  1. I laughed too after it was over because I knew how crazy I must have looked. I ran through plenty of spider webs too which added to the whole experience with arms flailing. It's always annoyed me that spiders build their webs at face level in the woods. After the chigger incident, I'm surprised I didn't get stung by all of them. I will proceed with caution on Saturday, lol. If you see a guy duel wielding Thermacells and a tank of Deet, that's me :)
  2. Lol. Thanks for looking out for me! I heard that sasquatchs are attracted to wolves though, so now I'm scared :) Speaking of chiggers, this is the year of the bug for me. I went out to my property a couple of days ago and stirred up a ground nest of yellow jackets!! Thankfully, they didn't sting me on top of my healing chigger wounds, but I got some exercise running like a fool through the woods, lol. I feel like the woods are trying to tell me to stay out
  3. Have you found any real scrapes? If so, you can get a drip bag to hang over it that drips during daylight to adjust their pattern. If you don't have any real scrapes, I've had great luck with mock scrapes in the past. Personally, I will be waiting until we get a cold snap before I start thinking about scrapes though, but I don't think you would hurt anything by doing it now. I wouldn't be very aggressive with the scent though until closer to the rut.
  4. I can't wait either! I'd like to put a couple of tasty does in the freezer early on in the season. That way I can relax and hunt a good buck during the rut knowing that I've already got backstraps for the table. I'm really late getting my cameras out though.
  5. Tried both all day but only got busy signal. The phones are either off the hook or burning up with future Joe Carr voters
  6. Pulp Fiction for me. "If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions." Lol "Oh, I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?" I need to watch it again... Been a few years. Makes me hungry for a "Royale with cheese"
  7.   You're right. Might cause the buffer to bind
  8. I just saw that email from SenateConservatives too. It's like reliving the original obamacare vote all over again. Shutting down the government is prefferable to allowing obamacare IMO. Phones are busy, and I havent been able to ge through to corker or alexander all day. I'll keep trying. Ugh, It's so annoying that we have to fight these people on stuff like this
  9. I wonder if some spray-on rubber coating (plasti-Dip I think it's called from the hardware store) on the inside of the buffer tube would help.
  10. Let's just say that if was that kid's parent, I wouldn't be a very good neighbor to the 911 caller anymore. I would hire a good lawyer, and I would most definately prohibit that school system from anymore involvent with my kids.   Stupid circumstance.
  11. So, I guess Reid is going to call a Senate vote on Wednesday. I have fallen behind on this one and haven't called Corker or Alexander recently... I'm getting ready to though. How do they stand on this? They with McConnell or Cruz? I would imagine they will fall in line like good little RHINOS, but you never know.
  12. That's just stupid. It's a sacrifice, but we managed to get our kids into a private school last year. Got tired of the governments influence on the public schools. It was nice at the fall fair last year... The school auctioned off some donated items, and one of them was a rifle :)
  13. That's the way I do mine too. I've always been lucky to have the holes line up pretty easy @ 30-40
  14. I'm building a similar setup right now. Old junk laptop and a mifi.... That's a great idea. I wish I would have thought of that before I ordered a cradle point router. What service plan did you go with at Verizon for the mifi?
  15. Haven't seen any yet but getting about time for some hoarfrost :)
  16. I have seen a washer-like device in some LGS designed to reduce buffer spring noise. It basically looks like a thick nylon washer that goes between the end of the spring and the metal buffer tube. Dunno if it makes a difference though
  17. More info I found on anouther forum about Old Betsy. Maybe a Graham Rifle manufactured in KY?
  18. I know several (5) doctors that have their own practice. One plans to operate a private pay only practice by end of the year, one plans to close up shop and retire early BECAUSE OF obamacare, the other three tell me we're screwed. Quote biased sources like NewYorkTimes, etc, but the reality is obabacare is BAD. VERY BAD. it saddles hard working Americans and employers with a huge and unsustainable financial burden. The so-called "Dealth Panels" are enevitable because there won't be enough to go around. At some point the puppet master will determine which puppets get the care. Some of the things that these doctors tell me scares the crap out of me. The "Death Panels" or what ever you want to call it (Rationing, High Level of Rejection for Seniors, Waiting List) will be a reality if obamacare is fully implemented. It really stinks that we're gonna hand this junk to our kids and grandkids.
