  1. I agree 100%. Obama wants to change this country, and I don't think it is for the good. He wants change... so what country does America look like after it is changed? Do I want Obama to fail? Well, I hope government healthcare fails. I hope attempts at bigger government and more regulation fails. I hope tighter gun control fails. I hope tax increases (says he's for cuts, but we all know he will raise taxes) fails. I hope his next multi-billion dollar bill chocked full of ear-marks and wastefull spending fails. I hope his policies on abortion fails. I hope his plans to release Gitmo detainees into America fails. I could go on and on.... I wish he would come up with some policy that I could support because nobody really wants their president to fail. However, I choose my country first and not the success/failure of some president. If his faillure means that the USA dosn't change for the worst, so be it.
  2. The DAO works like Astra and Glockster said. I carry a DAO. It is the H&K USP compact LEM. It has a long first trigger pull but a short and lighter trigger reset for subsequent shots. The bobbed hammer returns to the DA (forward) position after every shot.
  3. I bet this llama voted... just ask Acorn.
  4. Ouch! Passing this bill would certainly eliminate some of the "got ya's" while transporting a long gun for hunting / sport shooting. It would be nice not to have to be so paranoid about where I store my box of steel shot while on my way to the duck blind. I drive a truck, so my long gun is always somewhere in the cab. It is annoying to have to separate and lock-up long guns from ammo when I am allowed to have a loaded handgun with my HCP. I hope it passes. Good point about the handgun during hunting season. I usually opt to carry a handgun with a 4" bbl or more and of large caliber when I am going to/from my hunting property during big game gun season. Would hate to see TWRA when I arrive at my hunting property with a handgun of illegal size for hunting even if I did not intend to use it for that purpose. I sure hope they pass that bill to make it legal to carry while bowhunting.
  5. My take on the ammo shortage: I think it the distrust of this president that has created a series of unstable circustances. Most Americans (myself included) don't trust him with the economy, foreign affairs, or our civil liberties. He promises one thing, and turns around and does another. He can't even appoint honest people to his cabinet! He is not trustworthy and is a liberal wildcard. Who knows what he will do next... invite Osama to Camp David for peace talks... allow / create another Cold War... grow government into Socialism... tax or ban guns or ammo... who knows? I think that is one reason why we see a run on guns and ammo. Like others have pointed out, who knows if it will be available (or legal) tomorrow? The old saying, "actions speak louder than words" applies here. It really doesn't matter what he said during a campaign, he HAS voted against our gun rights before. I hope I am wrong about my gut feelings on this one, but I just don't trust him with our Constitution.
  6. I picked up a Roggio Arsenal lower for pretty cheap (they can still be found in the $130 - $150 range). They are a very new company, and I have read good and bad reviews about them. I will be installing the lower parts this week. Anyone have any experience with them (good or bad)? I am very happy with the finish... just hope the fit is good. Next, I plan to head over to Hero Gear and pick up a S&W lower . Here is my Roggio lower and 30 round mag:
  7. True. Had that happen to me a couple of times - talk about disappointing. Good thing about Bud's though, a couple of times I added an "out of stock" gun to my "wish List", and they notified my within a couple of days that it was back in stock.
  8. Well, looks like breakfast is on him... (that's bad I know) Actually, it looks like the bottom pancake is upside down, thus creating an inverted pancake. So, it's really an empty sandwich...
  9. AIG and other companies ar being investigated for wasting taxpayer money. Since assault weapons are rarly used in crimes according to the Bureau of Justice, wouldn't legislation on an AWB also be a waste of taxpayer money? In addition, Senator, why would you crush a thriving segment of the American economy only to give criminals an advantage over citizens?
  10. Maybe this explains it.... Can't get this vid to embed
  11. Uh... I'm not sure anyone (or any government) has the right to own nuclear weapons. That's a different animal that kills men, women, children, pets, insects, future generations, etc. That's comparing an apple to an orange. Let's keep it in perspective... a blackpowder musket carried by our founding fathers fired a single projectile down a barrel when the trigger was pulled... so does an AR-15! As far as your argument that an Ar-15 can be easily converted to full auto... I guess a pipe can be easily converted to a bomb. Should we ban all pipes?
  12. How about we draw the line here: good guys / bad guys right / wrong Capitalism / Socialism moral / immoral One Nation under God / A cursed nation that has rejected God arm the good guys / shoot the bad guys, etc., etc... I'm sick of hearing about "gun control"... what about "crime or thug control"? Consider this: "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -Thomas Jefferson, Proposed Virginia Constitution, 1776, Jefferson Papers 344 So, why does Obama want to ban certain arms, and who is he to draw this line you speak of?
  13. Thanks for the info on the show! I might be able to cruise up that way and check it out.
  14. I am getting ready to start my first AR build... if I can find the parts. Sure wish I would have done it six months ago when I got the bug. I plan to join the waiting list for a DTI kit (16" M4 or mid length - still trying to decide). I have found stripped lowers from DTI and Stag Arms for about the same price. How do the two compare? maybe I should go with the DTI lower since I plan to get the DTI upper? Does it matter? SA has a cooler logo... I plan to place orders tomorrow... can't wait but I know I'll have to!
  15. Well.... I guess I'll have to find a new name too....
  16. "this thing" That just sounds all wrong... lol
  17. If you wear a fanny pack, does that make you a fanny packer? Sounds gay to me...
  18. What are the rules on air rifles in the city? http://www.quackenbushairguns.com/ http://www.quackenbushairguns.com/50calcoyote.html
  19. I am glad you brought that up because I lost track of this issue. Did it go into effect in Jan? There was some talk that Obama would reverse Bush's new administrative rule on allowing carry in National Parks... I can't find any updated info on it.... Not sure how I could have missed the outcome of this important new right:screwy:
  20. The 80's big-hair bands still rule IMO
  21. Actually I need a new belt! The one I have been using to carry is not really stiff enough. I think I would be able to conceal the HK a little better with a good belt.
  22. HK USP compact .40 in a Galco holster. Looking at the Taurus 85 for the summer months...
  23. I like to carry my Ruger SBH 44 mag with the 4 5/8" bbl when I am in the woods. It's heavier than some other choices, but I hardly notice it with a good leather belt and holster. In the summer, I am most concerned about snakes, so I keep a few rounds of "snake shot" loaded. I am usually on private land, so I am always on the lookout for a hog to take down . From what I have read about bears, I am at disadvantage with a single action revolver, but I like carrying it. As far as hiking in the Smokies, I would take my .40 HK USPc. As others have mentioned... more woried about crazy folks, and the weight and size is more conducive to hiking. If I were choosing between a .40 and a .45, I would take the .45 with good HC or JSP ammo. I have read a lot of good things about bear pepper spray, and I am considering adding that to my outdoor gear this spring.
  24. This thing is such a joke. No way anyone even had time to read the whole bill even if they wanted to. I believe that anyone in the house or senate that voted on this without knowing exactly what was in it has violated an oath to the people! On the plus side, crap like this might ensure only a one-term presidency for B.O.
  25. That does suck. That same thing has happened to me on two different patent ideas. That is such a lowsy feeling when you find out that someone else is already making money on your own idea! Maybe you could change a major component of the item. For example, use a magnetic device instead of velcro or some other variation... If you do use velcro, just remember that "Velcro" is a registered trademark, and you might need permission to use the name when advertising your product. Fortunately the design patent on hook-and-loop fasteners (Velcro) has expired and it falls into the public domain, so you can use it in your own invention without infringing on Velcro's design patent. Hope it works out for ya!
