  1. In addition to some fence repair, I would like to do some coyote hunting. I have a Foxpro caller, but I've never seen a coyote in my area. I've heard them in the distance at night, but never seen one in my hunting woods. Bobcats and foxes... yes, coyotes... no. I'll see if the Foxpro can work some magic.
  2. I need to do some fence maintenance on my land. I didn't want to disturb the woods too much during the season, so I'll use the post-season to make those repairs before the ticks and weeds start growing again.
  3. Yes! I've been wanting a J frame for a very, very long time. I have no idea why I can't seal the deal on a small little revolver and yet these black rifles in various forms keep following me home. They keep hogin' all the cash some day I'll get that little Smith in 357.
  4. I hope they don't wipe out the turkeys where I am. We still have a bunch, and I'm already looking forward to the season. I see more turkeys than deer actually. Don't see many yotes, but I hear them singing their songs at night.
  5. Did he speak? Nothing gets my channel changed faster than obama, lol. Both of them!
  6. Good luck! I wish I was n the woods today. I like the cold temps for hunting as long as I'm prepared for it. It adds a touch of survival technique to the fun of hunting. Plus it makes the contents of a hot thermos taste sooo good. I really enjoy using that Huntstand app too.
  7. Welcome!
  8. Several tools that you'll want, but only a couple that you might need. You'll need an upper receiver vice block if you want to make building an upper easy. There are lots of different ones and methods, but I like this one. http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/730930/dpms-upper-receiver-action-block-ar-15-delrin?cm_mmc=pf_ci_google-_-Gunsmithing+-+Tools%2C+Jigs+%26+Fixtures-_-DPMS-_-730930&gclid=CPbLsoL99tACFQgOaQod9vAJYw You need some kind of punch set, but a cheap one from home depot or harbor freight will do. A small nylon hammer is useful. I just use an old Pmag for a lower receiver vice block if at all. A torque wrench is useful. You'll need a wrench to fit the barrel nut. Allen wrench if you have a free float handguard, but they usually come with it. Wrench for the nut on the buffer tube is usefull. I've never used the plastic bag, but I have crawled on the garage floor with a flashlight before Safety glasses.

  10. I understand what they're thinking, but I'd still be more inclined to buy a S&W. backpack, sunglasses, watch, whatever than I would the same items branded American Outdoor Brands. I guess they just want a catch-all brand to sell the "made in China" stuff so they don't tarnish the S&W name
  11. I've bought a bunch of steel for the closet. It fits the "buy it cheap... stack it deep" idea I mostly shoot brass though because I reload and it's easier on my guns. Although. it's interesting to note that the steel Herters HP is the most accurate load in one of my ARs. I can get sub-MOA results at 200yds with it in that gun!
  12. Every 460 Rowland I've seen has a comp. Is there a reason for that other than recoil. If not, is the recoil that brutal? That comp sure makes for a huge gun.
  13. Lol. That one in the throat makes me wince
  14. No, you got it. This is wrong...
  15. I have a Glock 20 for a woods sidearm. I love it. The recoil isn't bad and it does smack the target much harder than 40s&w. I haven't done a scientific test with the chrono, but I can tell the difference. The 40 is for those that want a 10mm Short I guess I have an HK USPc in .40s&w, but I rather carry my Glock 19 for EDC. 40 just doesn't do much for me. I used to carry a 44mag in the woods, but the 15 +1 of 10mm with night sights gives me more over all comfort. I load it with Underwood 200gn hard cast. I have not observed any leading yet in my stock glock barrel, but I don't put tons of that ammo through it. https://www.underwoodammo.com/10mm-auto-200-grain-hard-cast-flat-nose/
  16. I went out saturday... brrr! I didn't see any deer, but while walking in to a new stand location, I found an area of the woods that a good sized buck tried to tear down. Maybe he'll cruise by next time I'm out. I probably can't get out again until next week though.
  17. Lol, that brings back memories. I helped my grandfather turn a feral (or maybe stray?) cat loose from a small steel trap once many years ago. He didn't like cats at all, so he probably wouldn't have gone through the trouble if I hadn't been there. What an experience that was! We got it set free without too much bloodshed (ours). I'm not sure I've ever seen a cat bolt that fast since. I'm pretty sure that cat wanted to kill us.
  18. Sounds fun. My grandfather used to do a lot of trapping, and I always enjoyed tagging along when I was a kid. What kind of traps do you set? I'll be calling for some coyotes as soon as the deer season ends. I saw fresh tracks on the way to my deer stand this afternoon. I heard them singing on the way out of my stand at dark.
  19. I don't like the Feds getting involved in this. They should concentrate their efforts on reading, understanding and simply upholding the Second Amendment then the rest will work itself out.
  20. Signed it and shared it
  21. Maybe some Ruger Americans in 308 or 223. Cheap, light, simple. or... High Point carbine in 9mm
  22. I love the idea of adding some range to the 300bo. What length barrel are you using for your testing?
  23. American Home Shield: https://shopping.ahs.com/buyonline/?&mkwid=s_dt&pcrid=115909868338&pmt=e&keyword=american home shield&pdv=t&src=&mm_campaign=4ba1af906554aede504a53d63e96a2c9&MarketingPartner=Google&AdType=CPC&Campaign=Home+Shield+Brand+eCommerce+-+Exact&gclid=CLTU_-LX5NACFZ26wAoduDQFsw I have a love-hate relationship with them. They tried to deny coverage to replace one of my HVAC compressors because the repair guy said I didn't maintain it by having it cleaned regularly (he obviously just wanted to sell me a new unit at full price). I eventually won that battle, but it was a pain. They have replaced multiple hot water heaters, repaired refrig, repaired dishwashers, repaired washers and dryers, and fixed my HVACs several times though over the years. Costs about $450/year and $65 per service call. If you go this route, just make sure your unit looks clean and like it was functioning and failed because of normal wear. Did Hiller give you an estimate to repair it? If they say the compressor needs to be replaced, you might be able to get the model # of the compressor and find a remanufacture unit cheaper on line. Then just pay them the labor to install it.
