  1. Welcome! Former Marylander here as well. We lived in Columbia and Ellicott City for about 10 years when I was in high school and college. Most of my relatives still live there. The big Eastern Shore deer, the waterfowl and the saltwater were nice, but I'll take TN.
  2. Northern Tool in Chattanooga had these on the clearance isle for less than 5 bucks a few days ago.
  3. I got a ProMag PM137 from a gunshop in Northern KY for $39. I am very happy with it. It lays flat, locks into position and feels sturdy. It is metal and matches the finish on my AR. It is not adjustable for elevation though, but my front sight is. ARR-162 - AR-15 Flip Up Rear A2 Sight, Pro Mag, Dual Apertures, Quick Detach, Windage Adjustable
  4. Does the one for 949 have a detachabe carry handle or is it part of the upper? I picked up a detachable carry handle with rear iron sight for $30. I also got a ProMag flip up rear sight for $50. Right now my AR wears the detachable handle, but when I find the right scope (or red dot) I will use the scope and flip up iron sight. Some flip up rear sights will run $100+ but I am very happy with the ProMag.
  5. I have this one: 8 Gallon Oil Lubed Compressor Kit - HL410197DE at The Home Depot I use it all the time. It is 110/120v and uses oil. The tank will deplete quickly if you are using it hard, but it fills pretty quick also. I have used it quite extensively to fill tires, for auto-body work and for home improvement projects. It wouldn't stand up to commercial use, but it works for light-duty stuff. I have used small and medium sized air-nailers, impact wrenches, air ratchets, grinders, drills, cut-off tools, orbital and straight line sanders and a paint gun for fences and some lawn furnature all with this compressor. The sanders seem to use up the air in the tank the fastest, so I will use an electric one for big projects. A smaller pancake compressor would also be great to have around the house. The smaller the tank, the less you can use a particular tool continuously. There are a lot better compressors out there, but I do like the size of this one for home projects. Any bigger, and it would be in my way.
  6. It will be fine, but as others have said... clean it ASAP. I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk that was completely submerged in a deep mud puddle (it was on my side when I fell in ). I disassembled, cleaned, dried and lubed it. Still shoots great!
  7. That's a good point, and you are probably right. I think my biggest complaint is about the other locations that I know of that have displayed only a circle/slash for years that will now be off limits.
  8. Hmmm... "of sufficient size to provide notice to permit holders" could mean different things to different people. What is the definition of sufficient size? I guess if I see it then it's posted, but if I don't... well, it must have been too small. I guess this is a good excuse for me to go get a new and smaller EDC just in case I accidentally walk past a small vague circle/slash (like the small clear stickers on a glass door). There's always an excuse out there to go gun shopin' My current EDC (USP 40 compact) is way too bulky for summertime concealed carry. It will be nice to be allowed into restaurants that serve and don't post once again. I am looking forward to that!
  9. Speaking of signs.... Here's a real winner at Beef 'O' Brady's in Cleveland. People tell me they have good food. I wouldn't know I guess it becomes a $500 sign if someone draws a little picture on it. Either way, I don't go where I am not welcome.
  10. I have mixed thoughts on this as well. We are making a concession on the posting rules to gain the restaurants that serve (that don't choose to post). Considering I have gone into a restaurant that serves alcohol only on 3 occasions (unarmed of course) since the previous law was ruled unconstitutional, I am trying to convince myself that this is a true win. One thing is for sure, it will be far easier for the restaurants to post. I can think of several locations (not all restaurants) that have displayed the circle/slash for years that I will no longer be allowed to legally enter if I am armed. Bitter/sweet on this one, and I am finding it hard to jump for joy.
  11. Cheap, but I like it... I keep a Gerber folding saw with my hunting gear and at home for yard work. That thing will (has) cut down some large branches and small trees with no argument. I used it last week to prune a 4"diameter branch from a tree. I duck taped it to a pole, and it ate right through the branch. This is required equipment for me when I go into the woods or camping. I think Walmart carries them. Gerber Exchange-A-Blade Sport Saw
  12. I use the Flat Rate envelopes and boxes a lot, and I always use tape. I print the postage from their web site, tape it on and schedule a home pickup from their site. I am guilty of packing the envelope too full and reinforcing with tape sometimes. They have never said anything to me about it, but then again I never see them. I try to avoid going into the Post Office if at all possible.
  13. The Force is strong with you.
  14. That's just what they want us to believe.
  15. Congrats! Weight? Wingspan? Stinger? Pics?
  16. I also need to get a BR player. In fact, I need a 1080p TV. I have a 65" Mitsu. DLP, but it is only 720p. Hmmm, just have to convince the wife... I have never seen Avatar. I was bummed because I missed it in 3D at the theaters.
  17. That's it
  18. Butterflies taste with their feet.
  19. "cracked" the glass.
  20. I finally fininshed mine! Well, except for the upgrades and changes. I built it from parts that I have been accumulating for the last year +. It has performed flawlessly after about 150 rnds so far. Once I get the optics, I will replace the carry handle with my ProMag flip up rear sight and whatever optic I get. I plan to get a new grip as well. This rfle has been a lot of fun to build and now shoot. Details: LMT BCG USGI contractors upper from Bravo Co. - M4 ramps Bushmaster 16" 1:9 chrome lined bbl in 5.56 - M4 ramps Roggio Arsenal lower that I picked up cheap but fit & finish has been A+ DPMS lower parts kit For what I've got in it and what I've learned from building it, I couldn't be happier.
  21. I can see the gas port if I hold the bbl just right. I don't see rough edges around it though. The stamp should be on top of the bbl forward of the gas port. What length handguards do you have? Carbine length handguards on a 16" bbl should not cover the stamp. If you have rifle-length guards on a 16" bbl, I guess it could be covered. I don't have that setup, so I can't say for sure. To remove the D ring, I set the butt of the rifle on the bench and push straight down on the ring with both hands. Once it frees up, you can hold it in place with one hand and remove the lower half of the handguard.
  22. It is free to apply online with the Annual or Life-Time Sportsman license. I got my app in. I saw a few cows and possible calves along I-75 this winter. I posted a cell phone pic a while back. Beautiful animals. A friend of mine (KY resident) got a cow in KY last year. I think he said they issued 1,000 permits or something like that. TN will get there....
  23. I wonder how many guys were just out with their GF or wife, minding their own business when this "parade" came through, and now they are in the doghouse. Just another good reason to always keep dark sunglasses handy.
