Real Purpose of Dust-up With Gov Brewer
leroy replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Thanks for posting this article. There is no doubt that it is being spun by the demorats as a battle between "kindness and reasonability toward latinos" vs the "mean spirited imperialistic anglos" in arizona. Arizona has some interesting problems that we simply dont see here, and i believe Jan Brewer is doing a great job with them against some pretty serious opposition from the federal gubment. I'm with her, i think there ought to be lots more straight talk and finger pointing; it tends to clear the air a bit. I say, keep up the good work Jan! leroy -

What Really Happened in the Gringrich ethics case ?
leroy replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Crimson makes a great point in the post above (...post #38, and others...). I think that one of the things that is happening this time in the republican primary is that the "rank and file" republican voters are revolting and the inside the beltway bluenoses are upset about it. I think that is a good thing. The establishment republican operatives better be careful here, or they will consign themselves to the scrap heap of history and will morph into the demorat party. The ground is fertile for a genuine conservative party that believes in smaller government, that the constitution means exactly what it says, and that work is honorable. Folks are tired of being put upon by both parties. leroy -
In order to stir this hornet's nest up again, lest we forget what kind of polititian Ms. Giffords is, and to do a bit of analysis as to "electibility" based on other than her unfortunate situation; let's take a look at her history of contributors. It always gives some interestin insight in to what folks believe. I lifted this from Gabrielle Giffords: Campaign Finance/Money - Top Donors - Representative Career | OpenSecrets ... . AmeriPAC: Stenny Hoyer, considently, another demorat luminary and congressman to boot. Grabrielle Giffords is a delightful, winsome, and recently very corageous woman whose politics are run of the mill demorat; depending on special interest groups and outside dollars to hold a political office. She is what she is. Being "never forgetting partizan political apparatajic" that i am; I will grant that she didnt deserve shooting. Neither did the other folks who were killed, including a child and a federal judge (....eighteen others shot, six died....). It's ok to have compation on others. It aint ok to believe that they are something they are not. There are those who say "Dear Sweet Brother Barak" (....as the great Rev. Louis Farakhan says...) is a very personable and windsome individual. That trait, while very winsome and delightful, does not erase nor excuse his political views and actions. leroy

What Really Happened in the Gringrich ethics case ?
leroy replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
For the most part,; i dont believe that you can say "polititian" and "ethics" and they modify eachother in a positive way. Havin said that; i dont care what they have on the Nootie; i like him and i'll vote for him. It's obvious that both the dammed blue-nose republicans and the demorats are scared to death of him and i count that a good thing. I predict that by election time it will be "....anybody but nobama..." among real people. This election will be a referendum between those on the dole (...and those who want to be....) and those who think their stuff is their stuff and their business is their business. Newt well knows that. He is the smartest guy running (...in my opinion...) and i think he believes in what we would term non-socialist american values and governance. I think his message is great and it will overpower the negatives he may have. I say "bring on the suprizes and the half truths (...and the full truths, if there are any....). Go nootie!! leroy leroy -
Forgot about this. Check it out. A noted black elected official takin about hoodlums ---- Philadelphia mayor talks tough to black teenagers after 'flash mobs' - Washington Times .... Here's what a noted NAACP apparatchik said about the mayor's stance: Interesting read. leroy

I think he is exactly right. We need to quit trying to please everybody, simply because you cant. The gang mothers and the race baters dont like this kind of message, and they are gonna squall anyway. Most people simply dont care anymore. Evidently Sheriff Hammond doesnt care whether they do or not. He is sending a message and i admire that. We need more of it. The gang and hoodlum element everywhere is way passed rehabilitation for the most part. Maybee some straight talk and a few trips to the funeral home will improve their behavior. Thank you Sheriff Hammond for telling the truth. We'll see what happens next. leroy

I think the GPSs ruling is interesting too. I believe the justices hit a home run with this one. We do not live in a police state (....yet, anyway...) where peoples commings and goings should be monitored by the gubment without due cause. Looks like the Fourth Amendment has been given a little bit more life. leroy

Here is the link to an interesting post from our buddies at Libertarian Republican Blog (.... Libertarian Republican: Mini-Watergate unraveling in Iowa: Higher-ups in the IA Democrat Party could be implicated ....) regarding a criminal investigation of a demorat apporagic (...read that consultant...) who seems to be involved in a smear campaign against a sitting iowa republican secretary of state. The accused guy just happens to work for a political consultant who is a nobama operative. The target of the smear was Matt Schultz, who just happens to be a supporter of strong voter ID requirements. This shows just how important the blocking of more stringent voter ID requirements is to the demorats. leroy

Heard on the news today that Gabby Giffords was resigning here AZ 8 seat after the great Nobama State of the Union Message. Got interested in this again and took a look at the 2010 election results. Here is the real reason she is resigning:

[TH=colspan: 5]Arizona's 8th congressional district election, 2010 [/TH]

[TH=colspan: 2]Party [/TH] [TH]Candidate [/TH] [TH]Votes [/TH] [TH]Percentage [/TH]

[TH=bgcolor: #3333FF][/TH] Democratic Gabrielle Giffords (incumbent) 138,280 48.7%

[TH=bgcolor: #FF3333][/TH] Republican Jesse Kelly 134,124 47.2%

[TH=bgcolor: #FFCC00][/TH] Libertarian Steven Stoltz 11,174 3.9%

The 2010 election was decided by less than 5,000 votes and less than 1 1/2 percentage points difference. Data link here: (....United States House of Representatives elections in Arizona, 2010 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ....). Remember, there is an election later this year. Gabby would have to run against a republican again (...probably Jesse Kelly....). Politics is an interestin business, even in a place like Tuscon, AZ. leroy

