Must watch movie/television recommendations & interesting shows
Links2k replied to Links2k's topic in General Chat
I purchased “Horizon” on Amazon Prime. It was a very good movie. I can’t wait until part 2 comes out. -
It was mentioned the potential assassin had photos and scheduled appearances of both Trump and Biden. Maybe the attempt on Trump was a matter of convenience. Just speculation on my part.

“Night Stalkers”

I’m certain other employees also see just as much nepotism and the good ole boy mentality within your company. It goes both ways. I think that’s mostly how it is. Because a bunch of men don’t like it, doesn’t make it wrong. You may respond with the last word, so we can get back on topic. I respect your opinions, because that’s your experience.

Good point about the NBA! Why do you stay at a company that you feel puts your version of DEI as a priority over what’s best for the company? Secondly, what part of DEI is the problem at your Fortune 500 company and are you allowed to address the issue? A little further off topic for the last time. I was watching Hard Knocks with the New York Giants the other night. They had a female regional scout. She was in the big meetings, at the NFL Scouting Combine and out drinking and dining with the boys. Not once did I think of her as a diversity hire. I thought she must be one bad mf’er to have obtained a position in that organization. I’m thrilled to see people doing jobs or running companies that they weren’t allowed to do in the past. I don’t believe the “glass ceiling” was a figment of people’s imagination. I believe that to be the real issue people have with DEI. They’ve never seen a unicorn until a unicorn appears. Now, as for me, back on topic. Some asshole shot at Trump.

If I weren’t already retired and comfortably lazy, I would put on my Sunday finest and go out to test these vastly differing opinions on DEI and report my findings. The first job I would apply for is head of the Secret Service. I hold two theories about the uproar over DEI. One, people have allowed politicians to push this agenda to keep from actually doing their jobs, and two, some people feel entitled, and feel there is no way someone who is not them beat them out for a position.
-
Especially in coaching! But what I hear you saying is NBA owners and general managers aren’t putting the best talent on the floor, because of DEI? Did you see the 2024 draft? The top 30 players chosen in the first round were very diverse, but certainly not to fill some imaginary quota. Several different ethnicities from many different countries. All are individuals, and all have exceptional God given talent and work ethic.

What kind of jobs are some of you working where a company owner, division director, supervisor, HR manager or others can afford to put their necks on the line, and their family’s well being on the line for the sake of simply making a diversity hire? It can’t be a serious company.
-
In our capitalist society, I refuse to believe the majority of real decision makers are leaving money on the table to make a diversity hire. That’s just one more things politicians push out there, because it’s an effective strategy of angering their base. Read some of Mark Cuban’s comments about diversity. His comments are a mixture of everything being talked about today. In the end, the best qualified applicants get the jobs.

This! I agree. All of us here know that politicians are grifting, self serving liars, but we still choose those individuals to represent us, because they may say one thing that we support. I am not a Biden supporter, I’m simply unapologetically anti-Trump! They all will still have different life experiences, because they’re individuals! My family is not rich, but we sent our kids to two of the four top private schools in Shelby County from kindergarten through high school. They received excellent educations. While they were surrounded by very bright and good kids, they also had to deal with several assholes who had certainly gotten their opinions about certain things kids shouldn’t have to deal with from adults. So there are also diverse lifestyles and experiences among those living comfortable lifestyles. A rough and tough upbringing doesn’t make an individual more qualified or more deserving because they made it. I’m of the opinion that having parents who can provide kids a pleasurable youth and a good education are equally valuable experiences. At the end of the day, diversity is more than race, money and education. It’s what different individuals bring to the table

It’s another dog whistle. You’re out of the “Alpha Male” club now. Well reasoned response! This is not a dig at you, but it appears some people always assume the best qualified candidate is a white male. She’s a highly educated woman. I no longer watch her show for personal reasons, but what says she’s any less qualified than any other host on all of the other cable news entertainment platforms? No accusations here, but do as I told another member I would do by checking her credentials. I’m not recommending watching her show. I won’t watch her show. But read the background behind how she got to Harvard and how she excelled while there.

I pretty much agree with all of this. I only wish politicians would stop making laws based upon their ideology. Several of us have mentioned our faith in this post, yet we agree with the government when they want to take away rights of women and queer individuals. I’m neither of those. I don’t know how their brains function. I don’t think it’s my place to judge them based upon the decisions they make about their bodies. I must admit that I have prejudice against flamboyant gays (drag queens?), but I’m working on that. I’ve found people in the queer community are some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I also say live and let live. On the day of judgment, each of us will stand alone. There will be no SCOTUS there to overrule the decision. I would assume that I pay more attention to the words and actions of the man than most of his followers. If Trump wins and does all of the things TGO David mentioned in an earlier post, I could support him without liking the individual. I got behind Bush after 9/11. Thankfully or unfortunately, we live in an age where almost everything is recorded, so at any given time, there is a recording or quote of Trump saying things that could be detrimental to the physical and financial well being of the country and some of it’s citizens. What we’ve gone through as a country the last couple of decades is tiring. I’m considering sitting down to have a medium rare steak with the woman in the dress. It seems that people who don’t follow current events tend to be very happy. I’m retired and aging. I want to be that happy, and I can’t do that if people are having a civil war. It will disrupt my internet service. It doesn’t matter anymore, but I still think Trump only ran, because of the FBI raid and all of the indictments he was facing. Prior to that he was facing his golden years having been president and getting big money from the Saudis for the LIV Golf tournaments at his clubs. Why would he want to be president again? Trump made the earliest announcement for president in history, and so far it seems to have brilliantly paid off for him.

