  1. After Katrina, New Orleans was not operating on gold. They were operating on a gallon of gas, a loaf of bread, or some bottled water. Historically speaking, I don't believe any civilizations have reverted to gold as a medium of exchange since the Roman empire. The folks in Zimbabwe aren't panning for gold because the world is coming to an end, but because they sell it to folks who sell it to folks who sell it to other folks that watch midnight cable TV and think the world is coming to an end. But that's just my opinion, and may be worth what you payed for it.
  2. Benefactor members can have up to 200 messages. Might be that yours has lapsed?
  3. Thanks! I had a site to find the year, but it wanted a 3 digit number. I believe the dealer used a stock number on the 4473, but there are no additional numbers stamped on the rifle anywhere. I would not have guessed 1961. It's got a few wear marks, some marks from what looks like a dovetail scope mount being removed, but generally looks like it's been well taken care of. I put a few hundred rounds through it, and it's pretty accurate. Rifling looks good, too.
  4. For rifles that don't have a serial number, what is the dealer supposed to do when they sell that rifle? They have to put something on the 4473, don't they? I pulled the forearm off, all that's stamped on the barrel is a boat anchor shaped thing, then the letters K H, then a diamond. Mine has nothing stamped below the Model 552, but my Fieldmaster does have a serial number in that location. I may try to call Remington on Monday and see if they can help me. Thanks!
  5. Two empty net goals, 4-1 Preds. I accidentally scared the dog out of the room yelling at the TV.
  6. Tied at 1-1, Predators on the powerplay. 15:00 left in the 3rd
  7. I asked about the 552 a while back, but I finally purchased a used one. After inspecting it, I have more questions. For one, I can't find a serial number on this thing anywhere. The gentleman at the gun store put one on the form, and there was a number written on a tag attached to the trigger guard. However, I can't find that (or any) number actually stamped on the rifle. Can anyone tell me where it would usually be found? I've checked the receiver very carefully and can't find anything. I've been told I can find the year of the rifle by using a three digit number on the side of the barrel. The only thing on the side of my barrel looks like a boat anchor, followed bu a letter, followed by a diamond. I'm obviously missing something here, anyone know what it is? Thanks!
  8. Youtube? Dish Network channel 450.
  9. The puck is about to drop on the Predators vs Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Playoff game! Anyone else watching?
  10. Inner liner is okay. I've got to look at it more closely and see how badly the rust has weakened the sides, ut the plan is to pull the liner out, try to straighten a dent or two out of it, then put it back together with some form of insulation between the sides and liner. Weld some metal back in to form a bottom, make a lid, and possibly paint it.
  11. I'd give 350 for that, if I were AK shopping. I believe that the single stack AKs can have the magazine well modified to accept the double stack mags. I found an article on it at one time, I'll see if I can find it again.
  12. I believe (I'm not positive) you can put a P30L barrel in a regular P30 and have enough room to have it threaded. I have a 9mm P30, and really like it.
  13. I'll be honest, this actually makes me feel a bit better about it. I'd feel real apprehensive about taking a welder and fixing on it if it was uncommon or had some value. For a $20.00 cooler, I don't have to worry about damaging something that might have some value. I can sandblast and weld and paint and really not hurt what little value might be there. I think it fits perfectly with my plans for the truck. Old flatbed dually, still working around the farm. I'll take some sheet metal and a welder and see what I can do with the cooler myself, then stick it on the back of the truck when I take the '48 Ford tractor to shows.
  14. Mine ain't that nice, and by the time I went out there and back, I'd have spent more than I could sell it for. Besides, I think it would look good in the back of my truck.
  15. I'll work on a picture. It's not a vending machine style cooler, but the type you would fill with ice and take with you. It's in rough shape, the top is missing and the bottom is rusted out. I'd like to get it fixed up and throw it in the '56 Ford for truck shows.
  16. You must be confused with RC, or maybe Dr. Pepper...
  17. I've got an old Coke cooler, and have been having a hard time finding information/ a value for it. I'd like to know when it was made, and possibly see if it could be fixed up. I did a Google search, but pretty much just found places selling restored Coke stuff. Anyone familiar with this stuff?
  18. I'm not familiar with the M&P, but the Glocks can only be converted from .40 to 9mm. A 9mm can't be converted to shoot .40, due to the larger diameter barrel needing a bigger hole in the end of the slide. I would think the M&P would be the same.
  19. Dixie Gun Works over in Union City might be able to help you.
  20. I see. Didn't think about hunting with a suppressor. A friend of mine had one of Marty's .458 rifles, I think it was a 20" barrel. Really nice rifle.

My book says the following: Marlin 25N: A Marlin promotional model. Bolt action rifle chambered for the .22 LR only. Seven shot clip magazine* with a 22" MicroGroove barrel. Receiver grooved for scope mount. Walnut finished birch stock. Gun weighs 5.5 lbs. *That is a direct quote from the book regarding the seven shot 'clip magazine', not me. The book lists a model 25NC, which is the same gun, only in Mossy Oak camo. It says it was introduced in 2000. Nothing about when the 25N was first made.
  22. That's awesome. Any particular reason you went that short on the .458, or just wanted to? Either one is okay with me, that's a cool gun.
