  1. I just bought a P238. I took it to the range the same day and put 100 flawless rounds thru it. I absolutely love this gun. I also have a Keltec P3AT and a PF9. The Sig has less felt recoil and just feels more solid to me. I still like my keltecs and don't plan on getting rid of them, but I prefer the sig. The night sights on this gun rock, the slide locks open on an empty mag and the slide is smooth. My wife was with me when I got it and went to the range with me. She really likes this gun too... so, I guess I bought a 238 and lost it all in the same day. BTW, Academy has one for $449 (with night sights)!!! My new toy... A little bigger than my Keltec but not enough to matter...
  2. Amazon has one http://www.amazon.com/NcStar-AGOLF-AR15-Golf-Launcher/dp/B003ELMSFC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328830989&sr=8-1
  3. I'll be watching too. Awesome show!
  4. More great info, thanks! It's good to hear how cheap I could be shooting my 44s What's considered the best reloading manual, or is that all online these days?
  5. Thanks greg, that helps a lot. I find myself wanting to shoot more but don't want to shoot up all my ammo. I am looking forward to the world of reloading. I have been saving my brass fou a couple of years now. The 300 savage is a Rem model 722. The 300 h&h is a Remmy model 721.
  6. I will prob be getting setup to reload at Christmas time. I have not priced it out yet, but I am sure it would be cheaper to reload 30-06 and 300 H&H mag as opposed to buying it all the time. Not counting the initial cost of the equipment, about how much per round can you reload 30-06? Does anyone reload 300 H&H? I would eventually like to reload 300 Savage and 44 mag as well, but I would start out on 30-06.
  7. I have bought a couple of guns from Buds with no problems. I visited their storefront in Lexington once. Maybe they have gone down hill in the last year our two, but they were good when I used them.
  8. I bought a bunch of those 385's several years ago because they were on clearance, and they shot well from my gun. When I finally shoot them up, I will prob experiment with some different bullet weights and types.
  9. I'll give it a try if I get the time. I'd like to pick up a used stripped AR lower for cheap, or maybe a used sp101, or maybe.........
  10. Not much. It's a thumper, but it leaves a pretty small hole in the other side of the deer. I have never recovered a bullet to inspect it, though. I use the flat nose because it is easier for me to start down the bore, and it's just what I have always used. It might do more damage to the deer (and my shoulder) if I loaded it up to 100gr or more, but 85gr gives me the best accuracy vs recoil. It still kills 'em dead, though.
  11. Hmm, that doesn't sound like fun. Thanks for the input.
  12. I have always used cheap scopes (less than $100), but I got a Nikon Monarch UCC this year. Wow, what a difference! I haven't hunted with it yet, but at the range I can tell a big difference in clarity. Things are just easier to see now. Got a great deal too... found the Monarch on sale at Gander Mtn for $187.
  13. I might go to the show at the Nat'l Guard Armory this weekend (depends on what the wife has planned). I've never been to this one. Anyone been before? Good, bad, decent??? might pick up another AR stripped lower if I find the right deal
  14. What, no pics? I will be out there hunting with my Traditions Buckskinner .50cal carbine. I shoot a 385gn flat nose bullet with 85gr powder from the 1:20 twist bbl. It has good sights and it's pretty accurate. This rifle dropped a deer last year at 75yds, and I'm hoping it has a chance to drop another this year. I plan to get a CVA Optima this week to have as a backup if the weather is wet. Plus, I just have a rare itch to get an inline this year for some reason.
  15. Sounds like a good excuse (I mean reason) to pick up one of these bad boys in 44mag http://smith-wessonforum.com/attachments/s-w-revolvers-1980-present/50772d1312742279-44-mag-snub-.44-mag.jpg
  16. I would feel threatened in this situation, and I would defend myself.
  17. I have always used a side-lock percussion cap, carbine length rifle for ML season. I have enjoyed keeping it traditional and primitive... open sights and black powder. However, I might break down and add an inline ML to my collection this year. I'd like to use a scope and have easier cleaning this year. Plus, I will be accessing a hunting area by boat, so moisture could be an issue. Really, I'm just looking for an excuse to buy a new gun! I'm looking at the CVA Optima with the fluted SS barrel.
  18. Alright, maybe a bag of M&M's I would intervene depending on the situation, but I would prefer to let the cops catch him red-handed it if they can get there in time. If I jump outside with a gun, the robber might run and never be caught.
  19. Nice looking rifle!
  20. A friend of mine tells the story where he heard something out in his driveway (in Memphis). He looked out and saw someone trying to steal the stereo out of his car. He ran outside in boxers with a 1911 and flashlight. Said he held the guy at gunpoint. The cops came and arrested the guy. My friend was not prosecuted for anything. I would have called 911 and watched out the window with a bowl of popcorn, but that's just me. Stuff ain't worth it...
  21. +1 I agree. Nothing good will come by drawing attention to the matter. Sometimes the old saying "It's easier to get forgiveness than permission" has merit. I wouldn't carry on campus or posted places, but at the apartment....
  22. I prefer to carry it in a cheap IWB nylon holster that I had for a compact 1911. I am not sure of the brand (maybe Tagua?), but it fits like a glove. I'll see if I can find a name on it. I also use a Desantis #106 Sof-Tuck tuckable IWB. It fits good and is comfy but rides a little high for my tastes. Uncle Mike's size 1 fits it and is very comfy, but retention is a little flimsy
  23. This may not be the best advice for you, but I would still keep my gun in the app. I would make sure I was the only one that knew it! I might bolt a small safe to a piece of my own furniture in a hidden location. A landlord cannot just come in and search your stuff. My gun would be with me off-campus. I would not disassemble my gun or carry it onto campus. I would either leave it in my locked room, in a locked safe, with a trigger lock on it or in a safe deposit box. I'll assume there are no safe, close places to park off campus. I would be on a mission to find someone to take my lease, and I would distace myself from those trouble makin' roomies. The less they know the better.
