  1. I recently went through settling three estates. I am not going to offer much except that you educate yourself and your mom. I do hope your mom is receptive to doing what is best for her. For her sake don't let her be scammed by someone trying to sell her something she does not need. Believe me, they are out there and she will hear from them. Consider her health and age. I do not know that a trust is of much value with such a limited net worth. I would not think taxes would be an issue under current tax laws. 250K seems like quite a bit to have tied up in her house. Consider alternatives unless she is absolutely hung up on staying where she is. It is probably a good idea to do nothing in this area for a while. Would you ever want the house? Life estates work well in some cases. Does not sound like she needs more cash flow. I commend you for wanting to help and wish you both the best. oldogy
  2. We always wanted the big fan on top when I crewed the H34 At that time no one had looped a chopper yet. . H34 was a pretty big machine when I was involved. Not to hyjack the thread oldogy
  3. Fun, ain't it, hanging out the door of a chopper. I probably have a thousand hours doing just that:) Thank you uncle Sam:D oldogy
  4. How long before you got a "man with a gun" report? oldogy

    Blue & Wood

Now that is just one pretty group of arms. oldogy
  6. Exactly! WTF were they thinking when they wrote the law originally?? Like someone said, passage of the new law should be a no brainer but please contact your representatives. oldogy
  7. I just, this afternoon, received a phone call from Representative Jimmy Matlock in reply to an email I had sent RE this bill. He assured me he would vote for it. Some of you boys and girls from other areas may want to push it. oldogy
  8. Great that someone is not afraid to speak their piece. oldogy
  9. Welcome to the forum. For the biggest part, a bunch of good folks here. Someone may move this to the legal forum to get an opinion from a legal eagle or two that hang out here. Legal or not for you to own a gun, I commend your wife for making your gun inaccessible to you in your difficult times. Kinda like my father when he gave up his car keys. Said he no longer felt competent to drive and could no longer justify putting himself and others at risk. Section 13 of the application for a TN handgun carry permit does address the mental problems. Do not know how that may or may not apply to your situation. Someone will have knowledge. IMO, the biggest thing would be, do you know when you are in control and can you control yourself.. Good luck. oldogy
  10. Yeah, this is the important one for me. I spend a lot of time in the trails and in the woods. It is darn confusing trying to sort out where I can and can not carry legally. oldogy
  11. I've lived in both while in the military. Give me GA any time. oldogy
  12. Best one I've heard in quite a while. Seems like the best jokes are the truth. oldogy
  13. How true today. oldogy
  14. IMHO, it would do nothing but draw attention to those crazy gun people. oldogy

    Camping Areas

I like it when that happens. oldogy
  16. The government does not have to worry about the newspapers... Most of them are already in the government's pockets.........and so is most electronic media. oldogy
  17. I have a Reporter brand that has worked well for severeal years. Pretty darn easy on transmitter batteries. Only problem I have is the deer and coyotes set it off once in a while. I think it was about $50., purchased on line. oldogy
  18. I recently used Brownells oxpho-blue on a couple old non collectible guns and could not be more pleased with the results. I took both guns down to clean metal with #400 paper and 0000 steel wool. I touched up some holster wear on an old revolver and the match was good. I would not do it on a high dollar or collectible type gun. oldogy
  19. So what about the guy who brought the knife to a gunfight? What were the charges against him? Not that it matters but IMHO the judge is dumber than dumb. Or is the law the part that is dumb. oldogy

  21. IMO, this is one big reason the US is in a mess. Legislators must prostitute themselves to get what they want. Single item legislation would put the blame squarely where it is due, let us know how our elected officials really feel when they vote. oldogy
  22. I had to tell a physician about gun damage one time during a physical when he inquired about my bruised shoulder. Routinely ask about guns? He!! no! oldogy
  23. I used to play with TBirds that had the FE engines but I got rid of most of my document stuff. Go to: www.ford-trucks.com , go to the engine section and ask on the FE series forum. oldogy
  24. Yep, a scattergun with #4 or larger makes a fine all around tool. oldogy
  25. Yeah, never enough. oldogy
