  1. For what it's worth, refinishing old/ classic/ collectible guns generally decreases their value. I'd probably leave it alone if it were mine.
  2. Without a doubt, I'm a Ford guy. Looking for another truck right now, even. But gotten the message? I think not, good sir! Did you know that a manual transmission will not be available in the 2011 Superduty trucks? Not just hard to find, but all out not an option. How much sense does that make? Doesn't affect me, as I'm hunting a significantly older truck, but still...not even offered? A 10,000 pound, diesel burning dually designed to pull things, and you can't even special order a stickshift? Really?
  3. I would recommend Guns and Leather. Nice range, and there's a TGO shoot there on the 31st of this month, I believe.
  4. While I like the idea, I think Hitler will be building a snowman in Hades before it happens.
  5. I saw a picture once of a log truck that burned. The driver went to throw a chain over the load, and somehow the chain caught a low overhead line. The entire truck burned.
  6. On the big stuff (20+" DBH) I rip it in half with the saw. I don't have a hydraulic splitter. I just bought a Fiskars Super Split axe, and I've been very impressed. The handle is a little short (it was designed in Sweden, I think) but it made work really easy on some 12- 16" diameter stuff I had. Barely even had to swing it, just let it fall on the wood.
  7. That sounds funny to me. The mechanical linkage shouldn't have caused a spongy feeling, and I wouldn't think pumping the pedal would have any effect on mechanical components. Hydraulics parts, yes, but linkage? That's a new one. I'm not saying they're wrong, as I haven't looked at your car and they have, but that seems unusual.
  8. Depends on the wood, I try to go a year at least for oak and hickory.
  9. Go try both, then decide. I've owned two Glocks, sold them both. They're fine guns, but I just don't care for them. On the other hand, I'm thrilled with my HK P30. Three sizes of backstraps and side panels, feels like it was made for my hand. The DA/SA trigger takes getting used to, but I've come to like it as well. Go shoot both, then decide.
  10. I like trucks, but please keep your trucks and your power lines separated. It's just safer that way.
  11. I wouldn't do it. You said you were buying an AK this week anyway, so personally I'd hold on to the A5 and buy an AR later, if that's what you want. That way, if you don't like the AK you can sell it instead of the shotgun.
  12. I would bet master. A failing slave cylinder would probably be leaking, and lowering the fluid level.
  13. You have a failing cylinder. As you pump the pedal, it builds up fluid pressure and causes the system to work.
  14. The one I picked up was lined with felt. Might do that? I'd avoid spray on bedliner stuff, it's usually pretty hard.
  15. I appreciate the offer, but I actually picked up a CMMG kit this week.

Hey, you better watch posting these useless fluff threads that do nothing but boost your own post count. Pot, meet Kettle...
  17. Hard to say. This is the first show in the Murfreesboro location. They held this show in Smyrna for quite a while, then only recently moved to Murfreesboro. They're generally okay, a few guns, some beef jerky. I generally preferred the RK shows to the Goodman shows, but I haven't been to the last few RK shows.
  18. Look at the Mossberg Maverick line. I believe they're the bargain line, and share a few parts with the Mossberg 500. The Mossberg 500, Remington 870, Winchester 1300, are all good guns and are all well known, and generally easy to find used.
  19. You thought about the cosmo before or after going to the gunsmith? I hope it was before, if the 'smith gave it back to you with the cosmo still in there I'd be very upset, on that basis alone. It's not that I'd expect him to detail clean my gun, but the cosmo would've been very related to the problem you're having. Second, do you have a receipt that might list the exact part he said they replaced? The firing pin and hammer are two different parts.
  20. Does anyone remember what that vendor's name was? I didn't make the show, but I'd like to get in touch with them if that's their regular price on a CMMG kit.
  21. Did you get that from a dealer, or someone walking around? If it was a dealer, which one? What brand kit is it?
  22. Have you ever accidentally set off a dry chemical fire extinguisher in the back of a work van? Unless something is on fire, I wouldn't recommend it. Long story short, I've had my work truck in my shop, and spent most of the afternoon removing everything from it (tools, parts, etc...) and vacuuming out fire extinguisher powder.
  23. "...Can't trust the weatherman, makes his living on a lucky chance..." Bonus points if you can name that song, and the group. The only slick spots I found today were in industrial areas, on small roads that didn't get salted. Major routes (386, 109, Briley, the interstates, etc...) were all clear. The backroads to my house were clear this morning, but iced over by the time I headed home. Got home alright though.
  24. Ammo must be taken to a UPS Hub, not a UPS Store. That said, I've shipped ammo a few times with them and never had any problems. I just wrote ORMD on the box with a marker and shipped it.
