  1. Good write up. Thanks. I was saving the stream properly, but I wasn't calling it up. IOW, I kept hitting "unread content" even after creating a stream. Guess I never really explored all the tabs.
  2. Vortex PST 1-4 retails for $499 so it's a little over your stated range unless you find it on sale. I have one, and I think it's worth every penny. Or... Vortex Crossfire II 1-4 $225 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Vortex-Crossfire-1-4x24mm-Riflescope-CF2-31037/dp/B00HYRGODO I've never tried this one, but I would like to try it for the price. I'm a HUGE Vortex fan. I've been really impressed with their quality. I use a SPAC and the PST in 3gun. I've never had a problem even in the rain. My AR with the PST is sub MOA at 200yds with a QD AD-RECON mount. I'll also add that the PST appears to be true 1x for close range, both eyes open shooting. The illuminated recticle is not "daylight bright" in full sun, but the etched recticle is still easily visible.
  3. Sweet. Thanks! i've never delt with them before. Silencershop guarantees they'll get the paperwork done on time before the change. I wonder if I have time to get it done with Copper Custom. I'll call them. Their price is competitive with SS.
  4. The Silencershop has been out of stock on the Griffin Recce 7 for months. I doubt I'll be able to order one from them before the rule change. Does anyone know anywhere that has one in stock in the eastern half of TN? I've been looking for one of these for a while.
  5. I have to do that also. If there is any way to change the defaults on this, I'd be interested in that. On the plus side, I'm not having to log in all the time like I was.
  6. This bbl I'm looking at has a carbine gas system. What would be the ideal gas for a 16" grendel?
  7. Agreed. It's a sad day if PC invades TGO, lol.
  8. Is there an option for some members to be able to block certain sub-forums (i.e, political threads) if they are that easily offended? Surely if someone clicks on a thread in the political section they understand that there will be different opinions. I'm a little confussed because I haven't really witnessed many remarks that would keep people away. I enjoy the perspective of both sides and all the members, and I think the current election process will directly affect the future of the 2A. As far as the upgrade... I like it! I really liked the old site too, but the new one is just as great. Change happens, and it's important to keep up with the latest software.
  9. The cheapest M1A on buds is around $1200. I think that or an AR10 would be fun.
  10. That's another good point. I have avoided the guitar bag in the past for that reason. Someone would smash and grab that in a heartbeat I think unless it's out of view. There's been times I've just shoved my AR down the leg of an old pair of jeans and carried it out to the truck like that. Looks just like a pair of jeans laying in the back seat, although I normally store it under my seat.
  11. I think some people are passionate about supporting the GOP candidate because the alternative this time around would push to have this very site shut down. I must have a thicker skin then most folks because TGO seems to have very civilized discussions comparred to other forums. The politcal discussions are very much related to guns, IMO because the gov is actively trying to restrict our gun rights. Anyway, TGO is a great community. I predict the traffic will increase as we inch toward November.
  12. Welcome! An LCP in Thunderware should hide from all but a metal detector It's a very tough decision. I think it depends on the job, the circumstances and the people that you work with everyday.
  13. Nice!
  14. I'm still in the process of building my first one. Polish underfolder. My "bump in the night" long gun is my 3gun shotgun. I've got a lot of practice with it, and it's never failed me. Holds 9 + 1 I'm looking forward to finishing my AK though. I need mags and ammo for it, and I better get on the ball with that.
  15. Maybe it's just summer and more people doing stuff outside longer. Of course it's been so hot lately, I find myself hiding in the A/C whenever possible.
  16. I'm sure they're nice. $200 for jeans just sounds like ammo left on the shelf to me.
  17. Why would you pay $200 for jeans? They'd have to be skinny jeans at that price too I would imagine Serious question. This has always intrigued me. A good pair costs a lot less
  18. I'm going to buy me some DD stuff. I like their spirit.
  19. Thanks Rebels. I may order the barrel and give it a try.
  20. Thanks. I had never really considered it from a 16". I'll do a little more digging on it. Sounds interesting.
  21. I stumbled across a 16" bbl in 6.5 Grendel on the web. I know the grendel shines as a long range tool out of a longer AR barrel, but how effective is it from a 16"? I haven't put any numbers into a ballistics program yet. Does this combo have any real advantage over other calibers from a 16"?
  22. Thanks for the update. I read the first few posts of this thread, and it's a good reminder of the progress we've made here in TN (knife laws, parks, etc.). My wife's wanting to take the boat down there this year. I don't know what kind of headache that would be.
