  1. Looks great!
  2. Thanks, I'll check them out. It sounds like they have a nice layaway program.
  3. Is that the one on Brainerd ?
  4. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/11/21/senate-nears-possible-vote-on-curbing-filibusters/ Senate Democrats bowled over Republicans on Thursday to win approval for a highly controversial rule change which would limit the GOP's ability to block nominees, in a move Republicans called a "raw power grab." "It's a sad day in the history of the Senate," Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said after the vote. Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., moving quickly following days of speculation, used the so-called "nuclear option" to pass the change. Typically, major changes like this take 67 votes, but he did it with just a simple majority. With Republicans fuming, the change weakens the power of the minority to stall nominations for top positions. Instead of needing 60 votes to break a filibuster, the change means Democrats will now need just 51. Republicans charged that Democrats were merely trying to shift focus away from ObamaCare with the move. "Today we face a real crisis in the confirmation process, a crisis concocted by the Democrat majority to distract attention from the ObamaCare disaster and, in the process, consolidate more power than any majority has had in more than 200 years," Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said in a statement immediately following the historic vote. "It sounds to me like Harry Reid is trying to change the subject and if I were taking all the incoming fire that he's taking over Obamacare, I'd try to change the subject too," House Speaker John Boehner said. Reid won approval for the change on a 52-48 vote. Regardless of Reid's underlying motivations, the vote Thursday marks a major change in Senate rules. The filibuster, for better or worse, has been a defining feature of the Senate for decades. While this makes the Senate one of the slowest-moving legislative bodies in the world, it also prevents legislation and appointments from moving too fast. The vote on Thursday vastly reduces the power of the minority to stall nominations and makes it easier for federal judges to get lifetime appointments. Even Democrats have supported the right to filibuster in the past. The late Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., said in 2010 that changing the rules would "destroy the uniqueness of this institution." "In the hands of a tyrannical majority and leadership, that kind of emasculation of the cloture rule would mean that minority rights would cease to exist in the U.S. Senate," he said. The change applies to nominations for federal court and other top positions, though not for the Supreme Court. Reid got the ball rolling on the rule change late Thursday morning. Frustrated by Republicans' stonewalling of numerous Obama nominees, he cast the shift as vital to the Senate's survival. "The Senate is a living thing, and to survive it must change," he said on the Senate floor. But the maneuver itself threatens to make the bitter atmosphere on the Hill even more toxic, imperiling the prospect for future agreement on everything from immigration to the budget. McConnell charged that Reid's attempt proves the Democrats are willing to "do and say just about anything" to get their way. The change is the most far-reaching to filibuster rules since 1975, when a two-thirds requirement for cutting off filibusters against legislation and all nominations was eased to the 60-vote level. It delivers a major blow the GOP's ability to thwart Obama in making appointments, though Republicans have promised the same fate would await Democrats whenever the GOP recaptures the White House and Senate control. The clash occurred as Democrats have grown increasingly irritated by the GOP's derailing of Obama's selections for top jobs, including three picks for pivotal judgeships in recent days. Republicans say they are weary of repeated Democratic threats to rewrite the rules. They say Democrats similarly obstructed some of President George W. Bush's nominees and argue that the D.C. Circuit's caseload is too low, which Democrats reject. Nomination fights are not new in the Senate, but as the hostility has grown the two sides have been edging toward a collision for much of this year. The latest battle is over Obama's choices to fill three vacancies at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Since Halloween, GOP filibusters have derailed the president's nominations of District Judge Robert L. Wilkins, law professor Cornelia Pillard and attorney Patricia Millett for those jobs, which are lifelong. The D.C. Circuit Court is viewed as second only to the Supreme Court in power because it rules on disputes over White House and federal agency actions. The circuit's eight judges are divided evenly between Democratic and Republican presidential appointees.
  5. Oooh, temptation. :) Well, between the M1 Garand that was delivered yesterday and the TGO billet AR build so close to Christmas, I've practically got one foot in the doghouse already. MUST RESIST, lol
  6. Thinking about the upcoming weather and deer season, I realize that I have a "need" in my collection... a bolt gun that I don't mind dragging out into the weather. A Winchester 70 Extreme Weather in 30-06 or 338WM is now at the top of my "need" list. Hmmm...
