put it very, very nicely. One had the deflector, the other didn't. I think the one without might have had the holes tapped for it, but I don't remember for sure. I'm thinking about looking at them again tomorrow. I don't need another .22 rifle, which is why I didn't buy one today. The more I think about it, I'd really like to have the companion to my Fieldmaster though.

Nice looking rifle! My Universal shoots great, but it's an early model that fits GI parts. What is the thing that appears to stick up on the left side of the receiver? Some form of optic mount?

Has anyone got one of these rifles? What do you think about it? It's a semi automatic .22 rifle, and shoots Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges. It's the semi automatic version of the 572 Fieldmaster, which is really the only reason I'm interested in one. I have a Fieldmaster that was given to me the day I was born, it might be fun to have the semi auto companion. Does anyone know how to date one of these, or what to look for? Does the deflector make any difference in desirability?

We can't ruin any local town hall meetings, because it seems like our elected representatives won't hold them. As for the Union folks, well...color me skeered. I haven't checked your facts, because I'm missing your point. A group is running commercials that challenge socialized medicine. It was, according to you, founded by a man that was the CEO of a company that was investigated for fraud. What does that have to do with our country heading down a socialist path? The government's job is to do what the private industry can't. Fire and police departments fall under that category, in my opinion. I could do without the Post Office, and for being run well...of those three, only the USPS is run by the Federal government, and aren't they losing money and raising stamp prices again? Doesn't Medicare, or TennCare here in TN, cover those that legitimately can't afford treatment? Even then, you think that some bureaucrat 500 miles away knows what's better for your family's health than you do? Hitler wanted the government to run pretty much everything to craft the 'perfect' race of people. To paraphrase what Jesus said, sell whatever you need to be able to get the tools to defend yourself. Care to explain yourself a bit more on this one? Stop looking? Or, point out the racism? I've missed it. My problem is not with Barack Obama the man. It's with his policies. There's a difference. It's this "let's all eat brownies and get along" mentality that will destroy our country. What if we had done that with Britain, or Hitler? I doubt your opinions would get you tossed off here. Just for the record, though, no website really falls under the 1st Amendment. It's a private playground, where the owner makes the rules. If I don't want a person in my house, the freedom of assembly doesn't mean I can't throw them out. It's my house. The same goes for the internet. Users are guests on the administrators playground, both here and everywhere else.

I thought it was pretty good. I never really thought about the gang presence in Nashville on such a large scale until now. They made a point of mentioning Tennessee's "lax" gun laws. There was a gang member talking about how easy it is to buy guns, or get them in robberies. He made the statement that "white people have guns, especially old white people."

The History Channel show called Gangland is doing a show on the Brown Pride gang in Nashville. Came on at 8:00 PM.

I know! I went by there this afternoon. Unfortunately, I was about 15 minutes after closing time. I'll try again next time I'm in the area. The sign out front says the place is a deli also, so maybe I can get a sandwich at lunch one day. If that's the case, they should do well with the industrial park right behind them.

I've seen an episode or two of the show, it was alright. The host was definitely over- excited. Anyone know if he's the same guy that hosted "Tougher in Alaska", also on The History Channel? That show had a lot of potential, but the host ruined it for me. Too much 'extreme', just like Ice Road Truckers, Axe Men, etc...

Definitely. I'm using the plastic boxes right now, with stickers on them. I'll be labeling the containers for sure. The ziplock bags sound like the way to go.

Or more specifically, at what point do you quit using cartridge boxes? I've been loading small batches, working on a load that I liked. I finally settled on one for 9mm, and have started loading it in bulk. With my small 10-20 round batches, I used cartridge boxes to hold them. Now that I'm looking to load and store a few more than that, the boxes are beginning to look unnecessary. I keep all my ammo in surplus cans, and I can fit a lot more loose ammo into a can than I can ammo in boxes. The one thing I do like about the boxes, though, is that it's an easy way to keep track of how much ammo you have, opposed to just loose rounds in an ammo can. So when you load up a few hundred of one caliber, with one specific load, do you use cartridge boxes, or just toss the loose rounds into a larger container?

My Dual Carry conceals very well. It's fine with just a t shirt, but tends to catch your shirt between your back and the gun if you bend over. Could just be the way I have mine set up, as the clips can be moved to adjust for cant. Underneath a button down shirt, it doesn't print regardless of what I've done.

A bunch of keys. Neat little Peterbilt emblem that's keychain sized. That's about it.

What will a rental grinder from Home Depot cost? Do they charge extra for damage? What's your time worth? Do you really want the stump gone that bad? I think that's a fair price to do the job. If you do it yourself, put some plywood in front of the house windows. I'd try to avoid grinding toward the street, if there is anything embedded in the stump you could do some damage to passing or parked cars. I've got an old peach tree stump in my yard. It's only a couple of inches tall, wouldn't take much to grind it out. I've left it alone so far, because it just doesn't bother me that much. I may have a fire on top of it one of these days. If you know the roots are shallow and there's no tap root, you might do well if you dig around it a lot and pull it with the truck.
