  1. - a good 1911 (still not sure why I don't have one yet  ) - winchester 70 Extreme Weather SS .338wm - Beretta shotgun (A400) - Glock20 will be my next firearm purchase (not really a bucket list item but more of a tool that I need for the woods :) ).
  2. Nice!! I'm looking forward to the mail early next week
  3. Haha. Yeah, that arctic cyclone was breathing right down my neck. I was hunting near a bedding area, so i figured a deer would have to at least get up to pee or something. I didn't see one animal the whole time.
  4. I didn't see a thing. I underestimated how cold it was going to be, so I'm still thawing out I think. It was good to get back in the woods though
  5. Sitting out here swaying in the breeze now. Seems like all the leaves are coming down at once, lol
  6. how about A safe that only he "officially" knows the combo to? If anyone asks, she doesn't have a clue, but If she needs to defend against a home invasion, well....  Just a thought. I'm not qualified to offer any legal advice though.
  7. That sounds like a cool design. I'm looking forward to see how it turns out. I enjoy making/building stuff when I can, so I think that's awesome to be able to build your own.
  8. Thanks all. That's great info! I'm really looking forward to building this rifle and especially getting my first can. I'll do some research on the suggestions made and try to figure out which one might work best for me. I'm glad to hear that suppressed 300bo is going to work out with the shorter bbl. Weight is something that i definitely want to keep down, so weight and length are a big factor for me. I was originally thinking of going budget, but I've since decided that it'll be worth it to spend more and be happy with what I get.
  9. I am planning to build my first 300 blackout, first pistol and first suppressor. I know this has been discussed before but can't seem to dig it up using my ipad. I stuck this in the Class III forum because I want to make a wise choice concerning the can. I am thinking 8"-8.5" bbl with pistol gas and Sig brace (I may eventually SBR). Does this bbl length work well with subsonic 300BO and any suppressor recommendations for that setup? Any suggestions or pics of similar setup is appreciated! Any other considerations I should think about when selecting a can? I'll be using a trust.
  10. This is good info and helps me. I'm also about to get my first can, so I am trying to learn the process. I want to get a trust, but not sure about that process. I've heard that some dealers will do the work to setup the trust, or should I do that on my own before I go to purchase?
  11. Hire someone to build a fence with power tools... at midnight... with big lights... while you are on vacation ;)
  12. Small wood burner in the detached shop. Electric oil near my garage workbench. Kerosene heater on standby :)
  13. Sunday night... I say unreasonable.
  14. Well, I am finally back in town after more than 2 weeks gone, so I hit the woods today to check my cams and hunt the evening. I'm a stupid idiot because I chose to change the card on the camera before getting in the stand (just anxious to see how many pics on there). Well, as I'm changing the SD card, I hear something up the hill near my stand... Yep, fat doe standing there watching me! And where was my bow? You guessed it... up next to my stand AND the deer. Doh! She bolted of course and I came to the realization that these animals are just toying with me, lol.
  15. When you replace the bolts, I'd check the straps real good too the first time up. They may have messed with it in other ways. Be careful each time going up
  16. Lol. I hope it gets worked out for you soon. If not, it might be neighborly though to invite him over for cookouts on the weekends... return his cow one burger at a time  j/k
  17. +1 on calling local game warden and letting him know that someone is interfering with your legal hunting activities. It may prove beneficial if you catch them in the act next time.
  18. I don't think they intended to do harm as much as discourage him from hunting that day. They probably hoped that he would see the sticks, not hunt, and go home without shooting Bambi. Harassing hunters is illegal, and I think that's what's going on.
  19. I figured you'd be grinding beef all weekend :)
  20. Yep. Place a cheap (or better yet, broken) trail cam on it as a decoy with another one higher and well hidden to record the action. You could also dig a pit and cover it with small sticks and leaves to show your appreciation for their interest in your stand :) Theives suck
  21. Nice! I hope you get the cow problem solved. I haven't set foot in the woods for a couple of weeks (work :( ), but I hope to get out there this coming weekend
  22. "In a related case, a health care worker who may have handled a specimen from Duncan was reported to be on a cruise ship in the Caribbean." http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/10/17/texas-ebola-health-care-workers-travel-ban/17424465/ Oh boy
  23. A travel ban should have been enacted weeks ago, but If obama does that he may just let a serious crisis go to waste. Judging by the people he hung with before his current job, he's probably all for population control anyway. Just wait until this disease spreads to Mexico and walks into the USA daily :panic:
  24.   And a 2hr direct flight to Dallas and 30min direct flight to Atlanta where ebola patients have already been treated   I agree about the observation period. They say 3-21 days is the magic number if a person is going to show symptoms.
  25.   I'm in Dallas and within about 30min of the infected hospital. I wish I knew what areas, restaurants, stores, etc that the infected individuals visited while they were feeling ill. I wash my hands a lot and stay away from crowds as much as possible. I have also made an effort to not touch my face if at all possible. If more peeps start getting it out here, I may just wrap myself in SaranWrap, lol
