  1. "So we become a society of armed camps, a perpetual war zone with a balance of power between the good guys and the bad. Will this bring about a more peaceful era, like the Mutually Assured Destruction standoff? " quote KNS Could it be this is what is actually happening since BGs really do not want to go where the GGs are armed? Look at gun free zones. One thing for certain, the BGs will always have their guns. oldogy
  2. I'll go along with what you said. oldogy
  3. Yeah, me too. I've been driving 54 years and have had a LEO at my car window one time only. About the time he had started to give me a faulty equipment ticket for having a headlight out it started pouring rain. He said ":censored: unlock your passenger side door" and he came around the car and sat inside writing me a faulty equipment ticket. The rain lasted past the time required to write the ticket but we had a friendly conversation for probably 15-20 minutes. Of course I was not carrying at the time but the question never surfaced. Guess I did not appear as a threat to him as I was clean cut, dressed in shirt and tie and had a late model well kept automobile. And this was quite a few years ago, different times. oldogy
  4. Great pictures. Congratulations on the weight loss. oldogy
  5. Snopes is known to have been wrong. Shucks, if the gvnmnt or media says it I believe it:tinfoil: oldogy
  6. All American Gun Shop in Athens had WC and HP Thursday, 04/02. oldogy
  7. Keep in mind that youth are never as assertive as we mature folks tend to be. Seems to me a faulty equipment ticket would be a no brainer. Just take it and go on down the road while displaying a great attitude all this time. oldogy
  8. Anything to speed it up helps. Yeah, living in the boonies has one drawback and that is slow internet. But I guess that is off set by being able to shoot on your own property. oldogy
  9. See signature line. True yesterday and still today. oldogy
  10. If the vehicle in discussion has been on their lot over 90 days chances are they are paying around 10% floor planning on it a month. It does not take long for the true overall cost to the dealer to be so high he may take a loss on the vehicle to get rid of it. Yes, loss does happen but the dealer is reluctant to admit it. There are usually dealer hold backs that may or may not off set his loss. Options make a large difference in cost and profit potential to dealer. Make certain you are dealing with an experienced sales person, preferably a sales manager. Make certain he knows you are a strong buyer and are going to buy a vehicle. IMO, your offer was something they have got to look at seriously unless the model is a very hot item right now. A call to him may not hurt. Good luck. oldogy
  11. ID tags sewn into clothing are known to set these type alarms off. I don't think these type alarms are metal detectors. I've carried through TS, Lowes, HD, Ingles and others and never had an alarm go off. oldogy
  12. As a second comment on this thread I'll throw this in for what it is worth as I see a few comments about credit cards. Keep at least one credit card. A credit card is a wonderful tool but you must have the discipline to use it. It must be paid in full monthly to be a good tool. Otherwise it is a tool used by others against you. Another important point is your credit score, maintain it wisely. oldogy
  13. Congratulations. Not to brag but I have never known any other way. Was reared that way and it has served me well. I had a little trouble convincing the wife but she came around eventually. oldogy
  14. Yeah, if it involves a Jeep ride the wife and I are in. Not interested in the easy stuff at all. Problem is many places are off limits to CC. oldogy
  15. Just an idea. So what do you think? x========x===========x===========x============x I think America is in the most perilous time in her history. We are at a point where unless the tide is turned quickly she will change into a group of socialist states, possibly not even united, and sink to developing nation status. She will not, can not defend her boarders. Her currency is becoming worth less and less. Her energy policy is a tire gauge and light bulbs. Her leaders will not allow her to develop her abundant energy resources. She has three leaders who are extreme liberals and believe that wealth needs to be distributed among the leaches, the parasites and other non producers. America's leaders somehow believe they can borrow her into prosperity and saddling her with great debt. Current leadership of America is quite different from what made America a great nation. Her current leader has zero executive experience, never even run a hot dog or shoe shine stand. Her industries are in peril, largely do to over regulation and an oppressive tax environment. Government develops and promotes programs that are bound to fail, force business and banks to participate and then go after the businesses for doing what they have to do to survive in the forced business practice. So, I think it is quite appropriate to fly the stars and stripes upside down. Oh, the parallels to Atlas Shrugged. Ayn Rand was right, as Rush is today. God bless America, she needs it. oldogy
  16. Why I Still Do My Own. Many years ago I had a part time job while in college. One of my duties was to schedule and have the maint. done on the small fleet of vehicles on our job site. My employer was a mechanical engineering group based on a very dirty site. The project engineer had a contract with a local independent 'service station' that was to use only premium oils and filters and we had 1,000 mile maint interval scheduled on all vehicles. One day I dropped a vehicle off for maint and was headed to the bank, another of my duties, and realized I had forgotten something in the first vehicle. Upon returning to the service station I found the vehicle being serviced with the cheapest oil the station had, not the premium stuff. So that was the end of our contract with that station and why I try my darndest to service my own stuff.
  17. I like the forum the way it is. oldogy
  18. My main anger would be toward the park patrol guy since he was the one who obviously did not know the law or knowing it wanted to play real cop. My call would be to his boss to suggest a little education for him. My next call would then be to the local chief of police and inform him that I, as a law abiding, tax paying citizen did not appreciate the situation handling by his men. Hey, I have a permit, I am legal, why the harassment!!!!!!!!! I would never partially open carry as you described for the exact reasons you encountered. Either holstered in plain view or conceled oldogy
  19. Hobama minions at their finest. oldogy
  20. Yep, very sad. IMHO it will get much worse. Some folks have no respect for laws, too willing to play the victim. oldogy
  21. Partial box, what size box or better yet, how many cartridges? What brand, load, type, age? What kind of 9mm are you looking for, ball, HP, FMJ, etc? oldogy
  22. Welcome to TGO. Yep, lack of HS internet service is the only disadvantage I can think of to living in the "boonies". I had to go to sat and it is still not like DSL. Yeah, it is nice to be able to shoot on your own property. oldogy
  23. There is Fugate Firearms on highway 11, Calhoun. They're just north of the river across from Bowater. They have a nice indoor range and offer the HCP class. oldogy
