  1. I had to "do my time" as a junior guy at my job when I first started. It's seniority driven, and schedules are bid for in seniority order. My wife and family had to adjust, but it eventually got better as my seniority improved. Just focus on the good points. I hope you get the schedule you want sooner rather than later. I really did find myself enjoying time off during the week though
  2. I usually had the range to myself on a Monday or Tuesday morning :)
  3. And if there are any random shots, it will most definitely be blamed on OCTX even if they didn't do it. It's a lose-lose.
  4. The weekend shift has its pros too. I used to work the weekend a lot at my old job because I felt like I could get more done around the house and with my hobbies during the week, etc.
  5. Seems the black panthers would enjoy a little open carry party. Everything's a racial event though
  6. No bowl required
  7. Maybe throw a little grilled chicken in there. Mmm, I'm getting hungry
  8. Welcome!! I greatly appreciate that sentence. Thank you for that. I was a Maryland hostage until a few years ago. You will love the freeer lifestyle of TN. I don't live in the area you are asking about, but you found the right place to get help.
  9. I think they'll use it. It's dry as a bone. I have a couple of salt pits that they keep dug up, but there's just no water.     It seems the darker (not transparent) barrels reduce the algea growth
  10. Sounds like it went: other -> pistol -> rifle -> back to pistol
  11. Yeah, so a ramen sandwich. I give you the ramen waffle, bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Looks good on the net anyway...
  12. I agree on all. I shoot a hand loaded Nosler Accubond out of my '06. Nosler recommends a min velocity of 1800fps to achieve reliable expansion. With my chronographed loads calculated at 9000' elevation and temp of 40* (typical for where I'll be hunting elk), the velocity should drop to 1805fps @ 525yds. I've only practiced to 400yds, so that's my limit. I think pushing a faster bullet combined with the practice at distance would be required for reliable 600yd elk. An '06 could certainly do it, but it's running out of steam for bullet expansion at that distance.
  13. You got to love it when a federal court starts making up their own constitution. I'd like for them to show me where "dangerous or unusual" or "commonly used" has anything to do with it. They could pick any number of gun models off the shelf and apply that "logic".
  14. Ramen noodle sandwich... interesting. Like this?
  15. My vote... Winchester 70 Extreme Weather SS. It's the newer FN winny with controlled round feed, etc. It will be my next rifle http://www.winchesterguns.com/products/catalog/detail.asp?family=001C&mid=535206
  16. I'm going out west for elk this fall with my 30-06. I've studied the ballistics (computed) because I was considering getting a 300WM. The 300WM is an excellent cartridge, but I didn't see a lot of difference than my '06 until the range gets further than about 400yds -500yds. It's the same bullet, but the 300 will retain a little more energy and velocity a little further out. I came to the conclusion that if I was going to step up from my 30-06, it should be a real step up. The 338WM is a real step up from the 30-06 IMO, and it has the added benefit of a very similar trajectory as the 30-06. That being said, I am taking my 30-06 elk hunting this year and will limit my shots to 400yds because that's how far I've practiced. The next time I go out for elk, I will treat myself to a 338WM
  17. Bulk packs of the chicken flavor are cheap and in stock at Sam's
  18. I love that patina look.
  19. I eat more Ramen now than I did as a kid. I don't eat them often now but every now and then. I like them, and they are soo easy to make. Super high in sodium though I'd say. I have millions of them, and the half life has to be a few hundred years lol
  20. This will be my first auto. Looking forward to it
  21. That looks sweet! I'm going to be sending my payment soon
  22. Just don't try to catch it if you drop it :panic: I haven't dropped the whole rig down my pants yet, but I did drop my bow from my tree stand once. That sucked. I usually put the gun and holster on at same time, but taking off I always remove the gun and secure it first.
  23. Very good advice Slappy. This is keep-ya-alive advice, and I couldn't agree more.
  24. I'd cover it or remove it. The tape is a great idea. Just make sure it's not shiny. Can you remove the stripe or turn the vest inside out?
  25. A big thank you to your brother Luke for his service to our Country! :usa: I have been out of town for an extended period now, and it's killing me that I can't get in the woods. I need to do some prep work on my stands, cams, etc. I can't wait for the season to start, but I'm behind the curve.
