Pincus suggests verbally warning home invader
Wingshooter replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I think it all depends on the situation, and every situation is different. It could be a kid you know that is trying to prank. On the other hand, it could be someone willing to kill you. It's a really tough call and a very serious one. I'm not going to be "pre-loaded" to pull the trigger unless I determine that pulling the trigger is the proper first response. An intruder advancing toward my family in a dark hallway of our home is probably not going to hear me yelling over the sound of gunfire anyway. If someone just walks in the door while I'm home alone and I have the tactile advantage... I'll say get out of my house and back it up with lead only if necessary. I think it really does depend on the situation. -
Pincus suggests verbally warning home invader

I'll tell them to get out of my house if I feel it's appropriate for the situation. Pulling the trigger is last resort for me -
My wife loves her P238 beacause it's so easy to rack and shoots so nice. She doesn't have any trouble with the Glocks and larger slides either. It's the ones like my PF9 that she doesn't like

I've seen the same looking type in my backyard. Same deal... it builds a web at night between two trees in my backyard. I almost put my face in it one night walking the dog. It was gone the next day. Looking forward to the replies on this...

You're not kiddin'. I've noticed that too. We bought in the city limits of Cleveland about 12 years ago, and it was slower pace then. It's definitely growing up. That new Publix is going to be nice though Bradley County is a great place to live. I like most areas of TN, though

I lost the connection right after I took that screenshot. When I refreshed, only the coons were there. I guess they won, lol

Well, this is kind of cool... I was just looking at my reloading bench area. It's in a room with a concrete floor. I have always used a rug there that was left at my house by the previous owner when we moved in. I was curious, so I just flipped it over. It has a rubber backing with "staticstopper" printed on it. So at least I looked like I knew what I was doing even if that rug was there by accident :)

I think they just want to control where (or how often) the brass and/or dust is swept. They just made up the part about the EPA. I've never experienced this at any range before, and they all have brooms sitting around.

I guess we are considered members of the KKK

I actually don't think that the majority of voters disagree with our core beliefs. There are those that vote for a hand-out, but a bunch just have blinders on.I think that the majority of voters don't know what the are doing. We have a corrupt media system that sways elections. If the media could be "cleaned up" to report more facts than drama, we might see some positive changes to our government. -
I guess if nothing else, work barefoot and touch something else first as you enter the reloading room. I'll be getting a mat though. Found this http://m.globalindustrial.com/m/g/janitorial-maintenance/mats-carpets/anti-static/esd-anti-static-mats-conductive-carpets And this http://www.amazon.com/Wearwell-Diamond-Plate-Conductive-Electronic-High-Voltage/dp/B004E10VWI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377443472&sr=8-1&keywords=Esd+floor+mat

But the reality is..... 'Nowadays, instead of dressing like a foreign enemy or publicly denouncing the USA, many left-wing extremists will just espouse messages of hate towards individuals that still love liberty, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.' They can call me what they want. I do not see eye to eye with them. -
Ouch. Glad it wasn't worse but still looks painful. I hope you heal up quick. It sounds like static to me also. I'll sometimes get a little zap when I turn the light switch on in the garage. I never though about that happening at the reloading bench. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm definately getting an ESD mat for my reloading area and also in the other area where I store my fuels.

Speaking of killing bees... I've never loaded up "bee shot" before. What's a good recipe for .38 ? -
Just filled it or something.

I'm pretty sure I would have ended up dangling from my harness right after I tried to "fly" out of my stand. Wow, that bear was FAST!

Foaming spray and gas should work. I'd definitely light it though... Do you have a bow? Flaming arrow into the vicinity of the gas filled hole would raise the cool factor ;) BTW, my wife would probably be standing somewhere with a video camera just in case they case me -

But if the photographer had been muslim, I'm sure he could have stopped taking pictures at noon to face east and that would have been ok (because of religion). -
The cool thing about primitive hunting is that the best equipment is not necessary. My 25 year old Bear bow will kill a dear just as dead as my new one. However, the newer compound bows have two destinct advantages... cam technology has produced bows that are quieter and can launch a fast arrow at lower pull weights. They are usually smaller (lighter), too. A bow that fits you combined with lots of practice is the most important thing. I prefer to shoot a bow near it's max draw weight. For example, if 50 pounds draw is comfortable, I would want a 50# max draw weight. You will also want to know your draw length and have the bow adjusted to fit you. There are a lot of good bows on the market, some are a lot more expensive than others. Matthews has a huge marketing department, and you will see them in use on TV the most. They are awsome bows! However, they come with the price tag. Hoyt and PSE are similar. You wont go wrong with any of those. They are the big names but certainly not required. I found really good value in my Martin Firecat. It was less than $400 new (without accessories) it's quiet and shoots a hunting arrow at 290fps. Something you have to watch out for when bow shopping is whether or not you are buying just the bow or a ready-to-shoot package. On a compound hunting bow, you'll want an arrow rest (Wisker Biscuit brand is great or hunting), a sight (I prefer fiber optic), a quiver, a stabilizer, and a peep sight (functions like the rear sight on a rifle). Some bows are sold as a package with all that already installed. Some bows are sold as just the bow, and you would need to purchase the accessories separately. Just something to keep in mind. Most people also use a mechanical release instead of fingers on a compound bow... Personal preference.
