Virginia Repeals One Handgun Per Month Law
56FordGuy replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Does Virginia have any other stupid laws like this that y'all can think of? -
"Integrity is doing the right thing when no one else is watching. " I'm a bit surprised that so many of y'all are in favor of keeping the ammo. If the OP didn't intend to keep it, if he really was going to call the shipper, then why go ask if it's safe to shoot? Just sayin...

Rick Santorum is resurrected as the conservative alternative
56FordGuy replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
No Santorum support here. Highly unimpressed by Captain Ass Splatter. If he can't figure out this new 'internet' thing, how can he lead a country? Besides, his complete disregard for personal freedoms gets on my bad side real fast. You know what? I would almost prefer that to some RINO. The Democrats may well run this country into the ground, but at least they're honest about what they intend to do. The current crop of Republicans seem far too willing to piss on my back and tell me it's raining. Originally, I believe it was only land owners that had the right to vote, because they had a vested interest in the country. Wonder how a proposal like that would fly now, since half the country just votes for whoever promises to give them more of the other half's stuff? Mm. May not hold my breath on that one. -
Thanks!

Is the 'New Posts' option gone? Used to just hit that instead of reading forum by forum.

How do you move your safe around?
56FordGuy replied to alwaysonjohn's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I used a forklift and an appliance dolly. Hire someone to move it. -
Coin store/ coin show would be a good start. There's a place called The Coin Purse in Nashville, but get several opinions of their value. Coin shops are a lot like pawn shops, and some are more honest than others when it comes to what they'll tell you your stuff is worth.

Do you have some studies to prove that? To me it's a matter of principle more than a matter of cost. Criminals should not be receiving government benefits. No welfare, no food stamps, no unemployment, and no government housing.

Chocolate, Cookie Dough and Oreos What could go Wrong ?

If it wasn't this weekend, sure! Right now my usual mechanic is recovering from having all 4 wisdom teeth taken out. Not sure how soon to expect him to be back at it. Tell her congratulations! -

Drop some off on your way in to work? -
Well, that's no good. I'm looking for another Nova Tac like I picked up at the shop that night. I absolutely loved that light, but unfortunately I lost it. Have been looking for a month or two now, no sign of it.

That rifle is to lever guns what Toby Keith and Sugarland are to country music. Technically, it may barely fit the basic description of being a lever gun, but the heart and soul of it is gone, and 50 years from now it will hopefully only be remembered as the abomination that it is. Second, nice to see someone else from Bethpage.

PM received, and responded. Thanks!

This is a fairly simple undertaking. When you want to organize a cleanup, simply post here and organize it. Select whatever date you'd like, then have all the volunteers print, sign, and return to you the liability forms available on the TDOT website. Go by the TDOT office before your clean up date and turn in the volunteer forms. They will give you trash bags, "Litter pickup ahead" signs, and if necessary reflective vests. Then have the clean up day. Fill the provided bags, and pile them in one central location. The first business day after the clean up (If you do it on a weekend, the following Monday), call or go back by the TDOT office. Tell them where the trash bags were left, and return the items that they provided, the signs, any unused trash bags, and the reflective vests if you need them. I told the lady that we already had ours, and that was fine. I just deleted a bunch more, we should be good now.

Yep, got the email where you tried to PM me. It's fixed now, if you'd like to send it again.

I want to give this thread one bump so that interested folks may have the opportunity to see it. If someone here is interested in handling the program, please contact me by Thursday, January 12th. Otherwise, I intend to contact TDOT and Hero Gear on Friday to withdraw from the program and find out what to do with the reflective vests. Thanks!

Dos Marguritas in Gallatin now HCP Friendly
56FordGuy replied to MikePapa1's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Ate at Dos Marguritas a few weeks ago. Didn't realize they were ever posted, but don't eat there often. Every time I've been in, seems like they had ads or those $1 off coupons for gunshows on the counter near the register. -
I know there are some stupid people out there, but sheesh.

As I waited for it to load, I was just thinking "Please don't let this be Lexington, TN". -
Mike is right. I remember Okey was working on one a while back for a similar problem, but I don't remember what he wound up doing to it.

Take it apart! Really, it's already broken. If you take it apart, it's not like you're going to hurt it. Flip it upside down and take that bottom cover plate off, you can see pretty much everything in there. Obviously, unplug it first. Mine quit working a while back, I took it apart and found a wire end had broken off. Put a new end on and it's been running fine since. That shouldn't be your problem if the motor is running, but these things aren't all that complicated. I'd bet you can fix it.

As y'all know, a while back the members of TGO adopted the east bound lanes of Vietnam Vetertan's Blvd/ Hwy 386 in Sumner County, from mile marker 4 to mile marker 6. We hosted the first cleanup, and Joe at Hero Gear generously donated 10 reflective safety vests. We had a good turnout, great volunteers, and made quite an impact on that stretch of roadway. Unfortunately, we have not done much with it since then and that's my fault. The section of roadway has been kept clean, but we have not had any more orchestrated group clean up days. I've been hopeful that my schedule would free up to the point that I could put something together, but the exact opposite has happened. Between work, and a couple of other things I have going on, I'm working some long hours and still building a waiting list. It's a good problem to have, but it doesn't look like I can expect things to clear up for a while. As a result, I simply can't commit the time to the Adopt A Highway program. If we continue the program and have another organized clean up I would be glad to come help, but with things being like they are right now I have no way of knowing what my schedule will be with hardly any notice. With that said, I would love it if someone here was in a position to take over the program. I can get you the reflective vests that Hero Gear donated, and go over the basics of how it works. There is not a large time investment required, simply schedule the cleanup day, then go by the TDOT office before and pick up the supplies/ turn in the volunteer waivers. After the cleanup day, go back to the TDOT office to turn in the signs and let them know where the bags of litter were left. I travel for work, and lately have been spending a lot of time out of town, so it's difficult for me to go by the TDOT office and pick up/ turn in things. If no one is able to take the lead, then I will contact TDOT and withdraw from the program, in addition to contacting Hero Gear and returning the vests. I really hate that I've been unable to do more with this, but I've simply had to prioritize things and unfortunately this has not received the attention it needed.

Dave, call BJ's Trailers over in Lebanon. I have one of their 14,000 lb trailers, and overall have been impressed. I don't know what their smallest trailer is, but if they have something to fit your needs then do consider them.

I have yet to have a good experience at The Outpost. If the prices and distance from my house weren't enough, the lack of service just put them out for me. I went in when I was putting together my first AR, the guy behind the counter went out of his way to tell me that assembling a lower myself was a "piss poor idea", to use an exact quote. Anyone who has ever done it knows that a trained monkey could probably 'build' an AR lower. As an aside, I have no idea how they got my email address. After unsubscribing from their list three or four times, I finally had to set my email to filter all their stuff into the spam folder. In any case, D&T not only has better prices and is closer to me, but I've never had the guys there display such an arrogant, condescending attitude.

And a Merry Christmas to y'all. Truth be told, I'm more excited for those boys than I am anything right now. I might even find another beer or two lurking in the back of the fridge, which would just be icing on the cake.
