1. When I was a kid, I really liked Lego's. Build, take apart, interchangeable pieces, multiple configurations.... I still enjoy the concept, but now it's in the form of an AR-15. Yep, 10% coyote hunting tool / 90% toy... 100% fun.
2. As I get older, the "toys" just get more expensive. Honestly, I don't refer to my guns as "toys" in day-to-day life especially around my kids or family. I get what you are saying... complacency leads to accidents. I do enjoy shooting my firearms very much, though. The difference is in just referring to it as a toy and not actually handling it like a toy.
3. Yes, guns are serious. They are also fun! Therefore, they are serious toys.
4. Hey, it's Fourthmeal! I have been known to make a late-night TacoBell run every now and then.
5. Seems like there might be more to that story Not to hijack the thread, but speaking of Loud speakers.... One of the funniest things I ever saw was in NJ. A lady had parked in a fire zone and just stepped out of her car. A cop car pulls up next to her. There were two of them in the car and the one in the passenger seat had his window down. He was maybe 2 feet from this women with the window down when he got on the loudspeaker and demanded that she move her car. She tried to explain to him in person, but he only responded over the loud speaker. I literally laughed out loud. It reminded me of "Please disperse..." from the Police Academy movie.
6.
I would encourage the UN to mind their own business. Their tyranny is not welcome here.

7. I carry a Gerber. It serves me well and is light weight. If it's dark, sometimes I will carry a small LED flashlight. I picked up a Coleman light at Walmart that is 115 lumens. It was cheap ($29), works well, very bright, and I like it. Somehow it got left out of the pic...
8. Welcome! Sounds like they miss the AWB.
9. The only king without a moustache in a deck of cards is the king of hearts.
10. Hmmm... I think that the TWRA does a fine job here in TN. I have lived in and experienced the hunting regs in a bunch of states, and I don't have many complaints about TN.That said, there are a few things that I wish were different. The first thing that comes to mind is that coyote and hog hunting on WMAs are way too restricted and complicated, IMHO. Also, the does seem to seriously outnumber the bucks in unit-A where I hunt, but I cannot take any does during the gun season (without a quota hunt)? I have more, but those are my two biggest grips right now. I wonder if they take the input seriously. TWRA Requests Public Input For 2010-11 Hunting Regulations | TN.gov Newsroom
11. I just noticed the part about your friend and the farmer's mule. You might have to add a video camera to your gear.
12. Sometimes I enjoy the scouting as much as the hunting. It's fun to get out and explore a new piece of hunting property. I need to get busy looking for a place, or I'll be on the WMA's this year. Are you going to be able to hunt turkey and deer there as well?
13. Did you just apply it over the old finish, and was there a lot of effort involved in preparing the metal?
14. That looks good. I have a Win 94 30-30 that has some bare spots in the finish. It got some rust on the side of it from a flooded basement years ago, and some of the finish rubbed off when I cleaned it. So far I have just accepted them as "character marks", but I have thought about trying to fix it. It sure would be nice to have a good finish on it again.
15. Congrats on the place to hunt! I'm still searching for a good spot close to where I live. I'll watch for the yote pics tomorrow!
16. Alright, you talked me into it! I was looking at the tools on Tandy's website last night. They have a store about 25 mins from me in Chattanooga. Is it best to order the leather online? I would like to try it.
17. Looks great! Is that a 5 1/2" bbl that you have in it? I love my Super Blackhawk.

Good cops?!

Before my wife and I were married (about 14 years ago), I was driving her car. We lived in Maryland, and it was pretty late at night. I was tired, it was late, and I was just completing a long drive from her house. As I was approaching the exit to go to my house, I saw the blue lights in the rear view mirror. I know that I was speeding and immediately pulled over. He walked up to the car and said that he clocked me going 72 in a 55. I admitted and told him I was in my fiance's car, I was tired, I was almost home, I had to work in the morning, but I should have slowed down, etc. I was having a difficult time finding the registration in her glove box. The officer says, I have to give you a ticket. It's a $100+ fine with 2 points on your lic., OR.... if you close that glove box and tell me you can't find the registration, I will just write you a $20 fine (zero points) for failure to display registration. I said, "Thank you", and I left with less of a ticket than I deserved. He and I both knew that the registration was in there somewhere, but he just wanted to give me a break.
19. I agree, Jackson's first proposal was stupid.
20. Looks great! I have a Mexican Loop for my Ruger. I can wear that thing all day in the woods, and it just feels right. I also like how easy that type of holster is to slide around on the belt to the crossdraw position.
21. I don't mind if a business is allowed to post. I just wish we had it like KY where you are only guilty of trespassing if you refuse to leave when asked. The current penalty in TN is overboard.
22. As far as keping you from getting into a bad situation, how about installing latch bars or chains on the doors. You could latch them when you are there alone, and the repair guy would have to ring the door bell. That won't fix the bigger issue, but it might keep you from getting surprised.
23. Buy them a German Sheppard puppy for Valentine's Day and offer to train him for them. Then, you can enjoy the show when the repair man comes in unannounced.
