Official Thread of 2015-2016 deer season
Wingshooter replied to rugerla1's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I won't be out there tomorrow :(, but I will be one day soon. Hopefully it will be a good day for those of you heading out. It's a little wet here in East Tn, but I sometimes enjoy hunting in the rain (as long as there's no lightning of course). Good luck! -
Where and how much? Cheapest 12 gauge target loads.

That's the way I interpret the sign as well. Applies to guns being brought in for warranty, scope fitting, etc. and not HCP in a holster. -

I've shot the cheap Federal 7-1/2 load and some RIO for the past two years at 3gun from a Remington 1100 and Stoeger M3000. I've never had a problem with either. I get the Federal at Sportsmans Warehouse for $6.79/box. Maybe cheaper at Walmart, but I can't drag myself in there anymore, lol -
This will make Bloomberg have a stroke for sure!

You can buy an device that uses co2 cartridges that is made to fit in the flash hole. I have used that to unload a 50cal before. It will throw the bullet and powder out about 10 feet. If the cleaning cloth is forming a good enough seal, then it should clear it from the barrel as well. It works great This is it but not in stock. I got mine at sportsmans warehouse. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/278589/genuine-innovations-saf-t-unloader-muzzleloader-unloading-device

No problem. Glad to help. Some people don't like the 3 string split, but I really do. You can always pop it in the string and see if you like it first before serving it in tight. Good luck, I hope you get it setup to your liking and are taking aim at a monster soon :) BTW, the Switchback is a sweet bow!

My wife has a sig p238. Awesome gun. The slide is easy to manipulate, great sights (tritium), very accurate, fun to shoot, well-made SA pistol. The only question I had about it with her was the 1911ish complexity of it. I have to make sure she stays "current" on it. Just happen to have a pic.... She also has a glock 43. She likes them both a lot (and so do I :) ) Sig also makes the same gun in 9mm in the slightly larger P938

Thanks. I don't remember exactly, but it came in a pack of two (a smaller one and larger one). I'm pretty sure I used the bigger one

In this pic of my bow, you can see how the rotational axis of the peep mounts along the string. This makes it impossible for the peep hole to "close up" if the the string is twisted to one side or the other. Man, I'm starting to get fired up about bow season now! :) She has a few years on her now, but the Martin Firecat is still holding up. Inspired by The Nuge... "Spirit of The Wild, baby!" Lol

Here's a pic of my peep sight. The thing I like about it is that I always have a perfect circle to sight through no matter what. Even if the string is twisted to one side, the peep is 100% reliable and round. It doesn't matter if one of the split strings is right down the middle of it because it's too close for your eye to focus on it (especially if both eyes are open). It's the only peep I'll use My son just recently got a bow and it had a self-aligning peep that only splits the string into 2 strands. It's fine if the string is not twisted, but miserable if not unusable if it is. The problem is if the string twists to one side, the round hole becomes an oval (or worse), and you can't see through it. I'm going to replace his with the RAD Trio like mine. Here is his peep sight: There are people that don't like the Trio 3-way split though, so YMMV

I'll vote for him in a heartbeat over what the other side has to offer.

This is true, and it's very possible that a billionaire never really paid much attention to those details before and just went with the flow. Now that he has taken an interest in politics and social issues, maybe he has done some research and soul searching that has defined what he really believes.
-
I use the RAD Trio peep that splits the string 3 ways. There is sometimes (not always) one strand blocking, but it doesn't matter because I shoot both eyes open. I can tell it's in the way, but I still see the sight in the middle of the peep no problem

That was funny. I wish I had taken a screenshot.

I'm looking forward to the season for sure. Unfortunately, the temp is forecast into the 90s on Sat. I'll probably work to finish some summer projects and wait till it cools off a bit before I hit the stand. Been shooting my bow and tuning my gear though. EDIT: Looks like it will be upper 70s on saturday  The weather app on my phone was still set to Houston from a recent trip I had there, so that's where I saw 90, lol

After thinking about it more, I would go the wood glue route. I think you can force enough down in there. The benefit with wood glue is that you can easily wipe off the excess. With epoxy or CYA, you may blimish the exterior of the stock around the crack if you get any on it. Plus, that wood glue will still be plenty strong when it dries
-
Never used it on a gun stock, but I know a thin penetrating epoxy works well to penetrate, bond and seal wood on my boat. Edit: Might be able to inject some wood glue with a glue syringe and clamp it tight while it dries

Nice rifle. What kind of optic are you going to put on it?

Where can I get, and what are they called?

Walmart has it in the sewing isle -
  I'm not sure what just happened... MonkeyLizard's avitar was showing up anywhere y'all put a :) icon   I'm on my ipad and should have took a screenshot. I'm back to normal now after a browser refresh. Not sure what was going on there especially since he hasn't even posted in this thread  Weird I think I would have a difficult time shooting a 20" 308 pistol. You would have to shoot it supported like from a bench I would think.

Yeah, I got the feeling that he had something to hide in his trash can also. It was a good thing Travis put hat bloody rug in the can before the Army search team saw it and questioned their exposure.