  7. I use DSG a lot. I bought Mgagpul kits and PMags from them back in January at un-inflated prices. I like dealing with them.
  8. I'll be out there hanganing in a tree with my trusty 1903 '06 (sporterized). It "sees" the woods through a 3-9x40 Nikon Monarch. I plan to start with that. As the season progresses, I may hunt some with my Winchester 94 30WCF and/or Ruger SBH 44mag (scoped). Forecast for my area on Saturday is High52, Low26 and 60% rain showers. If it's raining, I'll probably take the SBH because I can keep it dry up under my rain gear. I saw a nice buck this afternoon from my stand. Too risky of a shot with my ML though. Hooray for Opening Day!
  9. FedEx delivered mine today! HRA Service Grade (muzzle 1+, Throat 2). I asked for USGI wood if possible, and it appears original (or at least used). :) I'll post up some pics later when I can
  10. Thanks! I may have to "hide out" on Monday... I got the email today that my M1 will be delivered then. When I show up begging for the doghouse or spare room, I promise not to mention anything about your purchases. "AR build... what AR build?" :)
  11. I've seen that Rossi stainless at Poseys... nice gun. I've got my eye on a couple used guns there.
  12. Posey Gun & Pawn in Cleveland, but I think it's only 60 days (I could be wrong... Might be 90). I'm pretty sure they would allow longer if a situation came up. Good people to do business with and a good selection. Sportsman's Warehouse in Chatt also does layaway.
  13. Thanks. That confirms my thoughts about the Stoner. I'll hold out for a quality bbl, most likely a Shilen.
  14. I wish Midway offered an 18" Shilen. They have an AR-Stoner, but I've heard mixed reviews. I don't have any personal experience with the Stoner, but I know I always get what I pay for. I really have an itch for an 18" 6.5G. What's the verdict on AR-Stoner? For long-range accuracy, that is.
  15. I played that game with the CMP. Back in September, I thought, I'll order an M1 Garand now because its a long wait. I thought, they won't charge my card for $645 until it ships, and it's a 120-180 wait. That way, I'll get through Christmas without explaining the "new" rifle on my doorstep to the wife. I figured I'd get charged in January - March. Nope! They processed it pretty quick, lol. My card got charged last week, and my rifle will be here before Thanksgiving! I'm happy to get it, but it caught me off guard. I cant take any more chances like that because I have a big dog, and his house ain't big enough for the both of us, lol.
  16. I sure wish I could start ordering parts for this. It's killin' me! I'm just going to have to wait until after Christmas to move forward with mine. My first purchase will likely be a PRI Gen3 rifle-length handguard in black (unless I change my mind again :) )
  17. When you buy your kid an RC helicopter (big one) for Christmas, DO NOT try it inside (doesn't matter how cold it is outside). That's an "outside toy", says the wife. It left marks. Oops
  18. I see CCI 22short at Sportsman's warehouse in Chatt all the time if you're ever that way. Not sure the price though.
  19. What's up with all these satire websites anymore? I keep falling for it, lol.
  20. Did the printer jam or the gun? Not sure I understand why ammunition was involved in the printing process.
  21. I have 2 cylinders for mine. It's fun to shoot. It's not a Ruger, but it's not as expensive either. Mine shoots low (really low), but it groups very well. Once I "adjust" the front sight, it should hit dead on. I've only fired the 22lr cyl, so I can't comment on the 22mag yet
  22. I wish we could send him to the front line. On second thought... that's a bad idea because I'm sure he would run away crying like a coward. It's ironic that he's too dumb to even realize those veterans gave him the freedom to say that. Try moving to N. Korea and criticize their flag, Chis.
  23. I definitely need to lighten the house a bit, too. I have too much stuff and not enough time to use it all. I don't ever ask for anything in particular, and I tell my family not to buy for me. They don't listen. I did hear there might be a billet upper and lower under the tree this year, though ;)
  24. I agree about the m14... spits out too many boolits too fast. The M1A on the other hand is a perfectly acceptable way to spend some gun money, I think. A suppressed AR is a better tool for zombie slayin', but $3G's to spend.... hmmm.
  25. I've never seen it done with the M14. I bet it is a handful, though. That would be an expensive trigger pull on full auto. I've never owned an M1A, but it's definitely on my list if they're still legal whenever I get around to it.
