Holding the line, one person at a time. Good job!

Seems to me that the guy got two people on video going 90mph. The cop AND himself. A pretty reckless thing to do especially since he did not know if the cop was responding to a call.

can't tell without checking the anal vent... (reference to a previous thread)

Cherokee National Forest question
Wingshooter replied to RRMan03's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I like to camp, hike and spend a lot of time in the woods. I can't think of one time when I have needed a gun in a restaurant, parking lot, or just around town (although I am glad I have had it with me along with my HCP;)). I do know of a few times in the woods (not necessarily the CNF or WMA) when I have needed one and not had one... rabid acting racoon, a pack of angry dogs (thank God for trees!), and finding myself in close quarters with a bunch of hogs while scouting for deer. Carrying a sidearm while entering the relative remoteness of a forest goes back hundreds of years. It's just a natural piece of survival gear, and it really bothers me that we are told we cannot carry in a National Forest or WMA. I am hopeful that the state and federal park/forest bills will eventually become law. -
This long gun bill will make things a lot easier for me next hunting season (and going to the range). Don't have to worry about locking the freekin' ammo in the toolbox in the back of my truck anymore. I don't really care about actually loading my long gun in the truck, but it sure will be nice not having to worry about a box of ammo sitting right next to it.

Where does this re-attempt at carry in National Parks stand now? Hope it gets reinstated!

Elk Hunt application deadline near!
Wingshooter replied to Rightwinger's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Isn't one of the 5 permits going to charity? That would mean that there are really only 4 permits open to the drawing. Slim chances, but I am hopeful... I would take my Rock Island Springfield 1903 30-06 that I inherited from my grandfather. It was converted to a modern stock years ago before I got it, but the thing is a tack-driver. -
Voted, again... GUNS IN BARS The Tennessee House has approved a measure that would allow gun permit holders to carry their weapons into bars. If Governor Bredesen signs it into law, how would that make you feel? More Safe 51% Less Safe 49% Total Votes: 1024

I usually don't get close enough to a snake to identify it. "Snake" is all I need. I can pull all sorts of weird and previously unknown muscles trying to get away from one if encountered close up. I am careful about watching my step in the woods, and I will give any snake plenty of room. If I find one in my house though...

New Attempt at National Park Carry
Wingshooter replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Awesome! I shouldn't get my hopes up, but I am glad to see that this issue is not going to just fade away and be forgotten. I hope it makes it back into law. I only got to carry in GSM once, but I liked it. Thanks for the update. -
I would like to get out there and hunt them with my son. He is 6 and would be his first official hunt. He is itching to go! I haven't hunted squirrels in years because I don't like to eat them. May have to try them again, though...

Citgo gas in my area advertises ethanol-free, but is that Hugo Chavez gas???

That makes me feel better. I keep seeing snakes in the river, but I'm not going close enough to find out what kind they are. A couple of years ago, the outboard on my duck boat stopped working while I was on my way back to the dock. It was already dark, and I tried for a while to get it running - but no luck. I needed to go upstream, so paddling would have been frustrating at best. I was only in about 3-4 feet of water along the edge and wearing chest waders, so I pushed it back. Although it was December, the only thing I could think of was those crazy snakes! The movie "anaconda" kept popping into my head Glad to know that not all swimmers around here are moccasins.

Anal vent... I here I always thought that hissing sound was coming from their mouth I see snakes swimming on top of the water at least a couple of times every summer on the Hiwassee and TN rivers (and where the two meet) around North Bradley and Hamilton Co. Do other snakes besides cottonmouths swim? I hope so. I am pretty far to the East in TN.

Well, I have a beautiful male Bufflehead duck in my freezer. I want to take it to a taxidermist so I can display it in my office. Trouble is it has been frozen for about 2.5 years :doh:I have him well insulated, but I don't know much about taxidermy or how long they can stay frozen. Should he still be alright or do you think I have waited too long? Any recommendations for a taxidermist that does quality work on waterfowl in the Chattanooga or surrounding area? Thanks.

Let's keep it in context. I am talking about the leader of the free world. Millions (billions?) of people watch and analyze this person's every move. He is expected to be decisive and take positions on issues. His refusal to take a position leaves many to believe that it is an issue that is not that important to him. I am not judging him, but what he did does not send a positive message about the need for prayer in this country.
-
Not taking a stand for something is about the same as taking a stand against it. The point is... what message is he sending? He sent the message that he does not support a National Day of Prayer. He did not even have to pray in public. All he had to do was say please join me in praying for our nation today, or something like that. He could have at least endorsed the day and not just walked out on it. Then again, I did not monitor his every move. Maybe he did at some point and I missed it...

Think BHO learned that from listening to Jerimiah Wright for 20 years or did he read it on his own? I hope he is praying to the Father. As a leader, he is kind of saying that he will not endorse unified prayer - "where two or three are gathered in My Name..." A good leader leads by example.

I need a new bow - probably get a Mathews from Benton's Shooters Supply in Benton. I also need a complete upper to finish off my AR. After that, here's some of my wish list: 1) Taurus 85 or S&W 37, 2) Beretta Stampede .45LC (I'm a big fan of SA revolvers), 3) a 1911, 4) and one of these bad boys for some reason Bond Arms 45/410 Ranger Derringer 4.25" Stainless Barrel Bla for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $570.00

Is there any progress on the bill to allow HCP holders to carry while hunting (bowhunting)? I remember reading about it awhile back, but I didn't turn up any new info with the search feature. Hope it makes it through before this fall
