  1. I believe that you would be correct. I'd chalk it up to the news folks being wrong. Maybe they're misinformed about the laws, or maybe there's more to the story than they initially reported.
  2. No you didn't. There are no pictures. Everybody knows that it didn't happen without pictures. Seriously, congratulations. I'm getting interested by the Sigs myself.
  3. Shouldn't have a problem. The components of ammunition, separated, are no more volatile than they are as assembled rounds. Manufacturers have warehouses full of the stuff just sitting there. The most volatile single component is primers, and the greatest danger from them is while you're loading them. Be careful, don't crush them, and you should be okay.
  4. I've had my Lee disk powder measure to the same thing, it's a pain. Also be aware, depending on what powder you're using it can make a huge mess. Pull the bullets. Clearing a squib is no fun. Besides, why waste a bullet and primers?
  5. I considered the DMS for my AR. Look at one in person if you can, that thing is heavy compared to similar scopes.
  6. Most shops will do it, and it seems like the average cost is $25.00 plus the $10.00 background check fee. Usually runs $35-40.00 out the door. I believe Hero Gear is relatively close to Columbia, and I know Guns For America is on the south side of Nashville. There are probably other places around you that will do it, as well.
  7. I don't use X-Mas myself, but I was always taught that X, or some form of it that I don't know how to make on my keyboard, was the symbol for Christ in ancient Greek texts.
  8. What type of age statement do you have to submit to buy from them? Faxed/ scanned photo ID, or can it be done online?
  9. I guess what the mother did was better than ignoring it, but I'm not sure calling the police on a child is the first course of action to take. Then again, how do we know this is the first time the kid has done this?
  10. Has anyone tried this stuff? Very good price, but I've never heard of HotShot ammo.
  11. I put two 2x10 or 2x12 boards (I can't remember, it's big enough though) on top of a 2x4 frame. No plywood on top, though that would have made for a nicer work surface. I filled the gap between the boards with some wood filler and put a couple of coats of polyurethane on top. If you build your own bench, leave an overhang. I goofed up and put the frame of the bench flush with the edge of the top. I found out when I mounted my press that it needs about 1/2" of an overhang for the ram to move. I wound up filing a groove into the frame to allow the ram to move freely. If I'd let the top overhang the frame an inch or so, there wouldn't have been any issues.
  12. At least you didn't shoot the toilet like the guy out west did.
  13. I believe that's the one, Loon. I'll be looking for it again, I'd love to get a good side angle shot of the truck itself.
  14. Mike, that explains the why part of it. I just couldn't see them impounding enough trailers to justify buying a truck. A seized vehicle does make sense though. Just want to find a picture or two of it, now.
  15. New? Where have you been? I've been a fan of semi trucks ever since I was knee high to a cornstalk. Though I will say I'm glad I don't have to work on the blasted things anymore. At least, not much.
  16. +1 I'd love to see some pictures of the armor, I could probably find someone to identify what it exactly is.
  17. Alright, has anyone got a picture of this thing? I saw a Peterbilt semi tractor painted up with the THP colors with blue lights on it sitting behind the weigh station building on I-40 headed into Knoxville today. I didn't have time to get a picture of it. So, does anyone have a photo of the this truck? My Google search hasn't found much. Anyone know why they even have a truck like this? I think it's pretty cool that they do, I just don't see the reason. Do they take possession of enough trailers to justify the cost, instead of simply calling out a towing company?
  18. For those of us who aren't members, what does the ad say? If it's not a joke, I've got a Model 60 that I'll make someone a deal on for $450.00. That's a $50.00 savings right there!
  19. Transfers of a firearm, regardless of how it's paid or traded for, must go through an FFL in the receiving party's state if you are not both residents of the same state. For example, if you traded guns with a Kentucky resident, the gun you give him would have to be transferred to him by an FFL holder in Kentucky. Likewise, the gun he gives you will have to be transferred to you by an FFL holder in Tennessee. As an afterthought, I'm assuming you're talking about a face to face type of deal. If you're trading with someone you won't be meeting, you'll have to ship the gun to his FFL.
  20. I'm just thankful that I'm in a position to be able to do stuff like this every once in a while. If anything, TDR deserves the credit for giving me the idea.
  21. Taking a page from TDR's book here. I've been blessed this year, and want to be a small part of the generosity so often found here. Free Premium (Benefactor) Membership - Must have been a TGO member for at least 90 days. - Must have made at least 90 posts. The first person who meets the above mentioned criteria to send me a PM will receive a Free One Year Premium (Benefactor) Membership.
  22. TDR said it well. We've all screwed up, and it takes some guts to admit it. Just say the word if there's anything we can do to help.
  23. That list appears to be slightly out of date. JHatmaker is now a moderator in the Handguns forum, and the Ammunition and Reloading forums now only lists TGO Staff and Enfield as the moderators. There are a couple of other small changes, too.
  24. Awesome, the pictures were just what I needed. I really appreciate it. Did your safe have a panel over that stuff, or is it exposed? Mine has that part exposed, but I thought the cover was simply missing.
