  1. About 10 years ago a friend of mine bought AR10T brand new. The gun had serious failure to eject. Like not ONE ejection. He was using "90"s LC mil ball ammo. Some PMC actually left the action. I went over EVERTHING from gas port, gas tube, Locking lug clocking, bolt, recoil spring, everything effecting ejection. Eventualy I got it to eject FM military ammo that happens to be the hottest x51 i'v ever had. He sent it back to the factory and it came back exactly like it was sent with no issues found! He sold that POS. What a turd. If you want a real battle rifle, get a FAL. they will eat anything you stuff in the mag. hot, cold...... whatever.
  2. Well, I did find out it has a leaf spring for its main spring but cant find and internal pictures. Heres a target model. yeah a target model without a wide spur hammer & trigger. IDK...... Good Luck to them and the snake fanatics with the extra $$$. https://www.shootingillustrated.com/articles/2019/9/7/new-for-2019-colt-king-cobra-target/
  3. The original revolver lock works requires meticulous hand fitting. I'm not sure if they changed the internals but it would be tuff to find quality hi volume assembly personnel for the original design. Labor hours per gun in CT did the revolvers in. S&W's single hammer leaf spring was way, way simpler and easier to flow the assembly line than the multi function V leaf in the Colts.
  4. The trany is a 4R70W and was used in Mustangs also. There was a durability upgrade put in the trany in the last month or 2 of the 97 model year. Luckily, mine was made in may of 1997 so it was barely inside the up grade window. That's one reason a May/June manufactured 97 or 98 model are the ones to look for. Some of the drive shafts go out of balance so I bought a Dynotech all aluminum drive shaft put in mine. They come with new spicer yokes & U joints. The only bad thing on these particular tranies is the porting has a rather slow and mushy TC lock up. Every one interested in a snappier shift can have a good trans shop perform what is commonly called the "J Mod". Its drilling out some valve body ports. Or there is a re program chip that will do nearly what the J Mod does. I'v got to find a trans guy I can trust to do the mod. Once done, 2nd TC lock up puts rubber into the black top. The mod can be made mild to wild.
  5. OK, its in dire need of paint but for the 67K on the clock and 5 grand I paid for it out of Ocala FL (completely rust free) I wasn't going to be too upset over that. What the pictures don't really show is how low the front of the cars profile is and steep rake of the windshield. In this shot, I had just completed a coil spring swap in on all 4 A arms and figured out what Monroe Air shocks would work on the rear for a slightly higher rear end. When I'm done, I it will look like this guy's 98 LSC. A 98 base model interior. 2 memory driver seat power seats, These cars ran 38K new and now can be had for a fraction of that mostly because of issues that any shade tree dude can bang out like leaking air ride bags, The cars would squat once speed goes over 60 for better handling but to me, it was far more simple to do a coil spring kit for a couple hundred bucks and never have electrical ride sensing issues or leaks with the on board pump & bags. And off course some folks go ape sheet over these 4.6 engines. These Lincoln engines became the coveted Cobra engines with slight tweaking of components. Its an all aluminum 281 ci block that rivals the size of a 454 big block. 32 valve intech V8 that howls like a banshi with my air intake mod at its 6K rpm red line. These cars are real sleepers and still enough yard parts to pretty much get a rough one back into decent shape. It didn't take me long to buy a new radar detector........... Just a sample of play time in this older one.
  6. A couple years ago I had the retired "wild Hair" itch for the ride into the sunset years. After a lot of thought & research, I chose the Gen 2 Lincoln Mark VIII. Only about 30,000 Gen 2's made. Its a car that will need some amateur tinkering for sure but well worth it. 300hp under the hood is very easy to bump up from its 280 base model / 290 LSC model. I'v put 7k miles on my 97 base so far and love the car. I have the only one around! Factory 8 JBL surround sound speakers with factory 120 Watt amp is first rate with a aftermarket dbl din head unit. 3.02 gearing = 93mph @ 2500 revs and 23 mpg high way to boot! On this link, the top ten "How Too" entries are mine under MARK VIII. Next move is a true 2.5" SS dual exhaust install this winter. https://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/forum/ams/ Obviously its nothing like the rag top Beetle, but Iv found everything I want in a personal car with the Mark. For what its worth, Iv owned a 2000 VW Golf, 2001 Jetta, 2003 Beetle, 2005 Passat. All of them Diesels. Take away, Real diesels have timing chains. I wouldn't own another VW these days. Good Luck finding one that satisfies that new car itch!
