  1. Hmm... hadn't thought of that. I would like to be able to load it up as much as possible (just in case a family of sasquachie chase me down the trail). Is it a follower issue or curve of the mag thing?
  2. I'm leaning grendel, but it would be nice to have that big thumper up close. How reliable are the 458 mags?
  3. I didn't realize they had the steel case ammo out there like they do for it. Good to know
  4. I'm trying to pick a caliber. 6.5 Grendel, 6.8SPC, 458Socom, 300BO...? I've decided to build a "woods" AR. It's primary mission will be to ride in the rack on my ATV while riding on my land to check deer stands, cameras, fence maintenance, etc. I use a Win94 30-30 for this purpose now, but I'm wanting to build another AR It needs to be able to handle varmints at distance, hogs, deer and defend against whatever sasquatch might lurk in the East TN woods. I won't really be hunting with it on purpose (I have other platforms for that). I just want a ride-along partner that's also a capable hunter. I want a 16" in something other than 5.56. I'm leaning towards 6.5Grendel, but the 458 has caught my eye. 300BO?6.8? What would you choose? This will probably wear a rattle can paint job and a light weight 1-4 optic, so it may double as a good truck gun on occasion too. I will also reload for it.
  5. What's the actual length of that BCM handguard from the face of the upper receiver? I have an 8.5" bbl and looking for a handguard that will permit my silencer when it arrives I have an SLR Rifleworks handguard at the moment, but it extends 3/8" over the barrel's threads You have an awesome look going on with that one. Love that color, handguard and PDW stock.
  6. Good plan. Would alternating them yearly be enough rotation, or does the soil need a longer break?
  7. AR's must not fit the Walmart model... not made in China
  8. I dunno... wearing a tightly cinched belt around sweat pants... in Walmart... sounds like he might fit right in
  9. Really it's 99% for the deer, turkeys and wildlife. I've got about a 400yd stretch of powerline with a small, single overhead line. I've already talked the the power co, and they said they won't disturb crops unless it's an emergency repair (said they would "tread lightly" even in that scenario). I thought about planting it with an attractant crop. I already planted a patch of clover, and I see deer out there all the time. I liked corn because it would also provide some cover, and it would be obvious to thepower co that's it's planted with a crop
  10. Is it too late to plant corn? I would leave a lot of it standing though the deer season.
  11. I guess no one here has it or has seen one in action I think I'll be the guiney pig and get it. I've watched a lot of reviews, and it seems to be getting 308 into the low-mid 130's db range and 300bo into the low-mid 120's. I lik the QD mount too. here are some reviews: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2016/01/tyler-kee/hands-rugged-suppressors-surge-7-62/
  12. A civil war scenario would have me leaning more towards an AR with 1-4 scope and multiple mags. Just a general situation where I can only have one... I'll stick with my 30-30 lever choice.

    Bear Gun

Seeing that pic makes me want a 458
  14. 30-30 also for me. I'd keep my pre-64 model '94 30wcf. I could cast and load it for a while. I'd walk with a limp, but I could conceal it down a pant leg if I had to, lol. I can hunt and defend with it plus it worked well in the days when peeps really did only have one. I'm accurate and fast enough with it too.
  15. I think I'm going to get this one while I "can" Anyone know anything about it... good or bad?
  16. That looks great! The spurs and pistol/belt are perfect.
  17. Wow! My guess (after reading the whole story) is that he probably has a bad habbit of playing with it and forgot that he was in public. However, that's a terribly bad habbit that can get him or someone else hurt. I think you handled it well and did a good job staying alert. I'll keep an eye out for this guy while shopping in Cleveland.
  18. I found a Rugged Surge 762 in stock, and I've read good reviews on it. Anyone have an opinion about this one? Will mostly be used on 8.5" 300BO, 16" 5.56, bolt 308 and 30-06 I like having the option of two lengths and not too many choices of in-stock silencers these days
  19. Could he be clipping the endcap? Maybe he's using hot handloaded ammo? I thought about doing a Form 1 for one also.
  20. Yeah, that sounds a little strange. Seems he'd have some level of noise reduction. Did he use a meter or just "by ear"?
  21. ^^^ What they said ^^^
  22. What length gas system does your barrel have?
  23. Cool. Thanks
