So who among us will be ordering the NRA TN vehicle license plates? www.nraila.org/media/PDFS/tn_NRA_plate.pdf. (an underscore separates NRA from tn and plate) Although I belong to the NRA I believe I will pass on the plates. Shucks, some folks I know are hesitant to display a NRA decal on a vehicle. So what do you think, yea or nay? oldogy

We've had rain for a week. Too wet to work the garden and too wet to go to the club to shoot. When it drys out a bit Mrs oldogy says we should work the garden. I say we should go to the club and shoot. :DShe will go and shoot along side me when we do go shoot:cool:. Yeah, she shoots well. She will work the garden with me when we do that. So help, comments with this very important family decision: What would you recommend? Go shoot: Work garden:

Ah, yes, I was but 7 YO but I do remember the celebrations, how happy folks were. A war for free men that the US had to win. oldogy

I came home today around 11:00 hours and found a truck backing out of my driveway. A government identification sticker was clearly displayed on the windshield. The driver, had found my gate locked, could not see the house way back in the woods so he was leaving. As I pulled up I quickly went from CC to open carry and asked if I could help him. He displayed his credentials and asked if he could get the coordinates at my front door. I opened the driveway gate and he followed me the 1/4 mile to the house, got out of his truck and seeing that I was open carrying asked if it was alright to get the coordinates. After doing so he made a quick glance at my other buildings, a detached two car garage and a pole barn, guess he was looking for additional living quarters but said nothing. After this he handed me a privacy form, thanked me and said good day. I don't really like the idea of the government poking around on my property but I guess he was only doing what he was getting paid to do. oldogy

My property is along a one lane tar and gravel (T&G) county numbered, named and maintained secondary road This T&G road intersects with a primary two lane blacktop paved county numbered road that runs north and south. The intersection requires that a driver make a right turn of about 120 degrees to enter onto this primary paved road if going north. The problem is that in making this right turn it is necessary to get into the far lane, the southbound lane prior to returning to the northbound lane. The southbound lane is clearly marked with an intersecting road sign where southbound traffic is warned of the intersection. A vehicle coming off the T&G road is visible to a southbound driver only after the southbound driver has crested a hill. If southbound traffic is traveling at the posted speed limit of 45 MPH they have an adequate time to slow down so as to avoid a collision. I have approached the intersection southbound at the speed limit and above and find this to be fact. The problem is that some drivers pay no attention to the posted speed limit. Only law enforcement is the sheriff and since there is not much crime out this way we don't see them often. Last year there was a serious accident about ¼ mile from this intersection where the speed of the vehicle involved was estimated to be 80 MPH, the driver clearly not having the vehicle under control, too fast for conditions. So my concerns: My family and guest safety, safety of the folks living in the other four houses on the T&G road, and the public safety. I know the intersection is a poor design. I do not see the county doing anything to improve it. This is sparsely populated farm country with many more cows than people. There are loaded stock trailers using this intersection and they will be across the line for much longer than a single vehicle. The locals drive commensurate with conditions. So how would this sort out if I were actually across the line into the southbound lane and were hit by a southbound vehicle? I, across the line, would be in the wrong yet if the southbound driver were within ten MPH over the speed limit he should have no problem avoiding an accident. Traffic experts comments welcome. How would you sort this out? Many thanks, oldogy

Obama wants Senate to ratify CIFTA - national gun registration

I see the largest group of scofflaws ever created if anything like this is ratified and enforced. oldogy -

Well, if you brought her up right :tough:don't worry about the anti 2nd amendment types. She'll tell it like it is, like it is supposed to be. Remind her that we deal with facts. Liberals dream in fantasy. Remind her to interupt, tell them to if she does not like where the conversation is going. We wish her luck. oldogy -
Well, if you want to come over to east TN there are places along the Tellico River, River Road and North River Road that would probably fit your requirements. They are in the Cherokee National forest and are fee sites but pretty darn primitive. No shower and pit toilets. oldogy

I picked up a Marlin 60 and want to install a Tasco 3-9 X 40 scope. Will I need medium or high mounts for this application? There has to be a lot of '60s out there with this configuration. thanks, oldogy

FWIW, GOA saw fit to send it out as an alert today. Considering the liberal bunch of crap running the country and how fast the one is making things happen I think it is appropriate that it be posted. I think the appropriate action is for us to act by following the links. Thanks for posting, oldfella. JMHO. oldogy

Had a slight experience while leaving the mall...
oldogy replied to BrandonTN's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The way you carry yourself, the way you appear to know what you are doing, where you are going, that you have a purpose and will not be deterred. Display confidence, decisiveness. Carry yourself errect. Avoid uncertain movements. Walk briskly. Just a few. Maybe we need to start a new thread on this. oldogy -
Had a slight experience while leaving the mall...
oldogy replied to BrandonTN's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
After an event like you describe I would ask myself just "how vulnerable did I appear?" Did I appear to be a sheep or did I display high SA? Yeah, if I were as concern as you said you were I would have contacted mall security. oldogy -
Yeah, I've had some of that Cabelas special price 22 LR on back order since first of April. I've ordered some of the other 22 LR stuff and it is on its way to me. More $$ than I had ever imagined but better than sitting around looking at the guns. I picked up a couple hundred rounds 22LR and some 30-06 this morning while in my travels. oldogy

I have monitored the DKos for some time but somehow missed that thread. No, I am not one of them but I do try to discover how the other side thinks, if they do:screwy:. That thread is a far cry from most of the hate spewed by the posters there. Even the language is acceptable to me for the most part. I find some of the signature lines are unbelievable. :tinfoil:That place was a zoo prior the the election. oldogy

They Charged me - The problem isn't fixed...
oldogy replied to PirateQui's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Describe the problem on paper and return the gun to the shop along with all paperwork. Make certain the manager understands that this is a call back. Explain that you expect an explanation of what is found and corrected. Make certain the manager knows the time they had the gun was much longer than they had told you it would be. Treat them the way you would want to be treated. oldogy -
