Record Black Friday Gun Sales - Enough to Arm the Marines
Wingshooter replied to Oh Shoot's topic in General Chat
Must have been the threat of a recount -
Great looking gun! 30-06 is my favorite rifle caliber. I have a Rock Island Arsenal 1903 that was handed down to me by my grandfather. It was already sporterized with a nice wood stock when I got it, but it's a great shooter. I also have a Savage 110, a Garand and I'll have a Win70 in '06 one day. You'll enjoy it, I'm sure. For deer... Remington Corelok 150 or 165 for off the shelf ammo or I load 165gn Accubonds over H4350. I've been working up a load with 180gr Accubonds over RL-22 just incase the dinosaurs come back Somewhat of a recoiler in the light Savage but pushes the 180gr nearly 2900fps with moa groups. Be a good elk load.

Looks like GB got some good rain according to the radar image. Any idea if it put an end to the fires?

They should be getting some rain now according to the radar. Hope it's enough to help.

I have a Simmons camera that just started triggering at every little movement. Last time I pulled the card, it had over 4000 pictures during a two week period, lol. I didn't mind too much especially since it had a couple nice bucks on there too. It just took forever to go through it all. The last 2 pulls have been similar. Plus, now I know what every shadow looks like in that spot

Official 2016-2017 Deer Season Thread
Wingshooter replied to rugerla1's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Congrats! I'd be happy to find one doe right now. Hunted several days beginning before thanksgiving, and all I've seen is a trespasser The deer know what season it is here and have gone under ground or something -
I have 6 that I bought more than 5 years ago for less than $60 on sale (2 were $40). I had one that was $200. The $200 one didn't last one season . 4 of the 6 cheap ones still work, but most are on there last leg. I have mixed feelings about buying expensive ones. I can confirm that the cheapies will work though but will most likely sacrifice features like LCD screen for viewing pics, settings, type of night vision/flash, trigger speed, no sound, battery life, etc. My next cameras will probably be in the $100 range. Although I would like to have one of the Verizon enabled cell cameras to email the pics to me in some of my remote spots. (or email the pic of the thief taking it home)

That's a pretty good point right there. Trump's election temporarily turned the supply/demand chart upside down I think. -

Depends on how much you would enjoy building one. I really have a good time putting them together and knowing every detail about it. It also gives me confidence to troubleshoot or fix any issue that creeps up. I can also modify with ease if I decide to change things. Not everyone likes to DIY, though. If you don't think you would really enjoy the process of building one, then I would buy one already together. There are some tools that you'll find yourself needing/wanting if you build one... barrel wrench (cheap), set of punches (cheap), small nylon hammer (cheap), upper receiver vice block, torque wrench, a bench vise. here's a good set of videos that explains what's involved and how to do it http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=11004/guntechdetail/how_to_build_an_ar-15_video -
