  1. Cool, thanks! I got wrapped up in Obamacare and lost track of this amendment.
  2. That's got to be a record for following up on a thread right there! Impressive, LA_357SIG.
  3. Congress is being called in to vote on an "Environmentalist's Wateway Bill" today. Michelle Bachman said on Fox News that she didn't know if this is the one that bans fishing or not. **Update: Ok, it seems like this vote today is not about banning fishing. It is about releasing water to some swing CA congressmen votes for health care.
  4. I have read that it is not really necessary to check the HS on an AR, but it sounds like a good idea to me. However, I am doing final assembly on my first AR, and I have not ordered a gauge yet. I am trying to decide if I really need to check the headspace. I have been building this rifle as funds would allow for more than a year (wow, kids are expensive), so I don't want to rush it now. But, if it is not really necessary to check the HS then it sure would be nice to take this thing to the range this weekend. I have a Bushmaster bbl with the M4 extension factory installed, and I have an LMT bcg that I ordered from Bravo Company. It is a 5.56 I know some on other forums say "yes" and some say "no", but what do the experts here on TGO say? Are there any tell-tell signs that the HS may not be right, or is it just a mystery until you check it with a guage? Can't dig it up with the search feature... What do ya think?
  5. Right now we have 37 Dems in the "no" column. 38 and it can't pass by a vote. There are still 45 undecided. (accourding to thehill.com WHIP COUNT: House Democrats' positions on the healthcare reform bill - TheHill.com). No guarantees, but I still have hope that this obamacare will be smacked down.
  6. I bet they are paying $99 million over two years to cover $95 million in higher Medicaid payments to Tennessee hospitals that treat large numbers of uninsured. He'll put a little extra in his pocket to compensate for his "efforts". Gordon's not selling out for free. This reeks of corruption and personal pocket lining. Too bad he didn't get to ride on Air Force One.
  7. Way to "stick to your gun", LA! A 2+ year follow-up. Looks great! I am 1 year and 2 months into my 1st AR build and all I need now is an optic... almost there.
  8. I have advanced beyond frustration to anger. I am going to continue to call and email these elected idiots. I plan to continue to be like a gnat in their freekin' ear. There's a tea party in DC on Saturday. Road trip, maybe...
  9. Well said RNGMC. I'll send one to Gordon also. Me and several of my family members have contacted his office multiple times over the last few days. I am not in his district, so I doubt he cares about me. He knows how I feel, though. I wonder what personal kickbacks he is getting. I hope a conservative wins his soon-to-be-vacant seat!
  10. Am I reading this right? If 38 Dems vote "no", then the bill will not pass. Right now, 36 are in the "no" column. WHIP COUNT: House Democrats' positions on the healthcare reform bill - TheHill.com
  11. I have been e-mailing also. It's probably better for them to have record of it in their Inbox, but today I have been getting more satisfaction out of talking to a person.
  12. Here are some of the ones currently on the fence (including Gordon, Davis and Tanner). How Does Your Congressman Stand on Health Care www.offmyfrontporch.com
  13. I know this has been talked about a lot, but it's still relevant. Call Congress Now I have been calling and voicing my opinion again today about my opposition to the health care situation in DC. I'm fired up! Get on the phone, if you're not already. My Rep is a "No" vote, but I'm calling the ones that support it or don't have a spine. No doubt, some of those on the fence are waiting for a payoff.
  14. I have never been asked for ID when buying ammo Wally's, but the guy carded me last year when I was buying co2 cartridges for a BB gun.
  15. I used to max out my 401k up to my employer's maximum match. About two years ago a light went off, and I decided that I don't like the government controlling more of my money. I still have a 401k plan through my employer, but I don't trust it to be there when I retire. Now, I prefer to bring a greater portion of my hard earned money home and limit my exposure to government regulations and plan administrators. I can usually find a better ROI myself.
  16. Was she abusing you that bad with the clutch? Saw your neck snappin' around, did they? Yeah, if you perceived that those guys were up to a forceful invasion, then I'm sure that got your heart rate going.
  17. That's only possible if wearing the Three-Wolf shirt. Jack, I don't think there is anything wrong with what you did. It sounds like you had a reason to be prepared for a possible attack. I can imagine that it happened quickly, and at that moment you don't know if they are being aggressive toward you and your GF, confused, lost control (was there any ice on the road?), had a medical condition, etc. By keeping it at the low ready, you are prepared without unnecessarily aiming your weapon at someone.
  18. Thanks for the reminder. I bought a coyote caller and turkey decoy recently. Oh, and a new bow sight and rangefinder that I used during the deer season. I guess I have some things I can review, so I'll get on it.
  19. You get your rights at 18 (can't vote until then either). Nobody wants 6th graders going to class with a .22; although, I am taking my 2nd grader to the range tomorrow afternoon. He's excited. As far as the class goes, it is really to touch on what not to do and basic gun safety.
  20. Here are some discussions about that issue: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handgun-carry-self-defense/34777-can-i-carry-onto-public-school-property-if-i-leave-gun-locked-car.html. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/2nd-amendment-issues/10367-vehicle-school-property.html I interpret that to mean that if it is kept stored and locked in the car, then it is alright.
  21. Very nice! What is that stainless one?
  22. I am sure the Comm. Appeal will love this thread. What additional training is required to qualify for the 2A? Some states don't require a permit at all for a resident to open carry. I do think that training is very important, and the HCP course is designed to teach basic safety and rules. Someone with experience in firearms should already be familiar with a good portion of the course. However, I do agree that the video could use an update. Advanced training courses are available, and I think they are a good idea. Always a student.... As far as the distance on the range, it is to qualify in a self-defense situation. If the threat is much farther away, one could probably escape the situation.
  23. I think to make the weasel ball work remotely, it would have to be built a little different than what Varmint AL specified. In order to keep the wires going from the weasel ball to the FoxPro Aux jack from twisting as the weasel ball turns, the motor needs to stay stationary. Attach the weasel to the remaining half of the ball, turn it upside down and attach the rod to the motor. The motor will stay stationary as the ball and weasel rotate around it. That should do it. Now, I just need to get a FoxPro!
  24. I don't have a Foxpro yet, but I do have a weasel ball decoy. It sounds like the AUX jack just acts as a switch to the decoy. I found a thread on predatormasters that explains how to do it with the Mojo Critter. It sounds simple and should work just fine with the weasel ball. Here's what someone over there posted... Edit... On the weasel ball, that wire is small. It runs right up to the battery cover/switch. The problem that I see on the weasel is that wire spins with the decoy., so that would tangle up all the wires. There has to be a fix. I'll keep thinkin'.....
