  1. Your gas tube and gas block will remain the same. The new free float handguard will go over top of it and will only attach to the rifle at one point (the barrel nut). To accomplish what you want, you will need to remove the old two-piece habdguard, remove gas block and tube, remove the end cap that held the old handguard, remove the old barrel nut, reinstall the barrel with a new barrel nut designed to hold the new free float rail, reinstall the gas block/tube without the end cap (space it properly), slide the new free fload rail over the gas block/tube and thread it onto the new barrel nut. I would review the brownell's series of videos on building an AR. They are very informative and helpful if you don't do this often. It's always easier for me to watch it being done. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=11004/guntechdetail/how_to_build_an_ar-15_video
  2. this brownells video might be helpful too http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=11614/learn/
  3. This might help. I've never used the tool, but it would be a little easier (certainly not necessary though). http://youtu.be/8xrcCIokNz8 http://youtu.be/3Izpps4r7zM
  4. What do you mean by "standard hand guard"? If you have a low profile gas block, then I assume it's a free floating tube that covers the gas block?? What length gas system do you have... Mid length? A pic might help. If you have a free float rail with a low profile gas block now, you could simply buy a free float quad rail and use the same gas block. Or... you could change the gas block too. Lots of possibilities.... I suggest a current pic and maybe a pic of what you want to achieve
  5. That reminds me of when I used to play Halo... "Shotguns and Swords". I could kick butt with a sword lol
  6. There is a loan amortization template in MS Excel that I find to be pretty accurate. You can find it under Templates. We use this to figure additional payments on investment houses. Plug in some numbers there, and watch the years fall off your mortgage. I'd loose all other debt first as someone suggested, then pay down the mortgage. Even if you want another house down the road, having more equity in your home can put that money and more right back in your pocket.
  7. Thanks. I'm going to load up a few rounds to try out this week. My little girl had fun at the NWTF today. She's taken a special interest in Turkey hunting lol. I love it
  8. I would replace it. It might not hurt to check the spare... there might be a new replacement riding in the trunk.
  9. Lots of good suggestions. Thanks, I'll look into the ones mentioned. The layaway is not mandatory, but it seems like a good idea to be able to pay on it over the time it is in jail.
  10. I am getting serious about getting a 30cal can to use primarily on my 300bo pistol. I would like one that can handle up to 300wm just in case.   I've been looking at the Omega30 and the Harvester30. Any other suggestions?   I want a hearing-safe can that I can use hunting and is good for HD indoors.     Are there any shops that offer a layaway plan in the Chattanooga-Knoxville-Nashville area?
  11. I'm waiting for the sig brace...
  12. I have a Vortex PST 1-4, 2 Vortex Spitfire red/green dots, and a Vortex Sparc red dot. Unless you need the 4x capibility, the value/quality of the spitfire is hard to beat. I bought one on sale at PSA for $149! It went back on sale, so I bought another. I've never had any problems with any of my Vortex's. http://palmettostatearmory.com/vortex-spitfire-1x-prism-scope-with-drt-moa-reticle-spr-1301.html I bought the first one on sale ($149)... it went to regular price... I emailed PSA that I wanted to buy another at the sale price... they put it back on sale!!! Sold out now though
  13. Somewhere between a rock and a hard place...
  14. Since we're the "patron state of shootin' stuff", we should leave no doubt that stuff's been shot  Plus what Tennesseetiger just said :)
  15. Maybe once, lol I'm not sure what she'll be ok with. She hasn't graduated from the 22 yet, but I figured I'd load up something really light (but still effective for turks) and see how it feels in the Beretta. If it seems alright, I'll go from there.
  16. Well, my 8 year old daughter is jones'n for me to take her turkey hunting this season :) Does anyone have a favorite load for light recoiling 20ga? What about the lightest for turkey? It will be shot from a Beretta A300, but I'm not concerned with cycling reliability. A light recoiling 20 is a lot of fun anyway
  17. The tag says 70.5, but did the sales clerk at Cabelas tune it and turn down the poundage by any chance? I would get a cheap bow scale and check your actual draw weight before I made any changes. 32" is a long arrow, so he may not of accounted for the extra stiffness needed
  18. Barrett 50cal. Born and raised TN https://www.barrett.net/about
  19. I only use the "View New Content" feature as well.
  20. Another Q.... How long do I have to wait to put down seed after applying roundup?
  21. Thanks Patton. It does seem like the TGTFOs are pretty large. I have the Ameriglo idots (http://www.amazon.com/Ameriglo-Pro-IDOT-Tritium-Glock20-21/dp/B005HJ9HFI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1454982957&sr=8-2&keywords=ameriglo+night+sights+glock+20) on my G17 and really like them. I thought about putting them on the 20 also, but I'm somewhat partial to a 3-dot system. Edit: Hmmm... http://www.amazon.com/AmeriGlo-Glock-Front-Tritium-Sights/dp/B00LTKUD5C/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1454983160&sr=8-5&keywords=ameriglo+night+sights+glock+20
  22. I gathered up a bag of dirt today, took it to the COop, and sent it off for testing. I also bought some red and white clover. I'll sow it on the powerline once I get the ground prepped. I want to do some corn in our field by the barn. Deer hang out there anyway, so a little corn will be even better. The barn makes a nice ground blind :)
  23. Are the TGTFO so bright in the day where they are distracting, or do they just give you a little bit of glow from the fiber optic?
  24. Just getting back to this thread.... I went out a couple of times and browsed around. Didn't really have a ton of time to do a thorough search. I never did find any, but I did find some turkeys  I wonder if there are still any antlers laying around or if they've all been consumed by now...
  25. 6.5mm or 6.9mm night sights? Most places offer both sizes. It's shooting dead on right now with the factory sights, factory bbl and factory 200gn FMJ. I'm thinking about trying these out (combo of tritium and fiber optic)... http://www.glockmeister.com/TRUGLO-TFO-Sights-69mm-Green_Green/productinfo/TG131GT2/
