  1. "The .38 Smith & Wesson Special (commonly .38 Special, .38 Spl, or .38 Spc, pronounced "thirty-eight special") is a rimmed, centerfire cartridge designed by Smith & Wesson. It is most commonly used in revolvers, although some semi-automatic pistols and carbines also use this round. The .38 Special was the standard service cartridge of most police departments in the United States from the 1920s to the early 1990s. In other parts of the world, particularly Europe, it is known by its metric designation 9×29mmR." .38 Special - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  2. I bought a S&W 642 brand new from Hero Gear. On the side of the barrel it is stamped ".38 S&W SPL. +P". From my research in the last few minutes, .38 S&W Special is the full name for regular old .38 Special. I have only shot .38 Special and .38 Special +P out of my gun and have had no issues. Your mileage may vary, be sure the gun is in good shootable condition and you're using good ammunition.
  3. My poor reading comprehension got me again! Blast! My S&W 642 is stamped .38 S&W Special. It is .38 Special.
  4. It may just be me, but that AR looks like the grip, trigger guard, and possibly the stock are part of the lower receiver. Is that right? What brand is it?
  5. No. I believe it is a shorter cartridge. EDIT- found this article. http://www.chuckhawks.com/forgotten_38SW.htm
  6. What are y'all talking about? Doesn't anyone realize that the Predators just went to overtime with the Avalanche in Colorado? 7 game winning streak, baby! Yeah! Anyway, pictures? Kari? What did I miss here?
  7. That's nothing but a fancied up M-813. Man do I ever want one...

    HK P30

I have a P30, and David was kind enough to let me shoot his HK45. The 45 is now on my short list to buy. It's been a couple of months since I shot it, but I don't recall a big difference in the trigger between my V3 P30 and whatever version David's gun is. The LEM trigger is supposed to be very different from the DA/SA V3 trigger. I haven't shot anything with the LEM trigger, so I really can't say.
  9. Over rated. We have some F-650s at work. They can hardly get out of their own way. No way I'd want to own one, even a pickup version. Two wheel drive, too tall to tow a gooseneck with, and have a turning radius that would rival a small ship. I'd prefer an F-550. Despite being only one step down, it uses the regular Super Duty cab and is a far more useable pickup truck. Now if you want a cool, big truck, check out an M813.
  10. There's also one in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
  11. It's back on tonight, for anyone like me that hasn't seen all the episodes or wants to see them again. Not sure what time it started, but it goes until 7:00 PM.
  12. They say preorders will ship Jan. 15th.
  13. I'm kicking myself for not watching it sooner. I generally don't buy movies, but I do believe I'll be ordering this on DVD.
  14. It's a series that the History channel has been running this week. Tonight is the first time I've watched it, it's really something. Lots of color film, and film from the war. Very impressive.
  15. Never could carry in 'bars', only restaurants that serve food 5 days a week along with alcohol. But I do believe that it means we can't carry anywhere alcohol is served for on site consumption again.
  16. I was once told that President Bush sent the family of every soldier killed in action during his two terms a letter, thanking them for their sacrifice. While I was unable to confirm that, I did find these: snopes.com: Bush Jogs with One-Legged Soldier snopes.com: Bush Salutes Birdwell Thanks for supporting the troops, Mr. Bush.
  17. Where is Part I located? I'm going to try and get off work to attend. Who would I contact to confirm the time?
  18. Very nice. Blued steel and wood has an appeal that tactical plastic just can't answer.

    Winchester 670A

I looked it up, seems that the 670 was a value- priced version of the Model 70. They were made from 1967 to 1973. Depending on how bad the scratches are, 250-300 would seem about right. The few values I've found listed for them do not seem to have scopes on them, so that may add a bit to the value.

    Where to go?

A friend and I once set some Tannerite on my target stand about halfway up the support leg. There was nothing to rebuild.
  21. It appears to be working well for Georgia. "In the town of Geuda Springs, the town council recently passed an ordinance requiring every resident to own a firearm." The article is dated September 28, 2008. Not exactly yesterday, but far more recent than 1982. Sounds like a good idea to me, and apparently Georgians like it, too.
