TGO's Sumner County Adopt-A-Highway (Choosing a date)
56FordGuy replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in Events and Gatherings
I wasn't sure if they scheduled that in advance, or just when it needed to be cut. In any case, it's getting pretty tall so I'd expect it to be soon. I'm tied up the 25th, but otherwise I should be able to make it. -
TGO's Sumner County Adopt-A-Highway (Choosing a date)

Before we commit to a date, can I ask that we wait until that stretch is mowed again? Is there a way to find out when that's scheduled to be? -
I've got an IH 154 LoBoy that I'm either going to trade +cash, or just outright sell and buy an ATV.
-
Nah, I'd hope that my ATV ran well at least 30-40% of the time, with parts that weren't gold plated. :p Seriously, I have a couple of bigger tractors to do heavier work with. I just need something that I can get down smaller trails and into spots that the other stuff can't get to as easily.
-
Not real sure. I may be able to get a Honda (see above post), depends on what the first guy in line decides. I should know by Tuesday. If it doesn't work out, I really don't have a preference. Something that I can still get parts for in a few years.

How many miles are a lot on one? I have no experience with them. I need something to use around the farm, spraying fences and pulling firewood with. I'd like a 4x4. I may have the chance to buy an '02 Honda 400 ES 4x4 with 2000 miles, and ITP wheels on it. Anything in particular I should check or look at?
-
Do we have any four wheeler enthusiasts/ experts in the house? Or, anyone know of a good ATV focused forum? I'm looking to trade a tractor for one, but I need to do some research and I'm not sure where to start.

I agree. I'd have explained to the server that I only had cash, and no ID. If there are any issues with that, I'd be glad to speak to the manager. I agree. I can understand asking for ID if someone uses a card, so that they can verify the name on the card matches the person using it. Unless they're recording the name of folks paying with $100.00 bills, asking for ID doesn't seem to accomplish anything.

This, +1. For one, if the contractor shows up and doesn't strike me as coherent or professional enough to carry a handgun, I'll find a new contractor. Like was said before, there are a lot of dopers and hacks that do plumbing/ roofing/ tree work/ etc. If the guy strikes me as any of the above, I'll find someone else, gun or not. Now, if I do have a contractor come in and discover that he's carrying, I'd probably be happy about it. Along with all the reasons the other posters have mentioned, the fact that he's carrying tells me that he understands that he has a personal responsibility for his own safety. If he understands personal responsibility that well, odds are he gets it in regards to the work he does, also. That said, I generally do my own work.

The Publix store in Gallatin carries it. I think Midtown in Nashville has it, also.

Among other things, Consumer Reports has said that leasing is the most expensive way to operate a vehicle. Buy used, let someone else take the big depreciation hit. Even better, buy used that you can pay cash for.

Fire at Tenn. Mosque Building Site Ruled Arson
56FordGuy replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't agree with or condone burning or destroying anything associated with the mosque/ community center. The fact remains though, that it is a powerful radicallizing tool. The radical Muslims can take this as an example to the non radical Muslims as how horrible and hateful the infidels are, and why they should be radical, too. -

It's not likely at all, but possible. It just seems rather strange that there's the controversy in New York, then suddenly a Muslim cab driver is attacked, only to be in the Mayor's office within a few hours. Not days later, the equipment is burned at the Murfreesboro site. It could be exactly as it appears, but it seems just as likely that it's been done to garner sympathy for the Muslim community. -

Earth Liberation Front - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The ELF then set fire to the Michigan State University on New Years Eve, using a gasoline bomb to cause $1.1 million in damages, because of their GMO-engineering. The next day, commercial logging equipment was set on fire, with "ELF" and "Go Log in Hell" spraypainted on a truck. In March 2008, four activists were charged for both the arsons 2001 In March, a total of thirty SUVs were torched, belonging to Joe Romania's dealership, in Oregon, with damages estimated at $1 million. The action was claimed in support of Jeff "Free" Luers, who targeted the very same dealership and was in court for the charges at the time.[45] He was then sentenced to twenty-two years in jail, later revised to ten. 2009 On March 23 the ELF claim the burning of an excavator in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. In one of many recent anonymous communiques, the ELF reported to Bite Back; "Maybe we have not collapsed the system of domination with these actions, but it begins with actions like these."[63] On September 4 ELF claimed responsibility for using a stolen excavator to overturn two AM radio towers belonging to station KRKO near Seattle, Washington; they claimed that radio waves are dangerous.[64] A Texas man was arrested after construction workers found a disabled construction vehicle grafiteed with the words "ANOTHER TRACTOR DECOMMISSIONED BY THE E.L.F." [65] Again, while it's not real likely that this was an environmentalist related attack, it is indeed possible. As for the 'immediate bent', I also wouldn't be surprised that Bubba decided to torch it as an anti- Muslim attack. Regardless of the motivations behind it, I'm confident that the majority of media coverage will only take the "Ignorant, bigoted man attacks peaceful Islamic center" angle, so I wanted to mention the fact that there are other things to be considered, that might not get as much attention. -

None, specifically related to the mosque. However, groups like the Earth Liberation Front have been known for burning construction and logging equipment across the country, along with 'gas guzzlers' and other vehicles that find deem harmful to the planet. While it's probably unlikely, gasoline poured over construction equipment does seem to be in line with their usual method. -
It's a new shop being opened by a TGO member. Last I heard, he was in the process of becoming an approved vendor on here. Scheduled to open soon, but I don't know when.

Question on Selling a Handgun Across State Lines
56FordGuy replied to DavidCBaker's topic in Handguns
Legally, you can ship to an FFL in another state. However, some FFL's will not accept a firearm from an individual as their own policy. Check with the licensee you're sending the gun to. -
For a while, I thought I was the only one here that drank Boddingtons!

Back on topic for a second. I sent TDR a text. That is all.

I wouldn't be surprised if we later find out that this was staged, done by pro- mosque folks to try and garner sympathy. Or the greenie terrorists. I've read about them setting fire to SUVs and construction equipment before. -
What's your budget? I have to say, I've been fairly impressed by the Champion line.

I guess the numbers are changing as people vote. When I posted, the Arizona tag THX4MY with the flag background was #57, now it's moved to #48.
-
#57 rocks. Surprised that #68 isn't more popular.

You do realize you don't have to post this in every forum (3 so far), right? General Information Might be best to begin the process of becoming a vendor here before advertising yourself as such. Welcome, though!
