  1. Caskets are a dead issue . Walmart also sells jets...
  2. Wow. That seems like a bad position to be in. If a cop pulls me over, I don't want to have to touch my gun. I would be concerned that him or his partner might get the wrong impression or misjudge the situation. I can hear the backup now... "I just saw him getting a gun, so I shot." It sounds like there was only one officer there with your situation, but you never know. I like the 642... nice gun.
  3. Was this before or after he asked for your weapon? Just trying to gain some insight. If he took it after you questioned the seatbelt issue then maybe he thought there might be a confrontation at some point. I don't like the idea of an officer disarming an HCP holder just because they know that a gun is present. It would make me uncomfortable for my gun to be moved around at all during a traffic stop. I would rather just keep it put and keep my hands in plain view. Maybe it had something to do with your gun's close proximity to the papers that you were going to be reaching for in the glove box. When I am driving, I keep my wallet out of my back pocket and on the seat in case I get pulled over. I wouldn't want it to look like I was reaching for my gun when I was going for my DL. I follow the same rule with the papers in the glove box (I don't put my gun in there). It seems as if this officer just wanted the gun to remain within his sight while he went back to his car, but was he really concerned for his safety or just doing it because he can? Who knows... I wouldn't take it too personal or care so much about other people seeing my gun, but that's just me. I do see your point, though.
  4. That's what I've been thinking. I go nuts if somebody lays a heavy metal object on one of my cars (except for my truck - it already has a lot of "character marks" ) Was the gun in a holster? Did he retrieve it from the glove box, or did you hand it to him?
  5. The birther issue... Why can't he just show the certificate?! It is a requirement to have one, and maybe he does. When you get hired in a profession, you have to show that you are eligible. I can't believe that every president doesn't have to show it as a general rule. .... thread hijack over. My goal is to prepare as much as possible to minimize bartering. With adequate food, water, medical supplies, ammo (and TP ) stored up, hopefully I would be able to maintain more of a defensive position. I don't want other people outside of my family to know that I have anything useful. My plan is to have emergency food storage for the short term with the means to gather food on a long term basis (gardening/hunting/fishing). I have the same plan for water. Short term storage and filtering products for a long term crisis. I would probably just use whatever I have (or could spare) as bartering tools if it ever comes to that. I am sure that ammo would work quite well as currency if currency as we know it is gone.
  6. That's effective! I can't get to my father-in-law's 1200 right now to help you out - he's out of state. The instruction manual is not much help because it only has a picture of the spring, and the spring is partially inserted into the magazine in that picture. http://media.winchesterguns.com/pdf/om/model1200_om_s.pdf
  7. What would take the main stream media's focus off of bad healthcare legislation? .... A National Emergency What might scare those who choose not to have health insurance right now into wanting it? .... A pandemic
  8. My personal rule of thumb is that I don't like to take any meds or vaccines until they have been on the market for some time. This one is no different for me. I'll just continue to wash my hands and do what I always do to avoid getting sick. What gets me are the pictures of people lining up for hours at clinics to get the vaccine - rubbing shoulders with hundreds of other people. Clinics and Dr. offices are a great place to catch the flu. I have no objection to a useful vaccine, but I don't want to be a guinea pig either. I'll stick it out for now.... I don't subscribe to anything Farrakhan has to say, but I thought this story was interesting. Louis Farrakhan: H1N1 Vaccine Developed to Kill People - Health News | Current Health News | Medical News - FOXNews.com Louis Farrakhan: H1N1 Vaccine Developed to Kill People Tuesday, October 20, 2009 Print ShareThis Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan said the H1N1 flu vaccine was developed to kill people, UPI reported. "The Earth can't take 6.5 billion people. We just can't feed that many. So what are you going to do? Kill as many as you can," Farrakhan reportedly said during an event in Memphis, Tenn. "We have to develop a science that kills them and makes it look as though they died from some disease." The 76-year-old added that many wise people won't take the vaccine, according to UPI. His comments were made during an event to observe the group's Holy Day of Atonement, and also marked the 14th anniversary of the Million Man March in Washington.

    Dirty Ammo

I have put several hundred rounds through my HK USPc .40, and most of it has been Winchester 165gr FMJ or 180gr JHP from Walmart. It leaves some residue, but not too much. After a box of 50, the gun really doesn't appear that dirty at all, and there's not that much residue on the patches. I recently shot a box of Blazer through the same gun, and it was a lot dirtier. The muzzle flash was very noticeable (unlike the Winchester), and even the outside of the gun was filthy. I was able to wipe black residue off the side of the slide with my finger. I left the range with black hands from the ammo. I cleaned the gun thoroughly when I got home, and the difference in the two brands of ammo was remarkable. I don't know if that is typical of Blazer ammo, but that was my experience.
  14. That mule took a hit, too.
  15. Some of those hits are impressive... good video. I got chased by a Holstein bull once. All I was trying to do was fish in the pasture pond, but he wanted to kill me

At least you got a pillow...
  17. That is the reason for the opposition. Supporters of the bill claim that won't happen; but once again, it's probably 1000 pages that have never been read.
  18. This is only good for one person, though. Or, the budget version....
  19. Old, but she's fast.... Honestly, I just try to keep one of my cars with a full tank of gas. I also try to keep a couple of 5 gal. lawn equipment tanks full in the garage. This way, I figure I can relocate if necessary. I don't have anything for a super-quick getaway, though. Cool looking bike....

  22. haha... Big Bird 2012!!!
  23. You know, this prize has some funky timing. Just when he is deciding whether or not to send 40,000 more troops to the Gulf. I question the motives of this stupid prize. It clearly has nothing to do with what he has done. Unless, he organized some peaceful communities somewhere...
  24. Agreed. 55% say he was a bad choice. I voted, too. CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News (right side of page)
