  1. Time to upgrade that dial-up. j/k Seriously, I don't have very many problems accessing this site at all. Every now and then, the server might hiccup, but it's not for very long. I don't find it to be slow. I think it is a great place and a wealth of information. I plan to upgrade to Benefactor soon. I don't really sell any of my guns, but I would like to support the site.
  2. "IKICKHIPPIES" I think I am going to order a stripped upper from Bravo Co. today. I picked up a Roggio Arsenal stripped lower about a year ago, and I am just now getting around to finishing my build. I installed a DPMS LPK, and all the parts fit perfectly - good kit.
  3. Thanks. I'll check it out.
  4. I caught their show on 2012 the other night. Something about the Myan Calendar, 12/21/2012, the sun, the black hole, and... oh yeah, the world is suppose to end. I have seen a few of the "Life After People" episodes. They are pretty interesting. It's weird to think that no one would ever know if their predictions are correct (except for the dolphins and dogs).
  5. KY's herd is also doing pretty well from what I have heard. A friend of mine (KY resident) drew a cow tag this year. I hope they continue to thrive here in TN. I was encouraged to see the younger ones.
  6. I saw them in this area along 75 south. http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=36.412925,-84.276509&spn=0.015369,0.038238&t=h&z=15 Well, I can't get the map to center in the right place, but that's close...
  7. I wonder how many permits TWRA will issue during the 2010 hunting season. If we get too many elk, it will drive the price down on ebay.
  8. Oh man, that would be some horse-sized road kill. When I saw them, I had two thoughts: "awesome! I have to get some pics" and "please don't jump out in front of me :nervous:"
  9. I was in the area today, so I stopped by CCA (my first time there). They were nice enough. No one spoke to me for a long time until I asked if they had something in stock. Actually, I prefer being left alone to having a pushy salesman follow me around, but it was a little strange. Once I spoke, they were courteous. I don't ever see myself making a special trip there from where I live, though. Prices seemed high to me on most (but not all) things. They had a Mosin Nagant for $330!
  10. I saw about 6 to 8 cow elk grazing on the side of I-75 South near Royal Blue this evening. A couple of them were pretty small (calves maybe), but the rest were pretty good size. They were near an exit, so I was able to turn around and safely get some pics. Most of them walked off, but a couple of them hung around for the photo. I don't know how common they are to see along the highway right there, but this is the first time that I have seen them. It was an awesome sight, especially with the snow falling. The quality of my cell camera is not good. I wish I would have had my real camera with me. Two of them here (center and far left):
  11. Thanks. I knew there had to be a thread about it on here somewhere. I am going to order a few boxes. I would rather have brass just in case I get into reloading in the future, but this is a cheap way to stock up.
  12. Is Brown Bear .223 ammo decent? I searched this forum, but didn't turn up many results. I know it has a lacquered steel case, but I don't reload. I have had poor results with Wolf ammo in the past, and this stuff is even cheaper. CTD has it for $4.49/20 rounds. If it's reliable, I am thinking of buying a few boxes.
  13. The Power Dogg looks nice. I have never used one, but it claims to have a 100yd range with the remote. Looks like a nice call for $150.
  14. Gets pretty good reviews for only $39.99 Cabela's -- Johnny Stewart Attractor Calls Has anyone tried the $39 one from Primos? Cabela's -- Primos® e-Predator™
  15. Very nice.
  16. I got a laser range finder this year, and that has helped me a great deal in estimating my yardages. I thought it would have the opposite effect by training me to rely on the device, but I use it to backup my estimates. I carry it with me when I am out in the field, and I will routinely "test" my estimating skills. I got it primarily for bow hunting, but I use it a lot more than intended. Edit: I got the Nikon Pro Staff range finder for $200. It displayes a digital readout down to the 1/2 yard and out to 550 yards. They make cheaper and more expensive versions. Many will display accurate yardage to 1000+ yds. Having this rangefinder has really opened my eyes to my yardage estimates.
  17. I am in Boston, and the flakes are ganging up on me!
  18. When I moved to college, I rented a moving truck to take a few things to my apartment. I was still too young to rent a car.
  19. If you venture into Ohio, check their laws. I believe they have some weird requirements if you get pulled over. I can't remember the specifics off the top of my head, but definitely worth reading up on.
  20. Here's to an election year smack down!!!
  21. Only 4.5 hours to go. Be safe, and Happy New Year to all!!

  23. I have a Wii and a 360. If I could choose only one, I would keep the xbox. The kids and wife would vote Wii because it is more fun for family/kids games. Every now and then we'll have a big family race with Mario Cart. The 7yo ALWAYS wins . I enjoy getting online and playing first-person shooter games with friends on the Xbox. That's what I like so much about the Xbox. If you are getting it for the family, the Wii might be better. If you are getting it for yourself, i would look at the Xbox. I don't have any experience with the PS.