I wouldn’t want to be any kind of entertainer for any amount of money. You have to make lots of money to take of yourself and your team. They’re constantly under scrutiny, and success is hit or miss. Too much stress, unless you get lucky and become a superstar, and that brings a new set of problems. I’m not a lover of money, so it’s an easy pass for me.

It’s not really a thing. When I first heard about Black Twitter a few years ago, I spent hours looking for it. It’s just the manner in which mostly younger people communicate and react on Twitter. I believe Netflix or Amazon Prime has a documentary about Black Twitter. I haven’t seen it yet.

Interesting article. There are several good documentaries about this guy and his leadership on Nat Geo and the History Channel. I see where you’re going, but WWI & WWII has much more interesting stuff that occurred other than Hitlers well known flaws.

There is always a 2-3 hour lead up to his speeches, and the network does a split screen each time selling Trump merch. That’s not normal for someone who is supposed to be serving the people. It’s like stepping into a bar in Star Wars.

Like some here, I’m not a people person. That would be my wife, but for some strange reason, people tend to gravitate towards me. I don’t gamble either. I lost $100 in Tunica years ago before playing a round of golf. You would have thought I lost my home. I get where you’re coming from, but notoriety and fame appear to be drugs for the man. For someone with those traits and the benefits of having always had money, the presidency is the new hot chick for him. Not to mention the perks of being in the company of other world leaders. We could talk about anything after you remove that hat. You won’t have me on “Black Twitter” looking like an ally.

I’ve listened to both and I can take Tucker more easily than Bongino. Tucker knows the art of interviewing. IMO Bongino appears to intentionally be inflammatory. You’re right, with Bongino’s background and access, he shouldn’t have to talk with veins in his forehead to make his point. I guess I’ll give them both another chance. I’m serious about not being interested in the news anymore. I attempt to have a clear and peaceful mind on a daily basis. All the biased “news” ruins that goal. I now fill that time swimming three days a week, flight sims, reading random stuff and watching almost anything until college football kicks off.

It took some time, but I got over this manner of thinking about Trump. I have drastically reduced my inventory of guns and ammo, and I still think I have too much. However, with the new panic about to begin, I think I’ll let the dust settle again. The politicians have to have a boogeyman for some of their constituents, and based upon one’s beliefs and experiences, lots of people are easy pickings. I don’t want us to have another 9/11 before we are united as a country again. He did once say “I am the chosen one”, then looked upward. Yep, you can get a cancelled two dollar bill with Trumps picture on it for only $19.99. The guy is a marketing genius. That’s part of the reason I doubt there is anything sincere about him.

I only stream Trump on RSBN. These individuals are definitely Trumps base. As for the whackadoodles, I honestly can’t tell the difference between the commenters on YT and the politicians. If you’ll make some suggestions as to who I should be listening to or viewing concerning Trump, I’ll attempt to give an honest effort and listen to them. I no longer watch any cable news, except breaking news.
-
All of the things you mentioned would outstanding, if Trump can achieve them. While he’s at it, I’d like him to push unity among Americans. Because Americans disagree on who should lead the nation, doesn’t mean we need to hate one another. There are billions of people outside of our borders already doing that. Deity may or may not be a stretch. I formed that opinion based upon reading many thousands of comments during live streams. Also, a stronger America, is an inclusive America.
-
I think the one thing I can agree with Trump on is the border. That being said, your post makes a very good point. I exclusively watch all Trump rallies live on RSBN, because that’s the one place I’m certain they will be shown. IMO every rally is the same regurgitated speech, but I mainly watch hoping to hear something new and to read the comment section. Based upon the majority of comments read there, Trump has already been elevated to the status of deity. That makes me uncomfortable.

Indeed they do. A long time ago in a land far away, I thought my ticket was about to be punched. I said a prayer, and a calmness came over me that I’ve never hadn’t experienced since my baptism. It wasn’t my time. I also believe in miracles. I was told by doctors on a Friday that I would be cut open on Monday for a medical issue. It didn’t happen, and I left the hospital a few days later with meds and a lifestyle change. It wasn’t Trump’s time!
