  1. Well, it's obviously tornado season again, and I am wanting another weather radio. I have also been wanting to get licensed for HAM. I'd like to combine the two and get a handheld HAM that has good weather alert functions. Does this exist in the <$100 - $200 price range? Ive asked about radios before but not with the alert features. What do ya recommend?
  2. I agree. It's hard to run and hide with every cell that passes through the county. I'd much rather have too much warning than not enough warning, but I do wish they would differentiate if its just a radar signature 20 miles away. "Enhanced Tornado Watch" or something. To me "Tornado Warning" means hang on hear it comes.
  3. You're probably getting the cell that passed over here hour ago. Tornado warning one that one. Power is out now
  4. Bracing for impact in Bradley Co. It has stayed west of us all day as it has been moving NE, but it's slowly sliding this way. Tornado watch extended to 1am. 3 years ago today part of my roof was laying in the back yard. Yippy :( Stay alert and safe everyone
  5. Got the garage cleaned out and the cars inside, patio furniture secured, WX radio is armed, fresh batteries in the flashlights and plenty of food/water. I just hope we get enough rain to flush the pollen
  6. Yeah, I usually always have my Condor Golok machete in the truck. I use it on my farm all the time. Funny thing is, I think of it so much as a tool that I never really considered the 4" limitation. I haven't carried my KA-Bar and other long knives because of the law, but I've had a machete with me for years, lol.
  7. Seems someone has already used this crime involving a crazy with a knife to attack guns... "But I'm just glad it wasn't a shooter, because if it had been a shooter, there would have been fatalities," Cook, whose children attended the school, told FoxNews.com. Praying for the kids and families for full recovery.
  8. Very nice! I definitely prefer the Gen 2's
  9. Nothing like a lever gun. I love that saddle ring, too. Here's the last one I got... 1946 30WCF
  10. Congrats, Shaun! I got called out of town for work, so I've missed a week of the action. I hope to get out Saturday!
  11. Yup. This season, especially the second half, was devoted heavily to character development. I suspect next season will pick up the pace since the background info has been exhausted. Lots of time lost in this last episode by flashing back to previous episodes. Next season, they will likely be brought to the point of slaughter, then Rick will bite one of cannibal's head off :) glad to see him toughen up again. I wonder if he will watch Tyreese, Carol and Judith waltz into Terminus from his boxcar. Imagine his emotions if he sees his baby girl is alive but now facing this new danger. Time to bust out and dig up the Python. I hope next season puts the group on a mission to get the scientist to Washington. I'd be nice to learn more about the state of the rest of the country (world) and the circumstances surrounding the outbreak.
  12. Bho doesn't just leak on it though, he dumps too
  13. I slept in today. I've been seeing lots of turkeys on my trail cam, but the sound of the rain this morning convinced me to sleep-on. Oh well, the season is young :)
  14. I decided since the safe had overflowed, i should slow down on purchases. I'm spending my funds on my truck at the moment. I upgraded my Dodge Ram to a newer model, so now my gun money will be diverted to... Leveling kit, 35" tires, Bilstein shocks, a new bed toolbox, window tint, and a couple of offload lights mounted behind the grill (or front bumper light bar... haven't decided yet). Hey, gotta have my ride offroadable!! Oh yes, in the spirit of upgrading my truck, it definitely needs a new "truck gun" ;)
  15. Then don't do it. I will say though that the last deer I gutted was with a useless Frost knife. I kept it in my backpack as a backup. Good thing because I didn't have my good knife on my belt that day (Yeah, Murphy plays games with me :) ). It did a fine job, sharpened up nice and still rides as a backup in my backpack. The buck it cleaned didn't complain at all. I have no regrets for spending that $10. YMMV I will also say that I am not endorsing their quality. I know they are cheap, and you get what you pay for. I merely stated that the passage of this law makes me want to stop there (I pass their retail store everyday) and buy a big (over 4") cheap knife to keep in my truck (probably the toolbox).
  16. Frost acquired the H&R brand, but so far they're still made in Germany. http://www.henandrooster.com/aboutus.aspx "In 1983, the firm was liquidated, and the Hen & Rooster trademark and the Bertram name were acquired by James Frost of Frost Cutlery, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Howard Rabin of Star Sales, of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Hugo Schiesen of Robert Klaas, out of Solingen, Germany. After a short period of time, and prior to the retirement of Howard Rabin, Mr. James Frost bought the sole rights to the mark and distribution of all Hen & Rooster knives in the United States. Mr. Frost holds firm to the long distinguished tradition begun by Mr. Bertram; ensuring the superior craftsmanship of each Hen & Rooster knife. These pocket knives continue to be manufactured by highly skilled craftsman in Solingen, Germany. Through it's reputation of excellence, Hen & Rooster® continues carries the title of “World’s Finest Since 1845”."
  17. Mostly "made in china" cheapies, I know. I keep my eyes open for sales on some of the Hen & Roosters though. I already have plenty of quality knives, but sometimes I get in the mood for a 14" knife under 20 bucks, lol. Actually, one of my KA-Bars will probably end up riding in the truck more often than not.
  18. Awesome pup. Congrats!
  19. Gonna stop by Frost Cutlery in Ooltewah and pick up a new long blade to keep in the truck. I'm diggin' this bill. :)
  20.   I don't think Daryl feels like part of this group yet. He's just traveling with them and would likely support Rick at this point. However, if this gang helps him rescue Beth from being served as dinner at Terminus (or something similar) he may feel a new loyalty to them. A scenario like that might force him to make a tough choice between Joe or RIck. My guess is Daryl will spot the car that took Beth at Terminus, and that will become his new mission.
  21. 29k miles isn't really that big of a deal IMO. My 1500 Ram has 230,000+, and I expect to put many more on it. I don't think you'll ever regret getting your "dream truck".
  22. I know it. My wife just told me the story that's circulating about 72 being killed up there. I had to do some research to see if it was satire. Got my heart thumping for a minute. Getting tired of the satire stuff
  23. Who said anything about people turning their backs on their own country? The politicians that want to fundamentally change this great county have the monopoly on that.
  24. The variable is that the members of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Gaurd are all U.S. citizens. When asked to bomb their home town, how many F-16's and tanks would become part of a "rebel army"?
  25. Same here. I put a lot of rounds through my AR's for 3-gun, and i always use the cheapest Russian ammo i can find. It runs flawless for me also. I can't recall ever having a failure with any of it. I was impressed during my last range trip with the accuracy I was getting from Tula at 100yds with the irons. I load up "premium" rounds for my precision AR, but I have no complaints with the Russian steel for most of my shooting.
