If I called the police every time I have been awakened by a strange noise at night they would probably just quite coming. I'd be known as that old fool who lives out off xxxxxx road in the woods and hears noises every night. It is more likely the dear wife who hears the noises now and she awakens me.........Both our firearms located with in reach. But seriously, it is the big black dog that sleeps in our bedroom that is our early warning system whether it be to let us know there is a deer at the bird feeder, a coyote or fox running through the clearing or a coon on the deck. In the event of a BG breaking into the house he would be greeted by 90 lbs of German Shepherd tooth and paw. She would very possibly be sacrificed as the first responder to any intrusion. In the rare event the dog seems overly upset and is pacing I have gotten up and "cleared" the house accompanied by the black dog, knowing full well that if someone were in the house or trying to get into the house she would alert me to the point of interest. IMO, I live in an area that is isolated and I feel quite secure. oldogy We've had German Shepherd for the past 40 plus years and I have always felt comfortable knowing they would alert me to any intrusion.

Mutt, grab a hold to your man card real tight like. If there is a war going on behind the door, you know, shots being fired, bullets flying, just don't go there. Just don't open the door unless you are the one being paid to do so. This is the internet, you should know. oldogy

"All countries participate in the conventional arms trade and share responsibility for the 'collateral damage' it produces – widespread death, injuries and human rights abuses," said Rebecca Peters, director of the International Action Network on Small Arms in an Agence France-Presse interview. "Now finally governments have agreed to negotiate legally binding global controls on this deadly trade." These folks need to study recent world history as it relates to gun control in various countries..........Let me rephrase that to say all Americans should study world history as it relates to gun control and how gun control has led to population control. oldogy

Toyota Suspends Sales of 8 Models After Accelerator Pedals Keep Sticking

The same folks who can not figure out how to kick a car into neutral, or how to press on the brakes HARD AND STEADY are the same ones who should never touch a gun or any mechanical device for that matter. The brakes will overpower the engine on any modern automobile if the brakes are used correctly. In the event the brakes are "played with or toyed with" in a half a$$ed effort to stop the vehicle they will heat and may not stop the vehicle when you finally decide to get serious. Also consider that if the engine is running wide open there will be very little manifold vacuum and you will have one or two shots only at power assist to the brakes. oldogy -
Yeah, you're on to it. Also, consider the other side, that all the defense has to do is get a muslim on the jury and that pretty much locks the jury up so far as guilt and the death penalty goes. JMHO, oldogy Edit: Would any trial not be a criminal trial, vs civil?

Very well said. There are places for O C but not many. oldogy

I have a top break hammerless I. J. with the three inch barrel, plated, and in 32 short. My dad carried it in the 30s and 40s. I even have a box of Remington 32 short Colt kleanbore ammo for it. I've never fired it and probably will not even though it locks up tight and seems to be in decent shape except for the finish. oldogy Just looked at the ammo box to verify spelling. The price on the box for 50 80gr lead bullets was $2.65.

I have been paying WildBlue $70./mo for satellite internet that is supposed to give me 1,000 kbs download speeds and 120 kbs upload speeds. I've had it for a little over three years. I consider this as a bare minimum for internet speeds but still not good. On a good day early in the am I usually get the speeds I am paying for. Late in the day, into the evening and till around midnight speed falls off drastically. It is not uncommon for me to get 250 kbs download. WB refers me to the contract that says the speeds provided are "up to". IMO, they are committing fraud, plane and simple. But living way back in the woods, I have no other choice. To answer your question: No, sat internet is not competitive. Avoid it at all costs if you have any other choice. Read the contract very carefully. Run a speed test such as www.testmy.net at various times of the day to see what you are actually getting. So far as Direct TV I have zero complaints with them or their service. I fully realize weather will knock out the signal but that is very seldom for me. oldogy

Sometime around 22:00, 10 pm last night we lost the Direct TV and the WildBlue about the same time due to ice and snow. I decided I would just throw another couple logs on the fire, watch fire and let you guys solve all our problems here. When I went to bed we had 4" of snow and the sleet was starting. Got up this am, kicked the fire back to life, drank a pot of coffee in the company of my lovely wife and decided it was time to get the ice from both dishes. I hooked the hose up to the outdoor faucet and sprayed water onto both dishes till the ice came off. Walla, both systems came alive with signals. oldogy

No snow shovel but I have a big ol' grain scoop, a 4wd Deere with a FEL and back blade. Then there is the Jeep Rubicon with front and rear lockers. And then there are the woodpiles stacked high. Got to go make the milk, bread and eggs run. Just about like FL when the big winds were a commin'. Almost forgot the two gensets with about 50 gal of fuel and the chainsaw with a gallon of fuel mix. oldogy

You got the title all wrong, not disarmed. You will, after time be able to go through the motions of being armed but shooting blanks. Yeah, I had mine done over 40 years ago.....not fun. oldogy

You need a mean hungry pu$sycat. I don't mean a lazy, fat on friskies cat that lays around the house but a hungry hunter. Lead is a good deterent if correctly placed. Heavy duty sticky traps work but are expensive and they sometimes disappear with the limb rats. Good luck. A boss of mine had the interior of his boat destroyed by limb rats many years ago. Nothing worse. oldogy

I was too old, long out of the Army, working hard, getting educated and supporting a family when all that hippy bit came on the scene. Nothing pi$$ed me off more than the way Fonda and that ilk treated the GIs. oldogy

[quote name=kwe45919;445082 A heavy percent of the population' date=' especially elders, are and always will be scared of guns. We'll never change thier minds so it's best to try to prevent the harassment of permit holders by doing our little part and keeping our firearms hidden from the public...... I can't tell if this is a quote from the police or your embellishment............Either source, it is total BS. Anyone whom I would consider elderly remembers that guns won WW11. Many households had a gun behind a door. Most of them remember histories of gun control by other nations and the results the people received from gun controls. No, it 'ain't' the elderly, it is the young left wing stupid or in very few cases the old and stupid. oldogy Edit: I do not normally open carry. I would never carry into a convenience store, just asking for what the OP mentioned or some variation problem. In the rare event that I do OC I try to appear presentable and not like a bum......
