  1. I just ordered a few more PMags for good measure.
  2. That's very true. I was duck hunting on a WMA a few weeks ago and was checked by TWRA. There was extensive damage to the WMA parking area, trail and levee done by hogs. The officer was commenting about the damage and told us to kill as many as we could. I asked him if he ever shot a wild hog with steel shot. He said "good point". Possession of lead while waterfowl hunting would be a big Federal no-no, and the WMA was closed to all other forms of hunting except waterfowl. Therefore, an unchecked feral hog problem. I mentioned that I would be willing to help them kill some of the hogs, but I needed something other than steel birdshot. He said that was all I was allowed to use. I don't climb trees so well, so I only shot at ducks.... I wish TN would change the rules a little to make it easier to kill a few hogs and coyotes on WMA land. I thought the same thing when I was watching "Hogs Gone Wild". Once they had the pig in sight, it seems like a good rifle and night vision scope would have been a better choice instead of setting the dogs loose. I didn't get that.
  3. Congrats on the purchase. I really like my PF9. No failures so far. It chewed the palm of my hand up a little the first time I took it to the range. I took some 400 grit sandpaper to the rough, unfinished seams on the back of the grip, and that improved the comfort level tremendously while shooting this gun. It doesn't bother me at all now. I find it to be very accurate, and very easy to carry. It disappears under a T-shirt. Nice little gun that doesn't break the bank.
  4. You can do it online or at a license agent. The application period for the WMA deer quota hunts has ended for this year, but the drawing usually occurs in July. This is the first time I have applied for one. Here is the process... July 21 Application Deadline Approaching for 2010 WMA Big Game Quota Hunts | TN.gov Newsroom
  5. Absolutely, Conrad. That sounds like a great idea! I'll send you a PM soon, and we can work out the details. My hunt is next month, and I can't believe it's almost deer season again. The TWRA website has been "updating" the Hiwassee Refuge map for a long time - I wish I knew where all of the boundaries are. I have the old map, but it makes me wonder what the changes are. Edit: Found this one. http://www.state.tn.us/twra/gis/wmapdf/Hiwassee.pdf
  6. I got picked for a September archery hunt (gonna be HOT!) on the Hiwassee Refuge and a muzzleloader hunt on Catoosa - Bicolor in November. I have never hunted either, but I know Hiwassee has good deer numbers. I am looking forward to it. I've been doing a little Google Earth scouting...
  7. That's a good list. I also keep a sharping stone so I can keep my knife sharp under heavy use. In a pinch, the tarp or rain gear can also be used in hot weather to gather condensation if water is hard to find.
  8. I would have a VERY long walk to get home from work. In an extreme situation, I would probably attempt to commandeer a riding animal (unless they have already bugged out, too). I used to have horses, and the fields are full of them along my route to work. If I could avoid being shot by the owner, "borrowing" a horse might make the difference in me getting home to my family.
  9. Thanks, the bight sunlight made it easier to see the sights. I need to take it to the range on a cloudy day or in the evening when the sights are harder to see. They are pretty minimal. I am going to do the "fluff and buff" on it. What's the best method... just a ramp/rails polish by hand, or does it need more?
  10. If you happen to be using a Windows Mobile phone with the Opera browser, you can choose whether to browse in "Mobile View" or as a PC. I deselect the Mobile View, and every web page looks just like it would on a PC. I browse TGO a lot from my HTC TouchPro 2 phone with Windows Mobile and the Opera browser. It works great with full functionality. It loads about as fast as my PC on an average connection.
  11. Always results in chili cheeseburger toots...
  12. Hey, they were right about Y2K! Oh, wait.....
  13. Looks like a Ferry Flight...
  14. Man, I am lost without an Internet connection. Makes me wonder how I survived before Al Gore invented it. Welcome back to the Net.
  15. Thanks for the tips and the link. I have shot a few more rounds and cleaned/lubed it well. I haven't polished the feed ramp yet, but it is functioning great now. I really like this little gun. I have carried it a couple of times as a primary in light-weight shorts when I would have otherwise not been carrying at all. It's small size and light weight help it to just about disappear.
  16. I am blessed. I agree... a keeper. I told her that she has set the bar now for Christmas. lol
  17. The feed ramp does look like it could use a little polishing... I may do that. I plan to put a few more rounds through it this week.
  18. I think they'll eat most anything, but usually root in the dirt for bugs, worms and grasses. Every time that I have seen them in the wild, they were near a water source.
  19. Kel-Tec P3AT So far, I have put about 90 rounds through it. The manual does say that it needs a break-in period of 50-100 rounds, and they are right. I had 3 FTE and 2 FTF within the first 60 rounds. The remaining 30 rounds experienced no failures. I do believe that I was guilty of limp-wristing during the 2 FTF. Once I corrected that, I had a lot of fun shooting it. I found it to be pretty accurate considering the sights. I like it. The cool thing is my wife also said she wants to get her HCP. She really likes this gun and I plan to take her to the range with it. Who knows, if she gets her HCP maybe she'll want it back. From 10yds...
  20. Have you seen this special on Discovery before? It is about the spread of wild hogs in America. Makes me want to go hunt some! It just came on at 11:00pm, I think.
  21. Yep. I have to have one for my job.
  22. Even if they loose this lawsuit, I hope the claim itself does not cause some misinformed restaurant owners to post just to be on the "safe-side" of OHSA. Personally, I don't think this will go anywhere, but who really knows what a judge will do anymore.
  23. I think they just took the third vote on when to go home...
  24. They have taken two votes on when to go home and are still debating it.
  25. I am glad Todd worked it in tonight because I think they just voted to come back next Tuesday.
