  1. Well, for the really tough ones wearing helmets :)
  2. A suppressed AR is a great thing to spend $3 g's on, but if you're looking for alternate ideas.... M1A
  3. Scavengers probably scattered the carcas around. There's probably another pile of bones nearby. Super nice find!
  4. Better hope that buck's not in rut if you wear one of those! He might think your're purdy. Yikes!!!
  5. Win94 30-30 is what rides with me in my truck
  6. I have a couple of super Blackhawks in 44mag. I was torn between the vaquero 45 and the SBH 44, so I did some research on them both. I still plan to get a vaquero in 45lc some day. From what I remember, the older vaqueros could handle a different load than the "New Vaquero" could. However, it's been a few years since I looked up the info, and I was researching 45 not 357. There is a difference in the Vaquero and the "New" vaquero though.
  7. I went into walmart in cleveland this evening. No .22 but got some .223. Clerk said sane thing... same few guys wait for it in the mornings.
  8. I'd look for a used Savage 10 or Stevens 200 for that role. They're easy to work on, you can swap a barrel (or caliber) yourself, there are tons of aftermarket parts (including detachable box magazine), and they are typically very accurate. Stevens 200 in .308 or 7.62x39 maybe?? Here's a LA Savage 110 in 30-06 for $250, so they can be had for a good price. However, this particular one looks like it already hit the fan a time or two :) http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=374848957
  9. I thought Walmart had a one-box limit on 22 bricks. How are the "professional ammo stalkers" able to still buy it all up before it hits the shelves? If employees or owners from LGS are doing this and marking it up, I would like to know which LGSs are doing this. I might show up at my local Walmart a couple of mornings at delivery time just to see if I recognize any faces that try to sell it for higher. On the bright side, I can find Most other calibers in stock at Wally's again I've scored a few bricks at good prices at Cabelas over the last year. I've cut back my 22 shooting significantly and now shoot my AR cheaper.
  10. Might not be a bad idea to put a couple of your own trail cameras out in that area to determine if they are still tresspassing. If you can determine where they are accessing the property, then I might place one there as well (well concealed of course). If they are still hunting the property, then you'll also have evidence for the TWRA
  11. My credit card was charged by CMP on Friday, so my Garand will be shipped in 7-14 days! Order received: 09/03 Went pending: 10/22
  12. 30-06 for me in a controlled-round-feed bolt rifle. My favorite that I own is a sporterized Rock Island Arsenal 1903 that I inherited from my grandfather. I hunt with it often, and it's a tack driver with a 3-9x40 Nikon Monarch scope. I handload 165gr Nosler AccuBonds for it, and the accuracy is superb. 30-06 is a versitite round, it can be found anywhere, is affordable and hammers deer. I have several deer hunting rifles in a few calibers, but I almost always grab an '06. Winchester 70 (FN) featherweight in '06 is a close second for the deer woods.
  13. Best case = a criminal disguised as a leader gets the boot. Worst case = they waste time that would have otherwise been spent screwing us over by crafting some new law. Even if nobody gets impeached, I'm happy just running the clock out on o's term.
  14. It's something fun to think about, anyway. Brings a smile to my face :) Impeach them both! Of course, you're right, it will get covered up and die in the Senate :(
  15. Welcome Ben! I live in Cleveland also. Glad to have you on the site.
  16. That's what I'm looking for too. I'll probably end up doing an 18" if it doesn't suffer too much. It will be after Christmas before I can spend too much money on this build though. The CMP will be charging my card soon when they ship my Garand, and the kids all still want Christmas gifts (huh? :) ). I just hope parts are still available around the first of the year. ETA: I already have a YHM rifle length Diamond rail sitting around along with a BCM auto BCG. I'll use the BCG, but I still plan on getting a PRI Gen3 rifle length carbon rail for this one. It will pretty much be a MK12 Mod 0 in 6.5 if the 18" bbl works out.
  17. Nice bear. Congrats! 338 win mag is a great round.
  18. I really want to put an 18" on mine if the performance won't suffer too much. I have been doing some reading, and it seems 18-22 still works well with the 6.5. I still need to run some numbers though to make sure I don't regret going shorter. Midway carries an 18" rifle gas barrel for the 6.5, but it's AR Stoner. If it was a Shilen, I'd order it.
  19. Yep. I stumbled onto Nikon Monarch 3-9x40 BDC scopes there on clearance once at a ridiculously low price. Picked up two :)
  20. Make sure to check the customer service counter. They sometimes keep the more popular ammo behind the counter. I don't know if they do that with primers but won't hurt to ask.
  21. That rifle looks great! I think that might be my next optic.
  22. Argh... I'm sitting out here in Central Time Zone on a trip waiting for it to come on at 9pm (20mins to go, not!) I guess I'll have to watch the end then catch the next showing.
  23. Lol. I was curious if that feature actually changed the screen name... I see that it does. Thanks, Vintage. haha
  24. Thanks for the warning. I haven't installed yet... now I won't. So it will just share your location with everything/everyone?