  7. Ha, ha..... decades ago I saw this coming. You would have states that respect the 2nd A far more that others that legislated it in to a shadow of its original meaning. The hinge pin to the future is the rush to red flag laws. They have found this to be acceptable but in fact its the platform for the physiological wing of the medical industry (CDC included) to analyze and catalog a new term for those citizens who find it enjoyable to simply target shoot and have any desire to own a firearm. They have found their golden goose in the "shooters"......period. It will become a medical condition that carries a subliminal destructive psychosis tied to a gene that must be treated and in the end purged from the human gene bank. Clearly, little boys that love their squirt guns are afflicted with this obsolete gene. This is the new "civilized" society being created before your eyes. You cant stop them legislatively..... they have been and will be bought. In time, even the courts will be called on to "save" us all from the violent ones. Just as the mandates on vaccinations are saving us ....... they will now do far more with their finger on the electronic thought waves of humanity. Enter Revelation 9:18.
  8. Well, finally some one (NY's Gov) is doing something constructive! "Governor Cuomo talked about the provision on Rochester public radio station WXXI Wednesday, with Connections host Megan Mack. “Just to show you what it's accomplished, we now have 100,000 seriously mentally ill people on the mental health database that could have bought a gun in New York, Megan, who can't now buy a gun because we have a mental health database,” Cuomo said. " Should end up as the state with the largest group of unarmed Democrats.
  9. This guy goes way beyond average believability on the things he's done and claims to have been part of. But, when you search his back ground, no one is disputing his claims and there is in fact a paper trail of his child hood inventions in news papers of the day. If you have never heard of this guy, its worth a listen to. He's a great story teller. It seems when Putin bragged his military has a new un stoppable weapon, (that blew up recently) he may have been referring to Adair's rocket engine now in the Russian arsenal. Any way, check these vids out if u have some time to kill. Interesting stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5nJA8Hkvyc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gS5YxBCJjQ&feature=em-uploademail
  10. The general procedure to remove the follower and spring in a sealed bottom mag is relatively simple. Most of the time there are holes in the sides of the mag. Depress the follower down to about 1/3rd or so, once you have the follower positioned just over one of the holes, push a wire or fine screw driver threw the hole and out the other side. This is to retain the spring only . Leaving the follower free to be worked up off the now compressed spring and out threw the front of the feed lips. Good Luck with it.
  11. As the chart shows, I had a good run at this during that 7 year slot of 94-2001. https://www.depositaccounts.com/blog/historical-cd-rates.html Gez guys, this is easy stuff. Today, the easy money with CCs are those "spend 3K worth on this introductory offer in 90 days and get a 2-300 dollar bonus" . Yup. Iv done a few of those just to not be bored I guess. The surprising thing to me is a credit card company will keep your card in good standing for like 3 or 4 years before they send you a letter closing the account because of no activity. They are like hungry Wolves waiting in the wings to slam some dude that just made the "wants" mistake and couldn't pay his monthly balance. It amazes me how much money they are willing to throw away on these bonus offers only to find a new payment slave. Sadly, my son is one of them! He's probably up to a bout 20K in CC debt by now. We don't talk about it any more. I think he has Oniomania.
  12. I wonder why when I put in for a home improvement loan a number of years ago, they gave me their lowest interest rate than they even quoted me because of my credit history? Completely contrary to what you guys are saying. I'v been told what you all are saying before, and have found no evidence of it with the few times I ever when to a Banker with my hat in my hands. Getting Wealthy is a stretch LOL..... Its not time consuming at all really, I put more time into researching a new gun by far. Once you pocket a couple extra hundred bucks for just doing what you normally do with just a slightly different routine, piece of cake. Oh well..... thought someone might appreciate a heads up on making a few extra bucks when the markets right. Then again, maybe not!
  13. Seems every one thinks these gun manufacturers know how to build quality products because they have QC staff? The huge problem being over looked is like taking a machinist and then telling him, hey, your now a gunsmith or QC guy. Then there is the guy with a BA in Business Admin and hes put on the production floor as a forman. This crap happens all the time and it all leads to bad guns and CS. One of the worst repairs on a gun came out of Berretta MD. Absolute retards working there back in the 90's. 3 times I sent a customer's gun back to get a new barrel because of a factory gouge in the chamber wall so deep the fired casings were locking up in the little M21. You could actually see it visibly like a crater in there. After replacing everything on the gun including the grip panels the first 2 times around, The 3rd time they just sent a new gun.... WTF! Iv seen it in other manufacturers too many times. They hire folks that have little to no gunsmithing knowledge of how a firearm works in its full perspective. In 83 when I worked at Auto Ordnance producing the cheapest 1911A1 of its day, Management was purely administrative with ZERO mechanical understanding. So when I warned them the new casted barrels they wanted me to put into the production line were going to have a large failure rate, Management ( Fred Nichols) told me to just test the guns out with 5 rounds rather than a full mag of 7 because they were sitting on a pile of pre paid orders. I quit not long after that. You need God given true Gunsmithing talent in the QC room and management that puts those few folks in high regard making the calls on production. Unfortunately, that business model gets corrupted way too often in the gun industry.