Straight Out of Atlas Shrugged! "Reasonable Profits Board"
leroy replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Glenn has his a home run here. There are those of us that believe that the good ole USA is quietly breaking up into "confederations" (...for lack of a better term ...) where like-minded folks come and settle for various socio-economic reasons. There is a reason that there is an exodus from the commie territories like kalefornia to places like texas. We have been seein it here in tennessee. Our next door neighbors are delightful young folks from, of all places, long island, ny. They are the third members of their families to move from new york to tennessee. They have 80+ year old grandparents and 45 to 50 ish uncles and aunts here in east tennessee. When ya talk to them about leavin home its the same thing. Too much government, no work, taxes too high, too much crime, sorry schools, ect. The problem that the blue states are havin is keeping their subjects at home and subjugated. It aint workin out; they are leaving, and i dont blame them. I say to all of 'em: "...Come on down, leave your socialist slave masters behind....". sooner or later, all the real people will live in the "economically free" states and the socialists will live in the socialist states. Things will get real interestin then. I think it's closer than we all realize. leroy -
Straight Out of Atlas Shrugged! "Reasonable Profits Board"
leroy replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just another reason to get rid of these chumps and anybody else that thinks this is a good idea; and apply the test on both sides of the aisle -- Demorat and Republican. One of the reasons that our economy in in the toilet today is this stupid socialist "envy your brother" baloney. Business (...as well as investors....)are afraid of what can come next from this bunch of idiots. Nobody is goin to invest in anything these sons of satan may choose to regulate (...and that could be anything....). Remember, there is an election this fall. It cant come too soon. Update: I forgot about this. Dennis Kuncinich is the house sponsor of this bill. He is a firm UFO believer and genuine moonbat commie. My guess is that the "Astral Overseers" on the mothership are behind this bit of enlightenment. The co sponsors are the usual communist trash from the usual places. leroy -
The LED lighting thing and microprocessors are doin great (...and sometimes strange...) things to vehicle lighting. It is a safety thing. I spent a bunch of years in the construction business dodging unaware drivers from time to time. It's a dangerous business to be on the side of the road with traffic whizzin by. A human (...even a 300 pounder...) cant win in a crash with a small car movin at 50 mph. Thats the reason for the "close encounter" lighting (...by the way, i love the description....) There are several companies that specialize in lighting for police and construction vehicles that have pre-designed packages. Costs aint that bad considering what they do. leroy

Someone good is running against Corker!
leroy replied to macville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Folks, Robert is right about this. An incumbent, well funded candidate can be beat. Take a look at the history of Albert Gore, SR. He was a 3 term sentator from tennessee. He pilfered the pockets of tennesseeans from 1953 to 1971 (....January 3, 1953 – January 3, 1971 ...). He was rich, powerful, and well connected. He lost to a republican because of his vote for the Gun Control Act of 1968. The moral of this story. Everybody can be beat. leroy -

Agreed. The important thing is that you vote. If ya stay home and say "....they all aint worth a damn....[...and many arent!!...]; you get folks like Nobama....). The reason that Nobama is president today is that most republicans simply couldn't stomach McCain. Keep up the good work. leroy -
Someone good is running against Corker!
leroy replied to macville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Robert makes an excellent point here. The fact is that there are no "perfect" candidates. You have to take them for what they are, ...."warts and all"... and, just like you and me, there are plenty of "warts". My gripe, like most of yours, are the senatorial seats. There are those here who dont like bob corker, most all here dont like lamar. At least, corker has held a real job and is a capitalist. I dont agree with all of corker's positions; but at least he is a capitalist, and, i think, a "real person". You can bet that lamar aint a capitalist (...he's crony capitalist...) or a "real person". Lamar is a man who actually believes he is the "best and brightest"; just like that famous senator from Carthage, Albert Gore, Sr. (...read his story sometime, he was dethroned over the infamous gun control act of 1968 vote -- he voted for it....). It appears to me that those of you who want someone thrown out of office ought to spend that energy against lamar. He is a dangerous man. Lamar is much more likely to sell you out for political gain than corker (...in my opinion, anyway...). I've been watchin him for a long time, from the governorship on. Lamar brought "scorched earth" politics to Tennessee. He used every tool at his disposal to destroy his opponents. I dont think that corker would ever do that. Havin posted this little tirade; i dont think that lamar can be beaten when he runs. He is simply too slick a polititian with too great a coalition of diverse well-healed suporters. That's how he can take some of the positions that he does (...and be "independent" as he puts it...) and stay in office. He has made the calculation that he can do whatever he chooses to do and no one group has the horsepower to dethrone him. The only way we can get rid of him is retirement (...unless he does something really heinous, like ole Al Sr. did.; which i think he is too smart to do...). We may get some relief from lamar when Bill (...the Snozz...) Haslam finishes up his second term as governor. That's how i see things lookin out the picture window at the little "blue snow" here on the hillside in east tennessee. Just remember this, it can be worse. You could have Harold Ford Jr. as a senator instead of Bob Corker. Everyone with any sense ought to be thankful for that. I say, thank you Bob!!! leroy -
NYC gun charges dropped. Now I can Speak
leroy replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Givin this guy the benefit of the doubt, i think that the local constatbulary in NYC let him take the strange "disorderly conduct" plea to keep him from havin the case to start up the federal court chain. There is more to this on both sides than meets the eye (....i think...). As it stands now, there is no basis to bring a federal complaint. The bottom line is that NYC government doesnt want a high profile case denying 2A rights to go to the supreme court(...if it even has to....). They are afraid of another Heller vs DC. There is no way that the NYC gunlaws wont be finally struck down. They are just delayin the inevitable. Thanks for posting this. I saw an abbreviated story on it last nite on the Daily Caller. leroy -
