  1. Went to the Cleveland C-F-A today with my kids, and it took nearly an hour to get through the drive thru. The line started in the Bi-Lo parking lot, down a side street, wrapped around the C-F-A building a full turn, then into the normal drive-tru line. The people line was impressive, too. Took some pics... The people line had grown by the time I got closer...
  2. Thanks! That's a good thread. I think you are right. The cocking piece is pretty worn, and I will order a replacement. Hopefully that will fix it
  3. I need some help from those of you familiar with the M1903. I inherited my grandfather's Rock Island Arsenal 1903 several years ago. It was sporterized long before I got it , but it is now a great deer rifle. The s/n is 294xxx, so from what I understand it is safe to shoot. It also has a Mark II after-market safety lever in order to clear the scope. The receiver is a RIA, but the bolt pieces have the markings of early Remington ("R"). I shoot it often at the range, and a problem has surfaced. If the trigger is pulled with the safety engaged, the gun does not fire (yet). However, I can feel it coming off the sear, and as soon as I disengage the safety.... the gun will fire. Fortunately, I discovered this before it actually happened with live ammo! I took it apart and inspected the pieces. The Mark II safety lever looked worn, so I oprdered a new one from Brownells. That tightened it up a bit, but the problem still exists. I re-inspected and found that the groove on the cocking rod that accepts the safety also looked worn, so I am going to replace that also. My question and concern is if there is a bigger problem with the trigger and sear... has anyone encountered this before with the 1903, and how did you fix it? Here are the pieces.....
  4. Thanks for the reminder. Chick-Fil-A for lunch for the five of us! Love the Combo #1 with sweet tea..... mmmmm
  5. Very true.. "Elections have consequenses." I'm not necessarily excited about voting for Romney, but I can't wait to vote againt obama. I do not consider a third party vote to be a vote against obama because RP cannot win. Romney can and obama will be packing his bags if we pull together as voters. Obama needs to be fired by the American people at the ballot box in November!
  6. Yeah, kind of sounds like someone got spotted, announcement was made, other two came forward not knowing who had actually been spotted. No doubt, theater management and employees are scrutinizing everyone Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
  7. 6.8, I agree 100%. Obama has to be voted out in November!
  8. I think a second term for Obama is very dangerous for this country. As you said, he has nothing to lose and will try to "fundamentally change" this Country as much as he can. Obama will not hold back because he will have no concern about poll numbers or being re-elected. Romney on the other hand will have far more to lose by attacking gun rights during his first term. I agree Romney may flip-flop to get elected, but I do not fear a Romney first term nearly as much as I fear an Obama second term. Romney is far from the person I want to be voting for in November, but I will vote for him because I think he is the lesser of two evils.
  9. Good plan. Count me in
  10. Term limits! I think it's time for a ban on high-capacity oppressors. If the people of this county would demand term limits, these relics might think twice before they just trample on the peolpes' rights. I know it is just a pipe dream though because too many citizens are just sheeple in people's clothing. Hopefully this bill will get 'shot down'.
  11. Since you're in Tellico Plains, I would check out Foothills WMA. Hog hunting is still legal there. It's rough county (steep), but the pigs are there. I'm not an expert on hog hunting, but I would scout for sign near water holes and food sources.
  12. My guess is he knows more about them than he does the American soldier.
  13. I used a pair of rubber waders for years, and then I switched to a pair of Herter's neoprene waders. Wow, what a difference! I haven't used the "new" breathable light weight ones, but the neoprene has been great. Mine are full chest with lug sole boots. I think paid $89 on sale for them about 3-4 years ago from Cabelas. They have never leaked and the neoprene is surprisingly warm even in icy water. I have used them in flooded timber duck hunting. The neoprene holds up well. My dad got a neoprene pair from Sportsmans Warehouse last year (about $100), and he was very happy with them.
  14. ha, I just told my wife this morning that we needed an Excel spreadsheet for that very reason. As for me this week, I added more supplies to my first aid kit, bought some more reloading components and replenished some food items that we used.
  15. I would like to get started in it as well. Looks like a fun hobby. I don't have any experience with any of the equipment on the market. I do fly an airline jet, so I know how to talk over the airways, lol. It also has an HF radio but don't ever use it. My brother lives in FL, and I would like to have communications setup to reach him if the cell towers ever fail.
  16. Just curious... how big are the ones you have been catching? Biggest one I have found in the Hiwassee River was only about 14". Also, what have they been hitting? I would like to catch one for the novelty of it
  17. There are different ways to scout. Some are more efficeint than others. Getting out and walking is fun, but it is time consuming. I always pre-scout an area by using Google Earth. Most of the time I identify "probable areas" (saddles, water holes, funnels, etc) based on the map and usually find deer sign when I actually go to that area. Even if you don't have time to scout on foot, spend a few minutes looking at a topo or Google Earth before you go hunt, and you will be in better shape than just picking a random spot. Look for any spot that funnels deer into a smaller area (wide creek next to a steep hill, narrow tree lines that intersect, etc.) Good luck!
  18. I usually end up just browsing the gear at Gander Mtn, find what I want, then buy it elsewhere. Too 'spensive for me.
  19. It's killin' me I can't watch it right now. Hope the DvR doesnt let me down...
  20. Looking forward to tonight's episode! I keep thinking about the scene in season 1 with the horse in Atlanta... With the cattle on Hershal's farm, I would have kept one penned up on both sides of the house ready to act as a decoy for any oncoming hordes. Once the walkers flock to the cow, mow them down from a distant upstairs window with the scoped rifle. Another thought.... If everyone has the zombie virus already, Lorie better hope that baby doesn't die before he/she is born!!! Yikes!
  21. Haha, I've had that dream before. The gun with a 50lb trigger.
  22. Good thing to have. I bought one a couple of months ago. I don't know why I never had one before, but everyone needs one. I also told my wife to go get one today to keep on her desk at work.
  23. I just saw that on TV. Can't imagine what the weather is going to be like later in the spring with this kind of weather now. Tornado damaged my house a lot last year, but I still don't have a shelter. Here we go again....
