  1. I guess I have been buying too many older, used guns lately because I just noticed this. I was researching and about to get a new Savage 110 Predator in 6.5cm with the Accufit and didn’t even recognize Savage’s website anymore.

I have some Cherokee blood in me, and I’m really bummed they dropped the Chief logo. I’m even more bummed that Savage decided to go full lib PC on us. I bet not even one true Native American even complained about this.

Anyway, does anyone have a 110 with the Accufit? How do you like it?

  2. Yep, they're all loaded until proven otherwise. And rule #2 about not pointing it at anything you dont want to destroy still applys even though it has been verified unloaded... because the gun is always loaded... even when it isn’t

Sad story and a brutal reminder that there are no do-overs or second chances for poor gun safety.

With as cheap as they are now lately, you'll pay nearly as much for the background check and FFL fee as you will the lower. You might as well just have them throw one onto your order any time you buy any kind of gun. At least you'll save on the BG check.

Can’t believe I haven't been doing that. Good idea

  4. I’m all for a discussion... as long as it doesn’t involve the Second Amendment. Non-negotiable, off the table. Otherwise the whole Constitution is up for discussion.

However, let’s talk about security, FBI tip failures, POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, and mental institutions. There’s plenty that can be done and actually make a difference.

I am done hearing about a compromise on gun control. I didn’t even watch any of the protests today. It’s a political agenda aimed directly at the 2A, and I’m sick of it.

I actually laughed when I read this. Who is "they"? You're suggesting the GOP controlled congress would have passed a new AWB together with Hillary?

The thing is Crooked Hillary would be even “crookeder” if she had won. Who knows how many legislators’ lives she would have threatened, blackmailed, intimidated or houses burned down to get her way. Thank God she did not win, or who knows the path we would be on right now.

  6. You’ll never regret buying two, but beware... they have a tendency to grow into rifles, lol.

I have built several Andersons. I never had a problem until recently I got a stripped upper out of spec. It looked like it wasn’t finished and wouldn’t even fit into a lower. I think that was a fluke, and I wouldn’t hesitate to get another. Their lowers have always been good for me. If the price is right, then go for it. If you want a smoother, blacker finish then Spikes or Aero Precision, IMO, but you’ll get a good build from an Anderson.

I especially like the Anderson lower parts kit. With some polishing, low power springs and a long adjustable grip screw, I can get a really good crisp trigger.

I love my PD35 Tac. Fenix is good stuff. Not sure I'll let it ride in the radiator support for a few months just to test its staying power.

I’ve never had a PD35, but I think it could handle the radiator challenge. Looks like a good light. I dropped a TK15 from a tree stand a few years ago (I was high: 20-25’). It still works like new. Fenix are tough

  8. I have several varieties of Fenix, and I have never had any trouble with any of them. I collect falshlights like guns and knives. My latest is a little bit bigger, but it’s super bright on 4 AA batteries. I use this one for some duties at work. https://www.amazon.com/Bundle-Flashlight-Including-LumenTac-Organizer/dp/B00WN5T1L4/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1520230362&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=Fenix+ld41&psc=1

This one’s super bright and smaller but runs on 2 cr123. I’ll carry this in my pocket sometimes. I also have one by the bed. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013GU4PE2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one fits in my pocket even better and has been a great EDC light. 320 lumens on 1 aa https://www.amazon.com/Fenix-LD12-Flashlight-LumenTac-Organizer/dp/B01MST2DCR/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1520231115&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=Fenix+1+aa&psc=1

So does anyone else read it as by banning guns with threaded barrels, they are killing suppressors too?

Kind of sounds like it. Win-win for them. Until someone invents a clamp on I guess.

What’s going on with the bill these days? I haven’t been watching any news really. Is it getting any traction or dying down? I can’t see it having enough votes to pass right now, but ya never know

So has this chit storm effectively blown over or what?

    I'm having trouble keeping up.

I was wondering the same thing. I haven’t watched much news lately. When they started talking about dianne Feinstein and phallic-shaped guns, I gave up on the conversation.

