  1. Wow, look at that beard. Nice turkey! If all goes as planned, I'll be in the woods Saturday.
  2. Maybe I'll be the only one there, lol
  3. I would not wait to call 911 either. Maybe take a few seconds to catch my breath and compose my thoughts, but waiting 15-20 minutes would seem suspicious to me. As far as rendering aid... My first priority will be to ensure my family is safe. There may be other unseen attackers or the one on the ground may still be a possible threat. I agree with the poster that said calling 911 is the best way for me to render aid. If I can help, I will; but I would have to feel certain that there are no remaining threats.
  4. I like it, Seabeejason. I'm not holding my breath, but I'll think positive. :)
  5. Last time I was there I only saw hogs, but I wasn't looking for turkeys. I'm kind of in the mood for a big woods hunt though.
  6. I was ready to checkout until I saw that. I'd do it if I was running low though, I guess
  7. I was thinking of doing a combination camping trip / turkey hunt in South Cherokee. I haven't had time to scout it at all. Since its such a big place, I'm hoping someone can point me in a good direction. Who's hunted there for turkey? Lots of birds or not worth the hiking? Thanks
  8. Nice bird. Big ole beard. Congrats!
  9. Wow, thank God you're both ok. Sad about Ms May. I was rear ended a few years ago by a 40mph driver. They were injured but not fatal. 40 was bad enough, I can't imagine 70.
  10. Amen! Happy Easter
  11. The safe or the right buttocks?... Or both? :) It is an awesome decal. I'll be ordering some soon if they're still available
  12. I don't know anything about the Nano, but I carry all my DAO pistols with one in the chamber and no external safety. The heavy trigger pull combined with a good holster and keeping my finger off the trigger is my "safety". Just pay attention and be careful while holstering, and use good trigger discipline. That's how I carry my DAO pistols
  13. That's awesome. I roosted a couple of birds with the intention of hunting them today. However, I've been fighting a cold and just didn't feel like going out this morning. I'll be out after them sometime next week. Nice turkeys!
  14. The problem is the costs far exceed his salary. There is no way he is paying for the local and federal law enforcement to secure a vacation spot plus the cost of the secret service out of his own personal bank account. I know how much it costs to fuel a jet plus the related operating expenses. I know he has become a wealthy man since taking office, but I guarantee these related expenditures are not paid for from his personal funds.
  15. Yep, it's the double-standard that gets me
  16. I think the point is O made a big deal out of cutting secret service spending by ending the tours of the White House only to send those guys out babysitting. He saves a dollar here so he can spend two over there. It's not really about the vacation as much as it's about our government misusing our tax dollars. Yeah Bush and all the others did it too, but O is doing it NOW and we are deeper in the hole than we were.
  17. I agree if he paid for the vacation, but we all know who foots the bill for the secret service and all the other security measures that cost money. No way he is paying for that personally. From the article... "President Obama canceled the public, self-guided tours in a bid to trim $2 million from the Secret Service budget. The full cost of the First Daughters' 2013 spring break travel and necessary security detail are unknown at this time. Presumably, the Secret Service costs could have covered at least a few weeks of public White House tours"
  18. My guess is Benton Shooters does not want to sell all their ammo. If they priced it reasonably, their shelves would soon be empty. If they price it through the roof, then their shelves stay stocked full of ammo. They can advertise that they have all this ammo in stock in order to get customers to travel to their store. Once there, the customer doesn't buy the overpriced ammo but might buy a few other items since they are already there. The only problem with my theory is EVERYTHING in the store is high dollar. Im not making excuses for them, but that's my best guess.
  19. I just discovered some bags of enriched rice (about 70#), pinto beans (60#), great northern beans (30#) and flour (50#) that I had in the back of my food storage closet. These bags were never properly sealed and still in their original grocery store bags. Most of them have a use by date in 2011 and 2012. Did I waste all this food, or is it still edible just maybe not as flavorful? Should I Mylar bag and bucket it or.... Lester, your post gives me hope. Do beans go bad??
  20. Welcome from Cleveland!
  21. Great vids lumber_jack. It helped me. I have always used box and slate calls and never took the time to master the diaphragm. I'm getting the hang of them now though.
  22. Probably an intentional attempt to downplay the hype. They are a smart bunch, I think
  23. There's a reason it's called "their business"... You're not supposed to watch. LOL :) I have a Fenix LD15 being delivered today. Is the E11 a twist on/off ? The LD15 is, and I am unsure if I will like that compared to the push tail cap.
  24. Nice! I don't have any pre 64s (yet), but I have been keeping my eyes open. BTW, I love the 300 H&H round. I have a Remmy 721 in that caliber.
