  1. I believe there's a tow truck museum in Chattanooga, but I don't know anything else about it. There's the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, too.
  2. How do you figure the value of gold will not go down? It's at a high, and has a poor average rate of return. That's due to the fact that the value shoots upward every once in a while, then drops back down. It's a very volatile thing to put money in.
  3. I just remembered, Uncle Dave Macon Days in Murfreesboro. The Wilson County Fair is pretty good, too.

I get to Dickson every once in a while for work. I'm well aware the DPD has bigger things to worry about than me. Might need to check in on the Co-op. Have I ever told you about the Bethpage Police force? If I ever find them, I'll be sure to let you know!
  5. Alright, on the surface that may be obvious. Nashville; country music, Memphis; blues and barbecue. Those are the obvious, easy attractions to our state. I guess what I'm wondering is, what else does our state offer? What attractions are on the back roads, that don't get much attention? A post on another thread brought Tennessee Highway 52 Tourist Trail - Portland, Westmoreland, Red Boiling Springs, Lafayette, Macon County to my attention. Until then, I'd never heard of most of those things, including the shortest railroad tunnel that isn't far from my house. There's the annual Truck and Tractor show at the Jamboree on Long Hollow Pike, and the Antique Tractor Parade in Bethpage. I've heard about a gasoline- free parade in Red Boiling Springs, but I don't know if it's an annual event. It's nice to get out and cruise the country at 55 mph on a two lane road, but what should we stop and see along the way?
  6. There have been a couple of threads on this in the Survival forum lately. My opinion, in short. Gold value is at a high right now. I try to avoid purchasing things when they're near the top of their value. As a long term financial investment, if you take the last 7 or so years out of the picture, gold runs somewhere in the neighborhood of 4% per year. No thanks. I don't have any gold. I don't intend to buy any. Your mileage may vary.

I only tease because I like the Dickson folk. Besides, 300 pounds could be two people...

I recall driving by right after they opened the Dunkin Donuts in Smyrna. They had the big "Grand Opening" banners out, and as I was driving by, I noticed several police cars in the lot, and an officer holding the door open for someone. Good coffee, too. Besides, have you been to Dickson? "So, how large is the police force here?" "...'Bout three hunnert pounds, three fifty maybe..."
  9. Wow. I saw the hill on 31E up toward Westmoreland the day I drove up your way. How do they really fix that? Shore up the side of the hill with concrete?

There's a Dunkin Donuts in Dickson? Didn't expect that.
  11. Same here. My last credit card resides in a bunch of tiny pieces, inside the shotgun shell that blew it apart. Not really necessary, but more fun than just cutting it up.
  12. This. Vietnam Veterans Blvd, aka Highway 386.
  13. $220.00, plus the cost of the 10/22, and I think you're close to the cost of an M1 Carbine! I'd like to see one of these in person. Is the stock a completely new item, or a refit M1 stock?
  14. It was backed up pretty heavily for 4 miles today, and in the process of backing up for another 2 or so when I went by. It looks like the hole is the width of both traffic lanes and part of the shoulders now. I guess they had to dig back to solid ground to fix it.
  15. I grew up right outside Lexington. Not much going on there. Scott's Barbecue is on the right on Hwy 412 as you come into town from the west. They're worth stopping at, if you like barbecue.
  16. That's cool. I'm not sure if it's cool enough to coax me out of $130.00, but cool nonetheless.
  17. For the locals, the sign is located between mile markers 3 and 4 on the eastbound side of the road. As soon as you go underneath the overpass, the sign is on your right. I stopped and got a picture of it also, but TDR beat me to the punch.
  18. "...Swing that hammer, break that rock, Lord that ole sun is hot, They'll knock you down, if you don't do it right..."
  19. Oxy/ Acetylene torch, die grinder with a cut off wheel, "Screw it and order a new one. You'll spend more paying us to try and take this apart than a new one will cost."
  20. I need to pay more attention. Came home that way and didn't see it. When did the first clean up happen? I saw a guy picking up trash on the section a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't think it was TGO related. I can probably get a picture of the sign tomorrow.
  21. Are they having an auction, or just a massive sale?
  22. As others have said, the blue LocTite can be taken apart again. The red LocTite, however, is not permanent. It can also be disassembled, though some applications may require heat to do it.
  23. I just picked up a Saiga in 5.45x39. Ammo is readily available online and reasonably cheap, seems to be in the .11 cents per round range. The Saigas come in a 'sporter' configuration, but can be converted to the traditional AK style stock with a pistol grip.
  24. Hey, watch it now. You have four lights in view, I only have 5. Never owned a Coast light, though. For the record, I usually only have one light on my person, and one or two more in the work truck. I do need to get a picture of the collection, though.
  25. Find a gun you like, carry it. You'll find a variety of opinions on the matter, and folks that carry everything from a little .380 in a pocket to guys carrying full sized .45 autos every day. What is it about the Taurus that makes you want to upgrade? Do you want a different caliber, or to move to a semi automatic? Longer barrel? Welcome to TGO, by the way.