I just ran down to the Jonesborough Walmart here in Johnson City to pick up a couple of boxes of ammo for my SIL's 30/30 so we could go shooting tomorrow morning.  I had to ask for someone to come back to sporting goods and when the person showed up it was the customer serv manager.  When I asked to get some ammo, I was told that it was against federal law for them to sell ammo past 9PM and that if he were to open that ammo case the ATF and JCPD would be all over the place.

I have heard a lot of good ones in my time but this was by far one of the best.  I spent over 15 years with one of our local PDs and never once have I heard of this and can't recall ever hearing of anyone being dispatched out to a store because they sold ammo after 9PM.  I even told the guy this and that it might be a Walmart policy but it was in no way a federal law.  He just said he couldn't do it either way.  Funny thing was, I went over and picked up a box of 12 gauge and 22 ammo off of the shelve and bought them with no problems.

In other words his supervisor leaves at 9pm, and he doesn’t feel like exerting himself by opening the case and working the register.

I'm a bit confused.  If you only go into REI (whatever that is) to browse gear to order online, how exactly do you boycott them?

They won’t feel the sting of my boycott for this reason, but add me to the list.

I’ll show ‘em by deleting their app from my phone ;)

  13. I always liked going into an REI, browsing around and handling the merchandise. Then I would order what I liked online at a MUCH cheaper price. Kind of like Gander Mountain

It’s a cool hiking, camping, outdoor store but expensive. It’ll now add them to my “no-buy” list for their actions.

Well, looks like the senate repubs are on our side in contrast to trump's call for gun control...

    http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/376172-senate-gop-rejects-trumps-call-to-go-big-on-gun-legislation

Senate Republicans say President Trump’s comments Wednesday calling for more ambitious gun-control proposals won’t change the political calculus in their conference, which supports a limited response to the shooting at a Florida high school.

Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), who is leading the GOP response to gun violence in the upper chamber, told reporters after the meeting with Trump at the White House that he still favors a limited approach.

He wants to put a narrow bill on the floor that would give state and local officials more incentive to report relevant information to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System known as NICS.

"For me the most obvious place to start is the Fix NICS [National Instant Criminal Background Check System] bill that has 46 cosponsors," Cornyn said of the bill he’s co-sponsored with Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy (Conn.).

Cornyn warned that the Senate risked a repeat of this month’s failed immigration debate if it tries to draft an expansive piece of legislation.

"I think the best way to start is to start with Fix NICS and then we can see what sort of amendments people that can get 60 votes," he said.

The narrow approach favored by Cornyn is the strategy that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) effectively endorsed the day before.

Trump surprised lawmakers at a White House meeting Wednesday afternoon when he voiced support for a five-year-old proposal sponsored by Sens. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) to expand background checks for firearms bought at gun shows and over the Internet.

Hours before, Senate Republicans said it had no chance of passing and wasn’t really on the table.

Trump also reiterated his support for raising the age requirement for purchasing assault-style rifles from 18 to 21 years, dispelling uncertainty on Capitol Hill about where he stood on the question.

GOP leaders at lunchtime Wednesday said that raising the age threshold wouldn’t have enough votes to pass.

“There aren’t the votes there for that,” Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Thune (R-S.D.) told The Hill.

Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), who over the weekend indicated support for raising the age for buying rifles, on Tuesday walked back his earlier statement.

And Trump urged lawmakers to fit a variety of ideas into one bill, dramatically expanding the scope of the legislative response that GOP leaders had tried to keep as narrow as possible.

So this puts a thought in my head... Could it be that he’s playing a game of political chess? I know it’s a stretch, but he has an opportunity for a genius move here. He just announced his re-election campaign and campaign manager, so he’s in that mode. What if he’s putting a little concern and fear into his base ahead of the midterms? If the Senate appears to be holding his reins, what better motivational tool to get repubs to the ballot box to strengthen congress than to make it look like we need them to hold it together. Then, he has two more years before his re-election to win our support back. It would be a win for the GOP in the midterms and possibly a win for his image among anti-gunners. He doesn’t have to actually pass much of anything, just make it look like he’s trying to do something. I know it’s a stretch, but he is a forward thinker.

I’m not saying that I really think that’s what is happening, but it is a golden opportunity. Stranger things have happened.
