Studies have shown people spend anywhere from 18-40% more when using plastic vs cash. Like Greg said, credit card companies aren't in business to offer you something for free. They're making a buck or two, even on people who think they're outsmarting the system. "Everybody has a credit card, its how things are done." When is the last time a big group of people made a good decision? "I need to borrow money so I can have a good credit score so I can borrow more money." Okay. You do that, bud. [emoji106] I'll keep on being old and boring and buying stuff I can pay for. I may miss a few percent off or cash back or airline miles, but I'm okay with that. My system seems to be working out pretty okay for us so far. Besides, I can usually negotiate the same discounts you get with store cards by offering to take my business elsewhere. Everybody gets to pick their own system, so if credit cards are "working" for you congratulations.

Truck. Chain. Those red head anchors will pull right out. They may bust the concrete when they do, but a thief isn't likely to care.

I think it means Dallas Cowboys fans are gay, but I hope not. I find that offensive and insulting. Don't you compare us to Cowboys fans. [emoji38][emoji38]

That's a year to the day after I joined. Still looks like '09 was a big year for this place.

Thanks! January '09. Been very fortunate to meet a bunch of really great folks from here over the last 6, almost 7 years. [emoji106]

Doesn't work for me either. Tapatalk on the iPhone or on safari. Oh well.

Yup. They technically can dispute the amount, but I've never had them question anything. If the title is for a 2014 4 horse gooseneck and you write $50 they may, but for the most part it seems they really don't care much. I could easily see an older bumper pull that's been sitting in a field for ten years selling for $100 or so, heck there are some actually in use that aren't worth much more than that.

Trailer plates, if I recall correctly are $25/ year or $80 for a lifetime tag. The yearly tags say "trailer e" for trailer expires, and the lifetime say "semi" for semi permanent. I bought the yearly tag for my horse trailer just because I knew I would be moving. All I really wanted was the title in my name but couldn't do that without buying a tag. I would consider doing a one year tag on yours just to get the title swapped. Tax on a $150 trailer and $25 for a tag shouldn't be too bad.

Can you point to a law in any state that says visiting vehicles must comply with the registration laws of the state being visited? I'm really not trying to be difficult, but I've not been able to find anything that indicates that is the case. Lots of people like to throw around anecdotal evidence like "a cop said" or "a buddy knew a guy 20 years ago" and follow it up with often incorrect information. I would point to the People v White, 2003. While its in California and refers specifically to a front license plate, the principle is the same. https://scholar.google.com/scholar_case?case=12290618282660682952 In short: In White, supra, 107 Cal.App.4th at page 643, the officer observed a vehicle with one Arizona license plate affixed to the rear of the vehicle. He stopped the vehicle, mistakenly believing that the single Arizona license plate was a violation of the law. But, like Michigan and Florida, Arizona requires only one license plate. Thus, that which the officer observed was not unlawful. (White, supra, at pp. 643-644.) A trailer with no tag being towed by a TN registered vehicle is legal in TN and other states, just like only having a single plate on the towing vehicle. I have been unable to find anything that states otherwise but would love to see it if it's out there. I suspect part of the reason I can't find anything is because it could easily be construed as violating the interstate commerce clause. Not to be confused with commercial vehicles and trucking, that's a different thing. :)

There's no reason to do that, and the clerk's office doesn't just hand out temp tags any time you ask. If your vehicle is legal where it's registered, then it's legal out of state as well. Do TN residents in the northeast have to pull over and put on a front license plate when they go to Virginia? No, because the car is legal in its home state. Do you have to get a Virginia safety inspection before you can travel there? No, because the car is legal in its home state. Trailers are the same.
-
No. TN doesn't require tags in order for trailers to be road legal, and other states will honor that. If the vehicle is legal where it is registered it is legal to operate out of state as well. If your tow vehicle has TN tags and your utility trailer has no tag, you're okay. State lines don't make a difference. That isnt to say some out of state officer won't misunderstand the law and pull you over, but you shouldn't be ticketed because he will find the vehicle is legal. A lot of us buy tags anyway just to avoid the potential hassle of having to explain it and wait on the officer to look up the laws.

I'd be way less concerned about insurance fraud than I would folks casing the place to come back later. Considering how hard it is to find good help to start with, and the high number of scammers, flakes, and otherwise shady folks on Craigslist I would steer clear.

Turns out, you can only claim farm exempt if you have a tax certificate and produce $1,000 or more of revenue per year on your "farm". However, the specific horse trailer question is answered at the bottom of page ten here: http://tn.gov/assets/entities/revenue/attachments/agricultural.pdf Short answer- no exemption, you will have to pay tax. I paid the tax to register my big horse trailer, and am getting things together to title my bought used, bill of sale, never titled flatbed gooseneck out here in Wyoming. Transferring the horse trailer registration was much easier than trying to title a trailer that doesn't have one. It's not incredibly difficult, but there are some steps that have to be taken.

I haven't looked at the statutes lately, but I recall a specific exception for horse trailers. I'll try to look it up again tonight.
-
Ag use doesn't apply to horse trailers, I went through this registering mine in Sumner county. You will have to pay tax on it. I'd do it, makes life much easier if you ever move or sell the trailer out of state.

I carry a snubnose revolver because.....

I carry a 642 because I like it, shoot it well, and am comfortable with it. I don't remember the last time I carried anything else. -
If the census wants to talk to me, they know where I am. Right after buying this house I got surveys and info requests from a bunch of government groups, I think they were local. It all got handled appropriately.

Any Gallatin car mechanics on here that can help out a brother?

What vehicle and engine? My old Jeep with a 4.0 would idle at 6-7 psi and bump up when driving. Normal for that engine. -
I tried that on mine, it made absolutely no difference. I want to be able to sort my music by artist, album, or song and view them all. I used to be able to see all my songs, hit play, shuffle, and have hours of various artists and albums without having to touch anything. Don't see how to do that with Apple Music.

I have a MacBook and an iPhone, work supplies me with an iPad. I'm a big apple fan because I'm not a tech guy and don't care to be. I want something I can turn on, use, and turn off without having to mess with it. That said, I hate apple music so much if I could find an android app that was like the old iTunes used to be I would probably switch. That one forced change (came on my iPhone 6) has done more damage to my interest in apple than anything else.

A friend of mine that's a pilot has been griping lately that the FAA is moving away from printed charts now. She bought an iPad with some app that has the flight maps in it.

I've removed more broken fasteners than I care to try and remember in my line of work. That will come out fine with a screw extractor, no need to start drilling things. Grease fittings are soft metal and low torque, so the spiral extractors will bite and spin it right out. For most situations like this I prefer the short extractors, I think Lowes carries them under the Irwin brand, who makes them for Snap On. I don't know if they stock one small enough for that fitting, but even a regular length extractor should work.

I used to go down to the ramp on Old Hickory by the dam in Hendersonville on my lunch break. I'd sit in the truck and watch folks trying to launch or load. It was usually pretty funny.

I would be far more surprised if this had happened -only- in Wyoming. Greely, CO where the other incident took place is only about an hour to hour and a half drive from Cheyenne. Cheyenne is the home of FE Warren Air Force base, so there's a huge military presence here. It would be a 'logical' place for these folks to venture to from Greely.

Nope. At this point I just use the 'reply' box the forum provides, if what I typed doesn't go through for some reason then it just wasn't meant to be.