  19. Hmm. A historical gun used by Davy Crockett would be cool, but the Barrett is still born and bred here. Tough call for sure. I found this link to a reproduction of the first "Crockett Rifle". http://www.caywoodguns.com/davy_crockett_replica.htm I also found this bit of info from the link: "As an added benefit , the Crockett Rifle comes with a hand-made hunting bag, with two horns, belt knife, double bitted ax, brass ball mold, hand turned screwdriver by master builder, John Barrett. Mr. Barrett's work is in high demand and is the perfect companion to the heirloom Crockett Rifle." So, this rifle commemorates Davy Crockett and incorporates work by Barrett. However, A lot of people would refer to it as a Kentucky Rifle though, and that doesn't seem right for a TN State Rifle. The Barrett is TN trough and through. Plus, as stated, the libs hate it. That sways me a little more towards the Barrett .50 (I think). In keeping with the state's history of firearms, we need TWO state rifles! ;)
  20. Welcome!
  21. I have an old RG25 (AKA, Stovepipe). I shot it about ten times once. Never again... I like my hand too much.
  22. I other words... BURN UP THE PHONE LINES to Alexander and Corker. Unlikely or not, it's time to de-fund this drain on America
  23. I think the plan would be to setup in the general vicinity but offer $75 gift card. Get them first ;)
  24. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/09/20/house-to-vote-on-plan-to-defund-obamacare-as-shutdown-fight-looms/ ADVERTISEMENT The House voted Friday to keep the government open through mid-December but only if Congress strips funding from ObamaCare. The vote was 230 to 189, and largely expected. The Senate, which is in recess until Tuesday, is expected to take up the vote next week. However, it is unlikely it will pass in the Democrat-controlled Senate. The House measure would replace ObamaCare with a plan that expands tax breaks for Americans who buy their own insurance, setting the stage for a showdown with Senate Democrats that could push the government toward a partial shutdown at the end of the month. More than 140 congressional Republicans signed on to the bill to keep the government running at existing funding levels and delay the health care law. Democrats have vowed to oppose that bill, warning the strategy risks a government shutdown, with funding set to expire by Oct. 1. Under the proposal, Americans who purchase coverage through state-run exchanges can claim a $7,500 deduction against their income and payroll taxes, regardless of the cost of the insurance. Families could deduct $20,000. The plan also increases government funding for high-risk pools. One day after conceding that the Democratic-controlled Senate probably would prevail in stripping the health law provision, Sen. Ted Cruz still vowed to do "everything and anything possible to defund ObamaCare." That includes a possible filibuster of legislation to prevent a partial government shutdown, the Texas Republican said. Cruz, one of the most vocal supporters of the “de-fund ObamaCare” push, startled his House colleagues when he released a written statement Wednesday afternoon that appeared to acknowledge the bill will probably fail in the Senate. “Harry Reid will no doubt try to strip the defund language from the continuing resolution, and right now he likely has the votes to do so. At that point, House Republicans must stand firm, hold their ground, and continue to listen to the American people,” he said. House Republican aides said rank-and-file lawmakers on the House floor at the time vented their anger at what appeared to be a pre-emptive surrender. Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wis., tweeted that Lee and Cruz "refuse to fight. Wave white flag and surrender." Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, R-Ga., tweeted, "Senate R's already declare defeat... before the battle even begins. So much for standing up for the American people." Internal divisions have plagued Republicans this year as they struggle to produce alternatives to the Obama plan. Legislation backed by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., to increase funding for high-risk pools was pulled without a vote after some conservatives objected to improving ObamaCare at a time when they want to repeal it. Obama and Democrats frequently criticize Republicans for focusing so much attention on repeal efforts without coming up with an alternative. A senior GOP leadership aide said Wednesday they don't expect this dissension to blow up the bill in the House on Friday. But they are concerned about where things are going now if the GOP senators don't defend their turf. The legislation includes a number of proposals that Republicans long have backed to expand access and hold down the cost of health care, including features that permit companies to sell policies across state lines and that let small businesses join together to seek better rates from insurers. In addition, awards for pain and suffering, emotional distress and similar noneconomic damages in medical malpractice cases would be capped at $250,000, unless a state had a higher cap. No overall cost estimates for the bill were available. Current funding for the government is set to expire at the end of the month, and lawmakers must approve the stopgap bill in order to keep Washington open. The GOP measure would fund the government through Dec. 15, at current funding levels. Republicans also plan to push a measure dealing with the debt ceiling, with a mid-October deadline looming for when the government can no longer honor its obligations. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
  25. Wow. Not much info, but it sounds like the guy in the second car chased the other guy down.
