  1. I think it's because these smiths don't have the lock.
  2. Thanks! I sure am enjoying this gun a lot considering I haven't even shot it yet. I have to admit, I'm already having thoughts about an M44 :)

    Mosin Nagant

I would tell him you will go with him to his brother's house to retrieve it, and I would want to go immediately. Tell him you need it now, and you want it back. If he did pawn it, I might borrow his Kia for a couple hours. At any rate this isn't a friend, and I don't think I would want to be around someone like that.
  4. I got that model for my son. Super accurate and reliable gun. It's short, but it's not too "youthy" for me to enjoy shooting. You can't go wrong with a Henry We've put a couple of bricks through it and not one hiccup
  5. Nice looking rifle! I also just got my first one this past weekend. I haven't shot mine yet. All my numbers match except the bayonet as well.
  6. I picked up a 3" model 13 .357 about a year ago for that price. Best handgun I own. I'm real tempted to order one of those square butted 4" model 10s
  7. 1) my AR15 with lots of loaded mags. Soon to be suppressed 2) Glock19 3) Condor Golok machete with birds head grip
  8. I have a lot of Krud Kutter on hand :) I used that and Dawn soap with hot water on the tools/oiler can. I'll go that route for the barrel, etc. I think I will try the hair dryer method on the wood. I'll go slow with it and start with an inconspicuous area.
  9. That's a good idea, too. Thanks!
  10. Thanks for the tip... I'll give it a try. I know what you mean about not doing it in the house. My wife already booted me out to the garage when I started cleaning off the tool kit, lol. I might get started on the rifle tonight.
  11. I'm definitely glad it's there. It's messy to get off, but the rifle wouldn't be as good without it. :)
  12. I noticed it when I got my HCP renewal. I didn't like it at first, but I do like that it fits in the wallet better.
  13.   Thanks! That cosmoline is nasty!   I removed it from the tool kit and oil can, and then I decided the rifle could wait a couple more days, lol.
  14.   Thanks! That's cool.. same year and with brass. I have really been enjoying this rifle so far. Can't wait to shoot it
  15. Everyone seems to own a Mosin these days, so I thought I'd join the crowd :) It's a round receiver and has refurb mark on the stock. There were three on the rack, and this one looked the best to me with the brass. I haven't cleaned it yet, and it is loaded with cosmoline. I wiped as much as I could from the exterior with a dry rag. I can't really check the bore yet because it has so much of that junk in it. I wiped enough away from the crown to see that it has not been counter bored, and the crown looks good. The bolt is super smooth and easy to operate. Barrel, buttstock, Mag floor plate and bolt have matching numbers. Stamped 1943 with Soviet emblem. The bayonet has a different number. It came with bayonet, oiler can, pouch, cleaning kit and sling. This is my first one, and I didn't know much about Mosins when I saw it on the rack. The impulse hit me to buy it, and I'm happy to have one. Now just have to clean off all that gravy it's been wearing and I'll be off to see how she shoots!
  16. I switch out between an old 870 and a beater Winchester 94 (post-64 with a little rust) in 30/30 depending on my mood. I figure either of those two will always work, have plenty of power, don't take up too much space and and I'm not out more than a couple hundred bucks if something happens to one of them. I always have my carry gun with me too.
  17. The same thing crossed my mind. However, maybe it's just a bunch of canceled orders freeing up the supply. Dunno
  18. Just one more reason for me to NEVER go to CA
  19. I think maybe it has already happened
  20. ^^The fix for the ammo shortage
  21. Welcome to TGO!!
  22. "All I have to do is blame your family for EVERYTHING..... "
  23. That's good, lol
  24. I feel a little sick just thinking about that...
  25. Obamacare has a very real chance of backfiring on them, IMO. There was some mention on the news today about the House trying to exempt themselves and their workers from it. When this mess is fully implemented, I think it's going to crush parts of the economy and change a lot of political minds.
