$75.00 is not the every day price, but I've seen them on Ebay for that every once in a while. They're such a specific item, the market is pretty small.

We did find one road killed critter, and the skeletal remains of another. Didn't pick those up. Yep, everyone worked (and froze) their butts off.

The Surefire LED lights can run a pretty long time on a set of batteries, but their incandescent lights do go through them pretty quick. Most of the incandescent lights have an hour to 90 minute runtime on batteries. The Harbor Freight type spotlights are what I was talking about when I mentioned large, clunky spotlights. Plug them into a cigarette lighter type light. You might try a Surefire MR1. I don't claim to know anything about it, other than what they have on their website. It's an IR specific light, and I've seen used ones for around $75.00. If the IR light carries further than incandescent light, it might be enough to do what you want to do.

Well, here's the report. Went pretty well. We met as planned, and it took about two hours to clean our section of highway. Nothing terribly exciting happened, save for a deer running out in front of us as we were headed back to the cars afterwards. I didn't get an exact count on the number of trash bags we filled, but I'd estimate at least 12-14. Not as bad as I'd expected it would be, with this being the first clean up. That's us, at the start this morning. That's TrekBike on the right, and StreetKW05 slightly behind him. Mechanix_X is in front of the sign, and LagerHead is to the left of him in the front. I'm beside the sign on the left, and Rightwinger was behind the camera. It was a good morning, doing something nice for the community with a great bunch of folks.

How bright do you need it to be at that distance? Read the newspaper bright, or identify a large shape bright? Does your MagLite currently do the job? There are incandescent lights that can illuminate that distance very well, but they're usually either large, clunky 'spotlights' or fairly expensive, short battery life lights. The Surefire M6 would work for your application, but it's not cheap and 6 batteries last 20 minutes with the high output bulb. I can think of a few different LED lights that could work, but unless you modify one with an IR LED it may not work for your application. I'm not very familiar with IR technology, but there may not be an exact same- type IR LED for every non IR led, which means a direct modification of an existing light may take some engineering. I have to ask, what do you need the IR stuff for, anyway?
-
It would not have an adjustable focus, but it will throw pretty well without it. What type of distance are you looking to light up?
-
Essentially yes, you would only be using the Mag body as a host if you went the modification route. I'm not aware of any IR led upgrades that will fit your light, but I imagine you could have one made fairly easily. If you want a light that you can run an IR filter on, I'd take a look in the classifieds. A member has a Surefire weaponlight for sale, with an IR filter. You can put a regular Surefire tailcap on the body of the light and use it as a regular flashlight. It will produce about the same amount of light as your Mag light, maybe a bit more, and do it in a much smaller light.

Not much today, we finished around 9:00 Full report later.

Take I-65 North to Vietnam Veteran's Parkway/ Highway 386. As you're going east toward Gallatin, get off on exit 3. The exit ramp has two lanes, one goes north and one south. Go north, in the left hand lane closest to the wall. You will be able to see the Waffle House from the exit ramp. The ramp curves around and joins Highway 31E/ Gallatin Road. Make your way over to the left lane and turn left. The Waffle House and Exxon station are right beside each other, and will be right after you get onto Gallatin Road.

If you want to continue using D batteries, you may have to go LED. I'm not aware of any drop in incandescent upgrades. If you really want to go wild with it (new switch, different type of batteries, limited run times, etc) you can get a very, very bright flashlight. It may only run for 15-20 minutes or so though, and require high output rechargeable batteries in a special battery holder to fit that light, but you could get 600 or so lumens out of it.

The current plan is to meet there, but not eat. We can have breakfast if y'all want to, but since it had not been brought up I hadn't planned for it. The schedule is pretty flexible thoough, so if folks want to get breakfast we can.

I spoke with the lady at the Department of Transportation, we are set for Sunday. The current plan is to meet at the Waffle House located right off of exit 3. When you exit Vietnam Veteran's, go north on Gallatin Rd and the Waffle House will be on your left, next door to the Exxon station. We're planning to meet at 7:00 AM. We can move the start time a bit in either direction, but we need to agree on what it is before hand. We'll have a cooler with bottled water, and Joe at Hero Gear has generously donated 10 reflective safety vests. The DOT requires we wear the vest and put out litter pick up signs, the signs and trash bags will be provided by the DOT. They will also provide vests if necessary, but it looks like we'll have enough of our own. The section was just recently mowed, but I would recommend long pants, boots, and gloves. I don't know if the DOT will provide the grabber stick things. If you intend to join us this Sunday, please respond to this thread so that we can get an accurate headcount and I can ensure I have your volunteer form. I have to turn in the volunteer forms on Friday, the 5th so if I do not have yours please contact me. I have volunteer release forms from the following people: John F. Robert E. Brent S. David G. Blake B. Timothy W. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask here or contact me. Thanks!

I will have to go through them to be sure, I'll update this thread once I do. If you have filled one out already, I should have it.

Alright y'all, our planned Adopt A Highway cleanup is this Sunday, the 7th. What time do y'all want to start? I plan to get in touch with our contact at the DOT tomorrow and sort out the details. I plan to drop off the volunteer release forms on Friday, November 5th. If you would like to help, you will need to fill out a Volunteer Release Form and send it to me so I can turn it in to the DOT. You can PM me for details and the link for the form. I have several forms from y'all already, I'll be going through them and contacting y'all to ensure I have all the forms in order. Thanks!

Again, terribly sorry to hear this Jamie. Thoughts and prayers for y'all.

I'm not a 1911 guy, but I wouldn't go more than 300-400 for it like it is. If it hadn't been refinished, then that's a different story. No matter what you do to it now, it will always be a refinished gun, and that's hard on collector value.

I noticed that your first pictures show the belt clips slipped inside the slots on the holster. On OhShoot's advice, I moved mine out of the slots into the 'tuckable' position. It helped the holster fit much better. Might be worth experimenting with.
-
Nice holster. When I got mine, he was at 4-6 weeks, I think. I think it was worth the wait.

Only about 3,500- 4,000 of those miles are on a personal vehicle. The rest are work related.

I'd rather they go into the 3rd leading 3-2 than 3-1. They stop playing to win, and just start playing not to lose. Just taking it easy, trying to run out the clock, it seems. You can see them slow down, and as a result the opponent usually picks up a point or two, which leads to either barely winning, or a loss.

I try not to miss too many. Any idea why they have Lindback in instead of Pekka tonight? I can't see the game on TV, following it on the ESPN website.
