  1. Can't argue with that.
  2. I gathered some patience and decided to check HS on my new AR before shooting it for the first time. After waiting for my order to arrive from Brownells and tracking it over the Easter weekend on UPS's website, I finally got my gauges. The headspace checked out just fine, so I am off to the range this week! I thought about taking it to a gunsmith to check, but I saw it as an opportunity to add some more AR tools (and knowledge) to my collection. The Brownells instructional videos on their website made it super easy. I don't have an ejector removal tool, so that was a little tricky. I only launched the ejector once... luckily I found it!
  3. I didn't get to hunt this morning, but I was out there this afternoon. I enjoyed being out in the woods. I saw a lot of wildlife (ducks, geese, a beaver, deer, squirrels, and a turtle) but no turkey. I didn't even hear one. I'll try again Monday morning. The thing that stinks is I didn't have a chance to do any scouting this year, and I hate just picking a random spot that "looks good". I am hunting public land, so I didn't want to go scouting around on opening day. Maybe if I can get out there early enough on Monday, I can locate a bird.
  4. I better check the attic for stowaways.... it says there are 6-9 people in my house. It does say that my grandfather lives here. He's deceased
  5. It lists my home value as "$1 M+" but the neighborhood as "below average" and I have no central heat or air. Some of the info is correct though.

    Buds Gun Shop

I was passing through Lexington last week and stopped by their store. I also had a great experience. They were packed, but I was treated like I was the only one there. I was looking at some AR accessories and found most of what I needed. I have bought two guns from their online store before with no problems. They said the online store and the physical store operate under separate FFL's.
  8. If it's a phone camera u can text/MMS them to your email address. That's a nice rifle!
  9. I agree. It took me a few years (and a few credit cards) to learn my lesson, and I should payoff the last of my debt (except for the house) this year. I use a separate account as my "fun money". When I save the cash, I buy the toy. KellyII, A 90 day no finance charge layaway might not be too bad, but I would stay away from the GE Money Bank credit financing. JMHO
  10. That is true... their advertised price is usually a "cash" price. I don't know anything about the financing, but I was passing through Lexington a few days ago and visited Bud's shop. Wow, what an extremely helpful and courteous staff!! I think their physical store operates under a different FFL than the online store, but I was impressed with the operation. Bought some AR goodies that I haven't been able to find locally.
  11. I saw risers at Dick's Sporting Goods this evening for about $20.... I never knew they carried them. serious. This thread is timely for me. I have been questioning this very thing for a few days. I want a Trijicon AccuPoint eventually, but I just can't do it right now. I just bought a Pro Mag PM137 BUIS http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ARR162-7.html today, so at least I can go shooting with my new build. I am going to try a cheap BSA red dot scavenged from a crossbow temporarily. I guess as long as it stays zeroed it should work for punching paper. Does it sit too low to use without a riser?
  12. Just hit $1.5 million donated.
  13. No difference? I have to disagree. The Repubs didn't give us this crap when they were in charge, and I don't believe they wanted it to pass now. I see a huge difference between the two parties. It is true that they both have corruption, make deals, and don't always tell the truth - that's called a politician and independents are guilty as well. The Republican party is not perfect by any means, but it is 'more perfect' that the Democrat party, IMHO. My observations show me that Dems generally favor bigger government, pro-choice legislation, gun control and higher taxes. I see the Repubs more in favor of pro-life, pro-2A and lower taxes. The Republicans are also guilty of expanding government, but not nearly as much as the dems. Given the two choices, it's not even close for me. I am a Conservative Republican that supports the Tea Party movement, and I hope the Repubs return to more conservative principles. This doesn't apply to the RINO's. There are definately bad apples in the republican party that need to get the boot this Nov. Just my thoughts...
  14. He could have been given a pass. I called his office several times and several days before the election. Each time, the staffer told me emphatically that he planned to vote "no". That being said, I still don't trust it. Vote him out. As others have said, there is no such thing as a conservative democrat.
  15. I have a sporterized Rock Island Arsenal 1903 that was passed down to me from my grandfather. I wish it still had the original stock, but it was modified before I got it . It's a really nice looking gun, though. It's a tack-driver, and I love shooting it. I deer hunt with it often - dropped an 8-point with it a couple years ago.
  16. With all the payoffs and bribes, they probably just got their pockets lined in exchange for shutting up. They'll all end up like GM and owned by the gubment. By passing this latest bill, they have created an unsustainable system which will lead to the government takeover of private HC companies. Then we will have the Dem's dream of a single payer system. I can hear it now... "Look, we must act quickly to bail out Anthem (or whatever HC company) or it will fail causing a major impact to our economy and health care system." The Dems don't want the HC companies to succeed in the long term, but they need the to do well until the elections take place so things look like they are working.
  17. Election Day cometh!
  18. I just finished my first AR. I built it (including the upper), and it was a lot of fun. A sturdy vice and action block is a must. I referenced the Brownell's videos GunTech : How to Build An AR-15 Video - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools and this article Assemble your own LOWER, UPPER, FREE FLOAT, TRIGGER, GAS BLOCK - Step by step instructions! - AR15.COM . Lot's of good info there, and it helped me to see it being done. A headspace guage is another item if you plan to check it.
  19. Thanks. I missed that somehow.
  20. Now that's ridiculous. Because they want us all to be on welfare so that we will always be at their mercy. That is Obama's plan... get everyone to nurse from the government. Give up if you want, I'm not.
  21. I think preserving the freedom to choose if you want it or not affects us all and generations to come. It's more than a feel good strike at liberty, it's a challenge to the Socialists that seek to destroy our nation.
  22. I heard a caller on a talk radio show today that had a good point. Stop calling DC, and call your broker. Time to divest ourselves of government stocks (i.e., GM) and bonds and invest in private, capitalistic entities (i.e., FedEX).
  23. Done - thanks! My wife will add it to her Facebook
  24. Just over 13 hours into it, and they have already surpassed the goal. $403,957 raised so far.
