If stick shift, is your clutch depressed? If automatic, is it in park or neutral? oldogy

The rulling class at all levels need to be acountable. We need to ask the tough questions and demand straight answers and when these clowns avoid straight answers the question need to be asked again. I like questions that have a yes or no answer. Doing what is right is sometimes not popular. oldogy

I would suspect there are quite a few folks in the Knoxville area that would love to take that job making $20.xx an hour and getting about 40 hours a week doing government work. oldogy

Very old joke. The names change to reflect the most appropriate person. This one is right on target at this time. oldogy

Wow, an interstate stop, out of state car, for dark tinted windows. Must have been a very slow day on I super slab. Maybe the vehicle looked like it was loaded with drugs , smokes or drinks.. oldogy

Believe me, Ebow1, that would not work out for you either. Basic or Boot can be tough but OCS is tougher. They try you, test you a bit harder. oldogy

I've been in and out of this thread, probably read most of it. IMO the OP should try a stint in the military. Military training has been known to take some inmature kids and turned them into mature adults..........That is if they made it through basic training. oldogy

IMO, very hard to justify a diesel genset for residential standby use. Duribility and longivity just not a factor here. Run time is not going to be that much. You do not have to go to diesel to get quality. Gasoline and diesel both have long term storage issues, go bad. That said, I have a 7kw run, 8500 kw surge 18 HP Honda gasoline powered unit......noisey as all get out. If I were buying a unit for home standby and had no plans to move in the near future I do believe I would go with LP, installed with a switch panel........Especially if a wife and children are in the picture. What ever you get, set up an exercise program for the unit and stick to it. oldogy

I had a close call three years ago. I was putting the last of the steel roof on a lean-to of an out building here at my place. It was getting close to noon when I stopped sweating and felt strange, light headed. Somehow I got down the ladder and into the house. The kitchen sink was the closest water where I started running water over my face, neck, and arms. I yelled for the wife when I came into the house and she met me at the sink and watched me slowly fall to the floor. I hit my head as I fell, a bit of blood, nothing serious. The wife kept me wet and was slapping me, talking to me trying to get me to come around. I knew she was there and what was happening but I could not act. I came around after a couple minutes and seemed just fine, mind was clear. We took my BP and systolic was in the 80s and my temperature was right at 100. BP and temp soon returned to normal. She said I was on the floor about five minutes. Later that evening I picked up and put away my tools. I really had no lasting effects and was back out working cautiously the next day. I hate to think what the results may have been had I not made it safely down the ladder. So, today I am working outside but frequently come into the house to cool off. oldogy

Should you be upset? Yeah, probably upset, more disapointed. You did not say but it sounds like at least a week had past. A lot can happen in the fortunes of a small business in a week. Did the guy treat you wrong? He did say "the deal stands." . The guy told you he had taken a lot of trades. This is his way of telling you it was a cash flow problem. Not much you can do about that. He is the one with the bills that need paid to keep the doors open. He possibly had no other option than to back out on the deal. One of those situations where you just have to suck it up and get on with life. Consider it a learning experience. Life 'ain't always fair' . oldogy

Easier than a battery jumper system would be a disconnect switch on the battery. Cheaper, too. JMO. Now on to the subject of battery drain. A year or so ago I had conversation with a Ford electrical tec. and me having some serious electronic experience and training, the conversation got fairly deep into new vehicle electronics. He said one of the problems with the newer vehicles was that they have a main computer and several secondary or slave computers. The problem comes in trying to diagnose which one of the secondary computers is not shutting down and draining the battery. We discussed the exact symptoms you are experiencing. He indicated this was not all that uncommon problem. FWIW. oldogy

So far as the BFG ATs, I have them on my Rubicon LJ. Good all around traction, not noisey. I like them much better than the MTRs. Now to the retreads. A couple of guys in the FL Jeepers club were running them several years back. If I remember the biggest problem they had were balance problems. Remember, many of the alligators along the road are retreads that have thrown. oldogy

Dealing with citizens legally carrying a concealed weapon
oldogy replied to daddyo's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Very interesting read. Not to hyjack the thread, but. Just last week I had an incident that would reflect the author' actions. I had breakfast with a fellow TGO member and was on my way to some errands when I came upon a traffic stop by the THP. It was on a US highway and they had traffic backed up half a dozen cars each way with several vehicles pulled to the side. I would say at least half a dozen THP cars and I believe there were at least a couple rookies there. So I inched my turn up to the stop, my wallet in hand, had both hands on the wheel. My appearance, clean, dressed nicely, full grey beard. I believe I had removed my hat. Truck is late model and clean with US flag, NRA, US Army decals on the rear glass. The officer asked for my DL and registration. When removing my DL my HCP became visible, not intentional but not guarded. The officer pronounced my name, a bit difficult for many folks, and I told him "correct, good job." He asked me if I had my "piece" with me in the truck to which I replied, "I do." His reply, "Very good." He handed me back my DL, wished me a good day and reminded me to drive safely. IMO, the way the stop should have gone.....but then again, I had no law infractions. oldogy -

Yeah, it is nice when someone cares and looks out for us. oldogy -
Interesting thread. I have a couple similar dents in the hood of my Rubicon that I would like to get removed. I've thought of the dentless proceedure, just have not gone ahead with it. Let us know how this all comes down. oldogy

I like that. I wonder how much the indicriminating posting of the 'gunbuster' signs actually cost these businesses that are now displaying it. oldogy