  14. On another forum I visit the idea of Credit Card rates came up and I wrote up a nice way of getting back at the rip off rates the banks charge on those CC's. I thought I would share the process with you guys since it worked so well for me back when a 12 month CD yield was over 4 percent. It's an easy game to play the banks! When I got a new CC offer of 18 months 0 % APR in the mail, I would apply and as soon as I got that card, I would put EVERY purchase on that card no matter what it was for the next 5 months or until its credit limit was reached (Back then it was around 3K). The monies that would normally have gone to pay for all those bills such as food, gas, & house bills would be put aside during those first 5 months of the new cards 18 month zero APR. At the end of those 5 months, you go and take out a 4-5 percent, 12 month CD with that saved up cash. During that 12 month period, the new CC is side lined and you pay for all your stuff as you normally would have. Once the 12 month 4-5 % CD finishes up, you with draw it and then pay off the total balance on the new 18 month 0 APR, sidelined card (I called it the plastic Mule). All done within that 18 month Interest free period, just pay the minimums. This leaves you with the 4-5 percent CD yield left over. I had made over a thousand dollars that way when CD's were high yield. Once they dipped to 4 percent, I quit doing it. I ended up with a lot of cards. Problem you run into is after you get all the different 18 month APR new card accounts from various banks, they wont issue you another "new" 0 APR card if you all ready have an existing account despite the fact that I don't use any of them. I have a S*** load of CC accounts that never get used. The banks add up all that floating credit and figure your credit rating from it. I NEVER pay banks interest on ANY THING Nada Zero, Zip..... and they have me at just over 800 credit rating. I cant wait for CD's to get up there again just so I can do em again, Im just going to have to close out 3 or 4 accounts so I'm eligible for "New" 0 APR's again. Today I only use 3 cards out of my stack. A Sams card that gives 5% back on all gasoline purchases (pays for the 50 bucks membership and more over the year). City DBL cash back 2% back on every thing bought. and a Synchrony CC that is also 2% back on everything bought. No annual fees.... just money back. Always pay CC monthly bill balances and turn the tables on them when CD yield rates get up there.
  15. Good Luck with your move. Nashville is way too crowded (traffic) for me, but it is a thriving business hub from what I found out. As far as your DDD, once you get settled, try a inversion table. I picked one up for about 100 bucks on Amazon and it has been a help to my back when I push it too much. Also if you like the alternative aspect of healing, get the Book " The MMS Handbook" by Antje Oswald M.D. Folks have had great results with their joint inflammation as per the book. Iv tried it for an other issue and I'm happy with the results I received.
  16. ^^^ A lot of Liberal laws are sweeping the land in those Blue states. I read about a law in Colorado that its illegal to use or alter the rain fall coming off your roof. If you get caught using your rainfall for some other purpose other than letting it "run off" your subject to fines. Their scared the Colorado river is going to run dry if you use your rain. Sucks to be down stream, now doesn't it!
  17. King masquerades as some kind of conservative. NYC's population of 13 million who of over 80 percent are registered Dems have flipped so many up state counties that NY conservatism is toast. Kirsten Gillibrand started out as one of those "conservatives" until she figured out where the NY main stream votes were coming from and Bang! just like that, a Liberal is born! City mentality is quite different from country folks in general. The high ways leading out of the city is so trashed, its a blessing when the first snow covers all the window tossed trash. That's what happens when one is born into place that employs night crews that ride garbage street sweepers. Brain washed with Gov dependencies. Votes that can not be unbought until the libs Real, Realy, screw up big time. But don't ever think its a trend, as soon as a Juliani get things fixed, they go back into Dem mode. Dumber than a box of rocks.
  18. As far as a registry is "supposed to be" illegal for the gov to do...... Then why did I have to send all my completed 4473's to a Gov office in Texas back in 96 when I closed my Gun shop business. I would have destroyed them but that was illegal to do unless the transactions were something like 15 years old. If all cops were good cops (Constitution abiding), yeah, let them have what ever. Sadly that is not the case. In times of Marshal Law, we are to be ordered to do what the Gov deems appropriate regardless of our known rights. Then you have recourse in court of course latter on..... LOL! See how that worked out for Koresh & Weaver. My money tells me who to trust.......
