  2. If you read any of the bill .... Notice section 513 regarding Selective Service registration.
  3. https://beringoptics.com/catalog/?goods=216 I have no experience with this unit. But a lot of folks give it good reviews in other NV forums.

  5. In December of last year, I made a deposit on one of these scopes. Sightmark Wraith 4K I had given the vendor an incorrect phone number, so I had no idea they had tried to contact me. (Guess they never considered email) I discovered Tuesday that the scopes had finally come in 4 months ago and I got the order completed. I should have it Friday and maybe get to play with it over the weekend. I'll probably put it on a 22LR simply because it's cheaper to shoot. Kind of excited about it. Hopefully it'll be better than the ATN 4K I tried a while back. (Returned that POS)
  6. I bought a 7.62x39 upper from them last year, because I couldn't find one anywhere else. Nor parts to build one. It took me a bit to figure out they had put a 556 firing pin in it. I had to replace that to eliminate FTF's. Using Federal Fusion ammo, it'll put 5 shots into one ragged hole at 36 yards. Don't get too excited, that hole is kinda large. Different story with combloc steel case. I don't remember ever having 2 holes touching while using whatever I have thrown in that ammo can. Tul, Wolf, Brown Bear. A 7.62x39 soup of whatever. Installed an adjustable gas block which turned out to be a waste of $. The gas port was small enough that I have to run the AGB wide open for it to cycle. I expected it to be way to large. Overall, I'm satisfied with it. Installed an Eotech HS and use it for deer hunting. Got one on the first trip out with it at about 35 yards. Hope you get yours straightened out Rob.
  7. I've put together several rifles in a SPR type configuration using a Ballistic Advantage barrel in .223 Wylde. 16" & 18" models with 1:8 twist. I've yet to have one that wasn't a very nice shooter. All of them have been more accurate than I am using Hornady Varmint Express in 55 grain. The Hornady Spire Point training ammo will shoot virtually identical, for less $, at 100-200 yards. After that, it'll drop a bit faster than the HVE but still retain a predictable trajectory. ETA: For a bit of a different look, might I suggest a hand guard from these guys? Very nice rails. And they'll get your bipod further forward. I have a few of them.

  9. I use dedicated uppers for 22LR. CMMG barrels/bolts with Black Dog Machine metal lipped mags. Nary a failure of any kind after many rounds. But I keep them clean also. 22LR is kinda nasty ya know. Side note .... If you've never built a rimfire upper, don't make the mistake of going into it thinking it'll cost less than centerfire. It won't. ETA ... For the reader at large ... Also note Handsome Rob's post above. IMHO, ammo choice is the key to .223/5.56. A lot of folks might only be familiar with 55gr FMJ. That's like maybe the WORST choice available for hunting and/or target shooting. It's good for "centerfire plinking", aka dirt clod shooting, I suppose. Not even then if you care about hitting what you're shooting at. Isn't the .gov spec for fmj like 4MOA? MANY choices available with MUCH better results. As always, YMMV
  10. Small frame .... 22LR, 7.62x39, .223/5.56, 6.5 Grendel All can use the same lower(s). You have hunting ranges covered out to 350 - 400 yards. You have target ranges covered easily out to 600+. Common ammo. (Grendel not so much)
  11. Considering squirrel hunting, it's worth mentioning here ... Once ambient temps get up to +/- 50*, using thermal to look up into trees can be quite tricky especially if it's a clear sky w/ bright sunlight. My scope will have a better defined image than the scanner will. (The scope was 2x the price) But even it sometimes has problems. The scanner sometimes simply isn't worth a crap for looking up. In my experience, thermal just works better in colder temps. Period Side notes .... Thermal suffers in high humidity. (Water in the air) It won't work at all if rain is heavy enough. And it won't work at all thru glass. ETA ... One of my favorite thermal stories to tell ... The dog treed once and we could find no sign of a squirrel anywhere. Then I walked around to the other side of the tree and saw that it had a split in it that was maybe 3" wide and 20' tall running up to the first fork in that tree. I looked into the split with thermal and could see the tree rat about half way down the trunk. I'd shoot just below him and he'd move up a little each time. Eventually I ran him out the top and we got him once he exited. Never woulda found him w/o thermal.
  12. AC72 has valuable info. I'm convinced he knows what he's talking about. In regards to your question ... I have a Pulsar scope. (QD mounts are important as well.) Also, the wife and I each have a hand held scanner. IMHO, the value of the capability alone is 2nd only to your weaponry. ETA ... i use the scope more than anything else to squirrel hunt with on a 22LR. Once the leaves fall, those little bushy tailed bastards aint gonna hide from thermal. In fact, I've been on some outings where thermal found more than the dog we had. The scanner has been a welcomed tool in finding deer after the shot is taken. They work the same in daytime as night.
  13. Wow ... thanks for that. When you get toward the end .... a lot of things start to seem a bit too "familiar".

  16. Indeed a rarity nowadays! Guy had a Kenmore unit sitting there that was over $4K. Stated that he wouldn't recommend someone even buying that one w/o a protection plan. Similar to automobiles, there is far too much technology involved just to keep your damn food cold. A whole lot to go wrong!
  17. The wife and I bought a new fridge yesterday. From all the info we could gather over the last month, we decided the best route was to assume they're all junk and it's gonna break. We were pretty well told as much by a guy in a local Sears store who seemed pretty knowledgeable. So she ignored brand names, picked out the one that she liked the best, and we paid $189.00 xtra for a 5 year protection plan.
  18. My browser blocked 27 trackers on that foxnews site. Just sayin .....
  19. I called TnArmsCo this morning inquiring specifically about 80% lowers. I was told they have none in stock and none in production. They are waiting on new molds and will start filling orders upon arrival. I then asked about an ETA on said molds .... none.
  20. I have one of the new Wraith models on backorder. I tried an ATN 4K a while back. What a steaming pile of crap that thing was. Stay far far away from anything ATN. If the budget allows, thermal is the way to go.

  22. Done. Kustoff maybe needs to get the boot.
  23. Added number 8 this morning. A beautifully symmetric 8 point at 25 yards. Not a monster, but pretty dang nice. Nothing but slick heads going forward.
  24. Nothing worth posting pics of here. But including the wife, son, and myself, we've taken 7. 3 scrub bucks and 4 doe so far. Freezer is full, donations to friends, other family, and Hunters for the Hungry. CWD is only a couple counties south from us and is headed north. We're doing our part to try and make a "fire break".
