  1. That is neat as all get out but I have trouble finding enough ammo to fire one shot per trigger pull.
  2. Everyone lived, no one hurt. Ya did good.
  3. One thing not mentioned is lift height of the FEL.  I have a Deere 4300 HST 4WDA and a Deere 420 loader. The loader just does not lift as far as I could use. Great little unit, otherwise. A root bar on the loader is quite handy.
  4. Welcome, from a short distance north, way out in the woods.  No town or neighbors in sight. I do get into Athens once in a great while.
  5. Yeah, I am geezer age and remember when this particular veteran came home from Europe.  A damn proud time for America. There was 12 years difference in his and my age.  He treated me like a son and married into the family.  I'll try to get some pictures up tomorrow. This particular gun is a fairly common item, but I've never seen any such paperwork. Just pure luck, his widow discovered the paperwork and asked if I wanted it.
  6. I have a Mauser handgun with holster from WW11,  (That is World War Two) in near fine condition. With the gun, I have the signed certificate, dated Sept 21, 1945, stating that it was captured enemy equipment.  I also have the authorization to ship to the US. Both certificates have the United States Forces European Theater Headquarters Official seal. Comments?

    Caving

A lot to be said of spending time in the quiet of the earth. Years ago when in high school and college, I spent may a day and a few nights underground.
  9. I keep one like that loaded all the time in my garage. Mine is constructed with a deep garbage can and adjacent to the cover on my generator.. No water needed as the walls and angle are too steep for the mice to jump or climb. Mice don't survive very long with out water or a place where they can maintain a comfortable body temperature. If I forget to check it for a day, I usually find the dead mouse. Two in the same day is the best I've done.
  10. Any link to any kind of a recall or notice on this?  I've had my LC9 just a couple months and a couple hundred rounds with no problem with either mag so far. One mag made in US and other made in Italy.
  11. The wife's renewal came  in about 30 days. The agency probably knew she can not stand incompetence in government or otherwise ...........................Of course, she got a "carry this form" letter prior to receiving the permit and another "carry this form" letter a few weeks after receiving the permit.
  12. The charge does not warrant capitol punishment if found guilty, thus six jurors. I always thought there was a diversity requirement also. There is probably enough trouble getting six women to agree on anything, can't imagine 12.
  13. I have not watched a hollywierd movie in many years but I do enjoy watching the gun handling skills of Deputy Fife. :stunned:
  14. Welcome, from another SE TN er.
  15. Low camp!  Putting a tat on a beautiful woman is like putting a coon tail on a Lexus. :yuck:  Never had one, never wanted one. Now, where can this old dog hide.
  16. Yeah, it is something only we old timers know about. The last I found was at a machine shop. Go to a auto body supply shop and get some 1500 or finer grit paper. oldogy.
  17. We always called it fat pine or lighter knots. An old pine stump or a pine tree that has died while the sap is up. I have a big old pine standing on my place that lightning hit about six or seven years ago in the spring. The tree shows no signs of rotting so some day I'll take it down, expecting to find fat pine. If you were closer we could have a tree cutting party and both have enough fat pine for hundreds of years. I do need to take it down just out of curiosity. We do have a forester member on here who'll probably weigh in if he sees the thread. oldogy
  18. I had a three legged doe on my place for several years. And yes she produced and raised a fawn.
  19. The day about 1957 when I, a little more than a snot nosed kid, first paying job, walked into a hardware store in Cumberland, MD and bought a new nine shot Hi Standard 22 revolver. No background check, no questions. Priceless. Yeah, I still have it................and you know, that darn gun has not shot anyone.
  20. This family has two fairly modern vehicles as daily drivers and two older collectable type vehicles that I play with and drive on occasion. We no longer have an RV. But, since GS covers all family vehicles for a set price, and has a decent reputation, I keep the road service. To be honest, I've never had to use their services and I do like it that way. oldogy
  21. My dogs have always ridden inside like the family member they are. We have more important issues in this country than who ate dog or allowed the dog to ride on top of the car.. So what is the temperature in the cargo bay of an airliner where your dog rides if he is shipped? oldogy
  22. IMO, you've received good advice above but I'll throw out this. Look at the wiring and around the engine for rust and or corrosion, Stay with a known brand engine. Is the trailer rusted? How are the tires and wheel bearings? An aluminum boat has the advantage of simplicity but they have their own potential problems, loose rivets, corrosion and they're noisy. Has the boat been used in salt water? If so, run. I don't want to sound too negative, but I can see a lot of searching to find what you're looking for in your price range if it exists.
  23. I have a Police Positive with four inch barrel. The SN puts mine at 1942. Beautiful fit and finish, still. oldogy
  24. "The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president." Not my words but they do express my true feelings. America as we know it is done if this clown is re elected. oldogy