  19. Well, maybe a story is in order. One of the few times I open carried was back in about 83. I was on my way to the range to plink with a Ruger MKI and had it on my hip when I stopped at a convenience store to grab some refreshment. As I walked up to the counter to pay for it, the woman ahead of me saw the pistol and got visibly nervous and about ran out of the place with her young daughter by the hand. This was up State NY and the permits were issued with the idea of preferred concealed carry but not mandatory. As I walked out of the store, the woman was leaving the parking lot and I saw her New Jersey license plate. Well that figures. I'll never forget the fear that bubbled up in that woman as she saw that 22 pistol I had on that day. I'm not an advocate of open carry by any stretch of the imagination but it sure does send a message loud and clear to the grabbers that are in fact moving here. The impact of an occasional open carry dude here or there on random days is their business. There are subtle ways of sending a message to the grabbers other than a vote. I think this might be one weather you chose to participate in that or not, Libs are in fact moving here and you all better come to grips with that fact that theres not a dam thing you can do about it individually. A 2nd A Day on the books will in fact have an impact on those city migrants looking for cheaper living after they run from their own failed policies. 64 million folks...... yup and they want to move here and make it safe like Chicago. The grand dads of some of the natives here were bold in keeping an active role in who moved next door. That's a fact. Trump got in as a fluke. Down the road, the best we can do is stand on states rights against the Fed blanket restrictions. I hope my time here is finished before you all lose your gun rights as I did as an X up state new Yorker. Sad you don't see it coming for your kids/grandkids. It is what it is.
  20. The 2nd amendment was ratified on the 15th of December 1791. I want to see if any of you folks would like to suggest your reps compile a formal bill to be put forward designating every Dec 15th a day to honor that Right. On that day EVERY ONE with a Hand gun permit should open carry their favorite full size/compact or what ever for that day while out and about. This show of a united pro gun front is something that we maybe should have so at least that one day the population of Tennessee can have that visual impact that we are in fact a united front against the gun grabbers and a stark reminder to the retard shooters that being an active shooter in TN is not a wise choice of self preservation. So what do you guys think? Is the time right for something like this?
  21. Lets not demoralize monkeys. I have gone to some trouble to try and effect a safer life style for all monkeys in the name of Science. If you see one of these on a stop sign, I was there promoting these poor underestimated critters.....
  22. Back in the 90's when I used to have a full service shop, I had a guy bring in a 375 70 of about "70's" manufacture. He wanted a cheap scope put on and sighted. Despite my suggestion to step it up in the optics, he wanted the Bushnell 3x9 sport view. Yup, you read that right! The gun was given to the guy and he wanted to try it out on a deer as cheaply as possible. So I mounted it up on Weaver rings with a dab of rubber cement in the saddles to fend off scope shift and hit the 100y range with a box of Win ammo off the shelf. The 70 clocked in with a couple of the best groups I ever fired out of a belted magnum. Factory ammo in a bone stock factory gun and its cutting clover leafs like nothing! Threw a freakin Sport View no less.... I all ways felt the 375 H&H was the king of dangerous game guns. And I'v worked on all kinds of bolt guns. Mostly trigger tunes & glass bedding before the whole pillar thing came to being and the M70's are my favorite design of all time. With a crisp 3.25 lb trigger pull on that straight up design...... it just doesent get any better than that. John Moses Browning lamented to his workers over and over, "the simplest design, is the best design". And KahrMan has all of that in that 375.
  23. Doing competent gun work comes down to a person's skill level with tools. There are various levels of mechanically inclined individuals. There are a number of basics, a person should be unflinchingly comfortable with. Reading a Dial caliper and being able to file a true flat onto a surface. Are you prepared to buy a varied number of tools. The sad thing is a lot of folks "think" their basic maintenance auto mechanic skills will carry them threw. And for some it may, but others just end up with a zip lok baggy being dropped of at a Gunsmith shop. So a day or week end may only tell you if you maybe, kinda, sorta have the skill talent to shape, fit and form gun steel. Best thing is buy your self some clunkers and see if you can install non fitting sights, make new grip panels "better" that the originals, learn trigger sear function and the geometery in the various designs. Having the ability to understand the function of each interrelated gun part is a key mechanical ability that not many folks have. Where you fall into those abilities will show up in your clunker reworks!
  24. I see it like this with what little has been discussed of his history. There will be a person victimized by this kid sooner or latter that "should" put him in jail. In a good jail, drugs are obviously not allowed AND the Officers need to be on point with their area searches and body frisking. Hopfully his conviction will get him enough time to cold turkey what ever crap he's on and only at the point of release you cal hope "he" desides to kick his habit and return to the world. untill then, someone has to take his hit.
  25. Iv done a bunch of custom mods to the SKS design. Its like the K98 mauser of mid weight semi autos. Just yesterday I finished up the machining specs so you can use factory ASC AR-type magazines in the SKS. Its for use with the Marcus G9 mag adapter. With this new machining spec, it will get the G9 adapters back on the market. That makes factory mags completely interchangeable with AR-47's.
