  1. I agree with both of those points. If she does get purse- snatched, now she has an armed aggressor to deal with. That said, check out A Holster's pocket holsters. Welcome to Aholster I have one for my 642, and it's an excellent holster. I imagine a pocket holster would be the best option for purse carry.
  2. I've never used Drive Way Heat, but the fact that it's calcium chloride bothers me. Calcium chloride eats/ rusts metal like you would not believe. Do not get calcium chloride on any firearm that you intend to have in good shape. It will rust it up very, very quickly.
  3. You can store it at my place for a while... I actually had a herd of 'mystery cows' show up a week or two ago. Got it sorted out, but they're still here. What's one more?
  4. Wow. I really had no idea that dogs could be trained to do that.
  5. Really? CandlePowerForums It might be nice to have a light forum here, but I agree with Jeff. Doesn't seem like it would see much traffic.
  6. The TM for it might be available over on steelsoldiers.com. If nothing else, I'm sure someone there can help with the problem.
  7. I was unaware that police dogs were able to detect the scent of metal and a small amount of smokeless powder. What makes you think they would smell a firearm?
  8. I live almost in Kentucky, and my old pickup only goes 55 MPH. I imagine our drive is similar. It's worth the trip.
  9. That would be ideal, and I'd like to do just that. I'd love to give it to a charity that could give it to a flood victim. Problem is, I don't know how I personally would orchestrate giving it to a flood victim. Short of a craigslist ad, I don't know how to make folks aware of it, and if your home has been flooded, what are the odds you're on your computer browsing craigslist? If y'all know anyone that can use them, say the word.
  10. Hey all. Does anyone know where I can donate good appliances to? I just replaced my stove and fridge, and I'd like to donate my old ones. Problem is, I can't figure out which organizations accept appliances. The Salvation Army doesn't, and I don't believe Goodwill takes them either. Any suggestions? Both units work, so if there are any TGO members that need an electric stove or a fridge, say the word.
  11. Almost any compressor with a tank is better than one of those 12 volt units.
  12. Very nice looking rifle. I'm not familiar with the Paratrooper versions, why doesn't it have the bayonet lug? Great family heirloom, thanks for sharing.
  13. Mike, I'd call 16 gallons or bigger a big tank for a 110 unit. All the ones I've used have been unable to fill the tank at all while running tools at the same time, and take several minutes to fill once the tool is shut off. I've got a 20 gallon Husky in my shop that takes about 10 minutes to fill up from empty. I bought it before I got the 220 wired up.
  14. Oldogy is right on the money. Stay away from the 110 volt oil less compressors with big (16-20 gallon) tanks. The tank drains down quickly using air tools, and it takes the compressor a while to fill it back up. For airing up the occasional tire or running an impact wrench for a few minutes, the pancake style would probably do alright. The 110 compressors will last a long time if used every once in a while, or for light duty. The company I work for outfits our service trucks with the 110 volt oil less compressors. They get used heavily every day to run air tools and blow out equipment. They don't last long at all under that kind of load. On average, the compressors get replaced every 8 or 9 months. In my opinion, the Rigid brand with two tanks are very good compressors in that class. They seemed to last about a year, maybe a bit more. Again, though, that's under a constant workload, running around 15-20 hours a week. Most household users probably won't run one 20 hours in a year. For any type of serious work, like a shop, you need to look at 220 compressors or gasoline powered portable units.
  15. The best thing to do when being tailgated? Move over and let them tailgate the guy doing 40 in the fast lane. Both of the bad drivers get annoyed even more, and you just get to watch and laugh. Seriously, good call letting it go. Life's too short to get upset over stupid stuff.
  16. After being in the flood, I would lean toward completely disassembling the gun and cleaning it with your favorite gun cleaner/ gun oil, not just soaking the assembled gun in oil. Insurance won't let you remove your property from the car until after it's towed?
  17. It's probably fine. I'd toss the ammo, but a good cleaning and oiling should take care of the revolver.

    PAINTBALL

I used to. Spent a lot of money, worked around paintball for a while, currently have stuff taking up space in a closet. It was fun, though.
  19. You know you could've just asked me, right? I just finished off a box of 50 Panasonics I bought from OpticsPlanet, they were decent. Seems like they had a slightly shorter life than my SureFire brand batteries, but otherwise were fine.
  20. I was thinking about this earlier. A lot of factories and warehouse facilities are underwater. Aside from the down time, product damage, etc associated with that, the facilities have equipment in them. Computers, copiers, forklifts, etc...odds are, those items will need serious repair, if not all out replacement. I'd guess very few of those businesses had flood insurance. The cost of repairing/ replacing equipment may be enough to close some small companies. I hope not, though.
  21. I don't have the specifics right in front of me, but the TN code spells out what the sign has to say, and they have to be placed every 100 feet. Figure 1.00 per sign, every hundred feet. It adds up quickly.
  22. I've met several TGOers, in everything from a trade deal, to taking a class together, to being 3 hours from home and having a meal with a bunch of them. All of the TGO members I've met have been great folks. Really great folks.
  23. I've seen some folks with the 'SawVivor' while I was backpacking. I was really impressed, have been meaning to order one.
