  1. Gallatin is also an option, though depending on exactly where you work in Nashville it may be right at the edge of 45 minutes to get there during rush hour.
  2. Awesome! Glad to hear it.
  3. Could you take one of the old style window racks and simply mount it beneath the window? When I bought my truck used, it had one mounted inside the rear window. I took it out, and it looked like it could be attached lower if you wanted to.
  4.   I loved loading .30 carbine. Found a load that shot great, and was about 1/2 the cost of factory stuff.
  5.   Vandy is a private university and should be able to set policies as they see fit without big brother telling them what to do.    If students disagree with the school's policies, they are free to take their education dollars elsewhere.
  6.     Yeah! The school can't tell private groups how to operate! Christianity is about loving one another, unless you're gay. Or Muslim. Lord knows we can't have them Muslims and gays around the Christians- might be contagious or something!    So let's use the government to make this private university do what we want! Yay freedom! Yay America! C'mon, bubba, let's get 'em!
  7. They must be on their way back from Antioch.
  8.     Y'all don't chain things down in Florida?
  9. The Scout can certainly be disassembled. However, if you're going to refinish it then you might want to mask off the lens and do it with the light in one piece. That way all the threads and internal parts are easily protected, instead of having to mask them all off.    Just my  :2cents:
  10.   Yeah, the citizens of LA can probably take down their "I'm not Dorner, please don't shoot me" signs now. :)
  11. Are you trying to bend it back, or just wondering how it happened?   If it were mine, I would remove the hammer and try to straighten it in a press. There's the risk of cracking or breaking it, though.
  12. There used to be somebody advertising on Craigslist out that way where you could dump trees and old wood.    Might just put up a sign that says "Free Firewood" and see if anyone hauls them off for you. :)
  13. I saw two ugly, beat up 552s in a gun store a few years back. If I knew then what I know now I'd have bought them both.    Love mine, wouldn't mind having another. Congrats on the find!
  14.   Somehow, I missed that. Good to know!   I wonder where the line is drawn at 'engaged in the business'.
  15. I've considered this, but unless you just like to build things you will spend more than you could get a stripped lower for. Most 80% lowers used to run $60-80, with some up over $100. The jig is another $60-100, depending on which you go with. By now, you could've bought a decent stripped lower; at least 3 months ago.    Once you do the machine work, assuming you don't bugger it up then you have a block of raw aluminum that needs to be engraved with whatever markings you want it to have, and then finished. Not sure what engraving would cost, but I'll ignore that since it's really not necessary. Having the lower Dura or Ceracoated would probably cost between $50-100 as well. In the end, you've probably spent at least $200 which would usually buy a nice stripped lower.    I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just pointing out some things to consider. I'd still like to do it. :)   *Edited to remove something I had wrong.*
  16.   Trouble comes when you do both...   My three horses cost more in a month than I've spent on guns in...well, much more than a month!
  17. FFL's can receive firearms from individuals. However, some choose not to and only do transfers from other FFL holders.
  18.   I quit drinking, but I vividly recall the change. I only drank the bottles, and when the packaging changed the beer changed. It got lighter, more hoppy, and less flavor.     I would drive clear across town to find the 'old' PBR, until I couldn't find it anywhere anymore.
  19.   Not only did PBR prices go up, but they changed the formula. It went to swill when they changed the packaging a year or so ago.
  20.   So, I take it you would say religious reasons then? Fair enough, we can all believe what we choose.    I don't understand why the BSA is considering this. They have to realize it will drum up lots of opposition. The news report I heard on the radio said they were doing it to try and boost falling enrollment, I didn't think there would be all that many gay folks that wanted to be involved with them.
  21.   Just curious, not criticizing. What's your reasoning? Religious, concern for their safety, something else?
  22. I love the Remington 552, seconded closely by the 572. :)
  23. Depending on how you open that can, the edges may require some attention before you do anything else with it. If you use the opener that comes with it, they're pretty jagged.
  24.   It's not 'right' now. Taking it apart can't hurt!
